What's next. David will face the Cincinnati MS and the US Open. Then he'll participate in the match against Slovakia for the DC semi finals.

any news about him continuing his work with barrionuevo?.

Well, I haven't heard anything, but during Chela's match there was another PT called Diego Rodriguez and he was sitting next to Javier

I wonder if any of the DC trainers are working with David?

frula08
08-12-2005, 01:27 PM
i dont know if he is a PT, i saw him in DC against czech republic, i think he is a phisioterapeut(i dont even know if this word exists),or a trainer (like the ones that the ATP has in the tournaments).
did anybody understood something of my message?.

There had to be any change because of the lack of progress lately and the first item is always the coach. All that’s left to us is to see if this is the right step.

Any idea on why they split?
Or was it just a mutual agreement that the partnership had run it's course?

I hope Nalbo's next coach could be someone who has led a player to success at big tourneys.
Is there any chance that Nalbo's next coach could be a foreign one?

frula08
08-12-2005, 02:09 PM
i think that gilbert would be a good coach, also coming back with markus would be good, but i dont think any of this two things to happen.

gooner88
08-12-2005, 02:15 PM
Safin's coach, Peter Lundgren would've been great if he was avaliable.
Was Markus Nalbo's coach during his run to the Wimby final in 2002?

Gilbert and Nalbandian, no way that would not happen.

08-12-2005, 02:49 PM
I do not want Gilbert!!!
According to the article it was a mutual agreement to go on separete ways. I don't know who's gonna be his next coach, but I hope it's someone as good as Infantino. I liked him a lot.

sophia_c

Thats a shame that they split....but its always the coach to go first...I really liked Infantino's calm manner...and there is no way Gilbert would work well with David's personality....they would end up having punching sessions...and we don't want him anyway...

frula08
08-12-2005, 07:21 PM
how much do we know of gilbert to say that he can not be david`s coach, i know david is not similar at all to roddick (i think is the last player trained by gilbert), but safin and federer are just the opposite kind of people, and they have amazing results with Peter Lundgren.

jazz_girl
08-12-2005, 07:29 PM
I don't like Gilbert's personality at all! Just to hear him talk makes me insane!
I have no idea who could be his next coach. I'd like Mancini to help him out, but since he's the DC Captain that won't happen.

frula08
08-12-2005, 07:53 PM
anyway, i think that we have to wait some time before seeing him with a new coach, in my oppinion he will stay with his brother to the end of the us open, and maybe to the end of the year before thinking in a new coach.
last time he changed coach he waited a long time, he split with markus in australian open in 2003 (january), and started with infantino in montecarlo (april).

jazz_girl
08-12-2005, 08:00 PM
I agree with you, I'm sure he will wait a while before being sure of a new person.

It's strange, because I've been thinking about Gilbert as a possible coach for David for quite a long time. I don't like Gilbert too much, but he seems to admire David, calling him a second best returner in the world after Agassi. Gilbert is a mental coach more than anything else, and maybe he is what mentally unstable David needs.

Gilbert certainly has the right credentials, having led Andre and A-Rod to slam titles and making them better players. He's one of the best coaches around even though he annoys alot of people. In my opinion he would be a good coach for Nalbo.
It's highly unlikely though. Gilbert's got a job at ESPN, and there might be a clash of personalities and cultures. I can't see Gilbert leaving his family to go to Argentina to coach Nalbo.

I agree. And I cannot see David leaving Cordoba either.

I agree. And I cannot see David leaving Cordoba either.

I was just thinking does Nalbo actually need a full-time coach.
If Nalbo did decide he wanted to have Gilbert as a coach, they could work together at the big tourneys like the slams and TMS and not the MM events.
Henman does it with Annacone and Fed does it with Roche.
Still highly unlikely though.

i really like the idea of gilbert, even when i dont see this happening, but he is a great coach, maybe one of the best if you look at his results with the players he had coached before, and he loves challenges, and training david could be a challenge for him.
i cant think in a better person for david now (maybe markus), but i am sure that david will take time to decide and take the best person in the market.
by the way, anybody knows something of rose, i know of much he loved infantino, i am really worried about her.

jazz_girl

what a waste of time.

i do not know why he left gabriel markus, that coach is good :)

me too, but i think that he will be without a coach at least after us open, maybe untill the end of the year, he has lo of tournamens to play, and i dont think that he has time to think in someone.
but i really like the idea of gilbert (unfortunately i think is only my idea, and not david´s one).but i am sure that he will make a good decission, i didnt know infantino before he started working with david, and he did a good job.

Hi boys and girls!!! So no more Infantino?!?!?!? That´s sad he looks like a good and nice guy, but who knows, maybe is the best for David, after all he´s a good player, and can be a top 3 with a good coach do´t you think?

Kisses

PS: do you think that David will play the master this year?

No, I didn't say that. I don't think that jazz is a crazy moderator. To her credit, she's trying to cut down on threads of the same name or purpose. That thread you made looked like it was meant to mock her or something. I don't know if that was your intention, but that's certainly how it came across.
