Vass, for you it's unlucky that they lost this close, but Germany had the same situation the other day against Italy as they lost by a small margin against Italy after overtime. So I was glad it went the other way and this win meant Germany can stay at their venue for the cross-elimination game.

After halftime it appeared as if Serbia would totally control the game against France as the French could do almost nothing. But it turned around in the 2nd half and France won this match and won the key situations towards the end of the game or just got lucky that Serbia missed these opportunities at the end which they had.

Sorry if it will sounds like im whining or something, but something in the match between Greece-Israel smelled fishey. it looked like the refs doing everything possible that Israel won't win....it don't surprise me that the head of Russian Basketball Federation said before this match: "I'm sure that will meet Greece in the quarters"

black day for the European Basketball for me.

incredible finish in the Greece vs France semifinal

Greece win 67-66 on their last shot

During the whole game it looked as if Greece is struggling from the line but the whole thing turned towards the end. France was always up a few points, up to 7, in the last minutes. Greece put France to the line and Parker and a few others missed some free throws. Greece answered several times with quick baskets and as they were down by only two they hit a three pointer with 4 seconds left to win.

delsa
09-24-2005, 06:20 PM
WD Greece! :yeah: Perfect scenario for me.
France play a great match (until the end where they were so naive and made lots of errors and bad decisions...) but Greece win!
The Greeks care a lot about basket. The French don't give a shit for most of them. Great deserved victory. ;)
And it's not as if the French were the favorites. Good they have their place in the World Championships in Japan seeing how they played before getting better in the last three games. It's cruel but they'll hopefully learn from it.
Well done Papaloukas! :worship: What a player!
Parker and Rigaudeau should learn to deal with pressure. They didn't get the job done with those last FT and kind of let their team down when Diw-Riffiod was playing his heart out. Not surprising from the overrated Parker but from Rigaudeau...

I support the French team most of the time in European encounters but not in basket, sorry, epecially against the Greeks...
You've got rugby, football, athletics, etc...still for you to support. Just watch one of the fabulous rugby top 14 encounters there are today (in the best Northern Hemisphere Championships ever, remember...;)). That's a blast. That will cheer you up. :)

The loss against Turkey in the Euro 2001 has to be one of the worst coachings I've ever seen
but also very dumb of the players, normally you would think that players themselves have enough brain not to make such strategic errors with the team inbounding down by three during the last few seconds of the game... this was simply pathetic :retard: :cuckoo:

France win 98-68 against Spain (for the bronze medal) who didn't have the Greek defence so they were able to play as they like to play and be very flashy and offensive. Parker silenced his critics a bit (me included even if i fear he'll do like he always do and be so damn inconsistant despite his obvious talent...). It was a team effort like they like with some players like Diaw-Riffiod, Gelabale, the Pietrus brothers (especially Mickaël) and Parker who did a little bit better than the others. Plus a mention for their "abnégation" to Frédéric Weis and Antoine Rigaudeau... :worship:
Juan Carlos Navarro :worship: is still a fantastic player and shooter and he prooved it today again despite the defeat. But Spain were maybe frustrated because they weren't awarded as many faults against them as they had during this tournament because France defended very collectivelly with heart and neatly...
I don't care who wins this actually. Both Greece and Germany would make a great worthy champions.
France win its first medal in an European competition (even World comp except the Olympics i think...) since 1959! :o Thus the very ostensible joy on top of the fact that they enjoyed themselves so much during this match. It was very fluid... :D
It ends better than it started for them. From the horrible preparation matches almost all lost exept in Limoges to the two most unexpected upsets when they had their last chance to a point from the final and a great finish. ;)
May the better of Greece and Germany on this day win! :)
Spain will always be a country of basket and France today is still not though... :p
Maybe it will change one day.
I hope you feel better Marine now... :p

CONGRATS GREECE, very good game!! :yeah:
They had too hot hands today from every distance and Germany was too nervous and with too many turnovers.

But German team shouldn't be sad about that loss, it was one hell of a tournament for them and nobody expected them to go that far. They should really celebrate this unexpected silver medal :)

Yes, but as we know Nowitzki he would immediately exchange every individual award for the team's win in this final!

However, it was a successful tournament for Germany and I had never thought they make it that far. It's still a good success for them despite they could not play their best and were very nervous and their ball handling was awful today; and Greece was almost excellent in shooting.

Germany, France, and of course Greece prooved a lot in this Euro. Nobody expected Germany and France to be there and Greece were very solid thorough the competition. France made stupid naive mistakes on how to handle the last minutes free throws and how to provoke them etc...Germany were powerless in front of the Greek defence...Great Euro! :D I think that for Spain who were seen as the favorites even without Pau Gasol, maybe the feeling after their harsh defeat in the semi was like "the gold or nothing"...
