I think this asian fellow have a bright future in tennis, ive paid more attention to his game ever since i saw his match against roddick in wimbledon 2004 on tv, didnt know he exist b4 that match. Y-T Wang lost in straight sets 6-3 7-5 6-4, but he fight hard and showed alot of spirit, alot have been said about this up and coming player and i think sooner or later his physical n mental game will come together!

more heads will be turning and more eyes on him as he leads a new breed of asian tennis players to the top!! :yeah:

Everyones welcome to post any news / info!! ~~ and cheer him on :bounce:

:awww: bad news for us...Uzu wont make it in this years US open's main draw, he lost in d qualies 2nd rd.

Men's Qual Singles - 2nd Rnd.
Noam Okun (ISR) def Yeu-Tzuoo Wang (TPE)[16] 6-3 1-6 6-4

from the scoreline Wang lost the 1st set came back n won 2nd, n battle till d end on d 3rd, but lost by a break. i thought its gonna be tough after i saw Noam Okun's records. hes rank lower than Wang at d moment, but was a former top 100player n alot more experienced. had bad feelin whn i saw Wang draw against Noam Okun:shout:

once again he miss out on usopen, he hasnt made a maindraw in a grandslam since aust open..oh well better luck nxt year...Keep fighting UZU!! :bounce:

u shld really pick up a racket n giv tennis a go! Its really alot of fun even better than watching your fav player play! :yeah:

its alittle bit harder to pick up than pingpong at first, but once u know the basics n can rally a few shots, u wont believe hitting a little fluffy yellow ball can be so much fun!!

yeah i would think so, since tennis is still developing in most asian countries, it would be harder for players to get funding from gov. or private companies.
but if Uzu and Lu can crack into the worlds top 50 or higher, the sport will become alot more popular in taiwan. i guess right now they r still lacking top players.

Hass is currently ranked 39th in d world(carreer high world no.2), i think this is Uzu's biggest win to date. Beating a top 40 player n in straight sets, he did it in style!

n to think i mentioned just a few post ago that i hope Uzu can beat a top player. didnt think it'll happen so soon, definitely a confidence booster!

by reaching d QF, no doubt he'll return inside 100(currently at no.102). i can giv an estimate by the points he has already earn at this point, if he don't get any further(fingers crossed, who knows maybe he get d chance to play Roger in SF! ) his ranking might rise to d high 80s; 88..89?

its sad his run came to an end but at the same time im very happy he manage to reach d QF(1st time tiawanese player reach atp level singles QF :) ).

i was reading d point by point commentary by other poster whn i got home 2nite, i knew d match was over because it just started whn i left home. i didnt know who won so it was exciting just readin d post :p
turns out wang called for trainer whn he was leading 4-3 in final set, after medical treatment they began d 8th game. wang serving to hold for 5-3 and had 40-15 b4 being broken to 4-4, then it was downhill as his movement decreased due to cramps. the commentary said he couldnt run properly and lost d final games to fatigue.

im just excited to see him matching players of Haas n Nieminen's calibre. fitness level n maybe nerves caused d cramps so once these areas r improved, wangy can be more consistence in winning these level of matches!

if asian tennis players r to be noticed more they need to make an impact on d sport, i believe its happening but slowly. still lacking elite players from asia(mens tennis) i remember whn para's rise to d top increased my interest for d sport, i was really excited even though i aint thai. hope jimmy's on d same track.

found wang on d entry list, wonder y he would play such a low tier challenger(n its in germany!) at this stage of his carreer. instead of higher level challengers like busan or seoul in korea...not only is their less points/prize money, its far to travel to n his opponents won't giv hime same pressure as bigger names.

d only reason i can think of, is that maybe he wants to get easier match practice in a competition environment. n also get d winning feeling back.

report from east-asian games 2005
Date: 2005-11-04 18:05
Notes: Wang blazes to men's tennis crown

Content: Chinese Taipei's rising tennis star Wang Yeutzuoo underlined his quality with a crushing straight-sets victory over Japan's Toshihide Matsui in the men's singles final on Friday.

The 20-year-old Wang, a semi-finalist at the World University Games in Turkey in August, won 6-1, 6-0 in just 62 minutes at the Tennis Academy Centre Court.

"I knew the strategy of my opponent very well and that's why I could win the gold medal," he said.

"I felt there was some distance between us, but I still have much improvement to make."

Chinese Taipei also beat Japan in the women's doubles final, with Chan Yungjan and Chuang Chiajung defeating Mayumi Yamamoto and Tomoko Yonemura 6-0, 7-5 in 80 minutes.

It was the second gold medal of the Games for Chan, the women's singles champion, and also for Chuang, a mixed doubles champion.

"We have played quite well together and improved as the tournament has gone on," said Chuang.

"I hope we have more chances to play in Macau."

Chinese Taipei won four of the five gold medals in tennis, with Korea taking the other.

another very good article abt wang from http://www.tennishk.org/html/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1054

Wang Yeu-Tzuoo, Chan Yung-Jan captures East Asian Games gold medals
Posted on Saturday, November 05 2005 @ 19:01:16 HKT

Taiwanese number one and top seed, Wang Yeu-Tzuoo, swept to the men's singles gold at the 4th East Asian Games in Macau with a 6-1, 6-0, destruction job on Japanese fourth seed, Toshihide Matsui, in the final, while women's No. 1 seed, Chan Yung-Jan, defeated fellow Taiwanese teammate, Chan Chin-Wei, 6-2, 6-1, to capture the gold medal.

The 20-year-old Wang has had a solid year on the pro circuit, winning two Challenger events and reaching the finals of two others. France's Fabrice Santoro, nicknamed the "Wizard", and former world No. 2, Tommy Haas, were just two of his prized scalps this season. The Chinese Taipei Davis Cupper qualified for Wimbledon last year and faced number two seed, Andy Roddick, in the first round, but was evidently not overawed by the occasion, as the American did not have it all his way in a, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4, victory.

With Paradorn Srichaphan's form gradually tapering off since cracking the Top-10 in May two years ago, and Korean Lee Hyung-Taik unable to breakthrough to the Top-50 after peaking at No. 52 following his win at the Sydney International in 2003, Wang is the player on the rise in Asian tennis.

In an interview with the Beijing Times published earlier today, the Taipei native had indicated he will be playing several more Challengers in Europe before the end of this year and then heading Down Under for the Australian Open in January next year. However, he did say that players from this part of the world was finding it tough to break into the upper echelons of world tennis because of a lack of support, citing that players overseas often possess a helpful support team while players from Asia were often left to themselves to contend with life on the Tour.

Wang Yeu-Tzuoo peaked at No. 93 on the ATP Entry Rankings List just last month.

another 2nd rd loss...n in straight sets, wang prob wont finish d season inside 100...

VANEK, Jiri CZE d. Wang 6-3 6-3

jiri vanek upsetted no.6seed MINAR, Ivo in 1st rd. i thought this gave wang an easier task to get to QFs...didnt think he'll lose in straight sets.

chewy
11-23-2005, 12:49 PM
on d other hand he won d doubles
1st rd Falla (COL) / Vicente (ESP)- Hajek (CZE) / Wang (TPE) 4:6, 4:6
2nd rd doubles play 2day evening

dont know if wang was abit fitigue, but he shldnt b coz he only play 1 match/day n yesterday was only a doubles match won in 2 sets. if his body can't hold up than maybe he shld hav skip d doubles so hell hav a days rest to recover...but then again his fitness shld be at its peak so shldnt b problem.
