I've been watching the news too -- on TSR, etc. What devastation! I certainly hope all Swiss Rogi fans are safe!

yes, this happened from Sunday night. mostly in the Bernese Oberland and parts of Luzern and Graubünden in the eastern part wasn't spared as well. an area of the old town of Bern which is next to the Aare river has been flooded and residents there had to be evacuated. camping areas were also flooded, some railroad tracks were destroyed, houses washed down with mud, and some roads broken from the strong current. even an important museum in Luzern was flooded.
a natural catastophe like this hasn't happened since 6 years but this one is worst.
hopefully the rains are gone now and the waters recede and to give people time to clean up and rebuild...

here's the Matte, here in Bern

it was really a disaster and it still is.... so much water everywhere - luckily we're a bit up on a hill...so it didn't reach us...but all the others in our street have water in their cellars....

Right. I am in Florida and there are all these hurricanes. Any way I hope lives will be safe in Switzerland. I didn't realize they had the type of whether to get floods.

Our area got lucky compared to some others - right where I live the river stayed in its bed. But it was close to flooding - and the next town was flooded but not as bad as some other places.

LOL @ Mrs. B no Suk I'm pure swiss that's why I was saying that we got lucky as the river Emme 20 meters away from where I work stayed in its bed. Well things calmed down a bit but now ppl have to clean up their houses and get back to normal live if that's ever possible for them.
