It's the same title I used with Munich, let's hope it works
The draw is not out yet, but we already know he'll be playing singles and doubles. I hope he could have gotten some match practice and can do a much, much better tournament here :yeah:

If he has the right motivation and he wants, he can beat anyone. Let’s hope that he has learned from those defeats that never had to be defeats. Let’s hope for a better performance both physically and mentally!!!

This draw is tougher than in Montreal imo, but who knows? Let's once again hope for the better.

frula08
08-13-2005, 02:05 PM
with david you never know, i always have the impression that the hardest draw he has, the better he plays, remember us open 2003, he has philipousis, federer. roddick, and he played awesome, or RG 2004, gasquet, safin, guga.
the advantage that he has is that they are players that he had already played to.
i repit, you never know with david, he can beat any of the top 5 players, and lost to everyplayer the following day.
we will have to wait.

frula08
08-13-2005, 03:09 PM

David played a great match till when he was up 4-2 in the second set. Till that moment he was serving really well, and had only had 4 UE. But then he started making much more mistakes and serving like his usual self. However he played a very good toe break.

Absolutely!
I don't think Nalbo would've lost this match if he had Infantino around. Infantino would've talked strategy and disected the Gonzo game. It's no coincidence that Nalbo had a 5-1 winning record going into this match.
Nalbo hasn't won back-to-back matches at ATP level (non GS and DC) since winning Munich, which is shocking for a player of Nalbo's quality.
He really lacks consistency and is so unpredictable.

jazz_girl
08-17-2005, 06:48 PM
Actually, he's turning really predictable...He can't win two matches in a row.
And I agree, if Infantino had been there it would have been better.

Things can't get much worse for Nalbo. I'm just hoping he regains form, consistency and gets good results before year-end.

Nalbo says Maradona is one of his heros, so I doubt that Nalbo would refuse the offer if Maradona invited him.
I agree with you Jazz, Nalbo should head to New York right away and prepare PROPERLY.

jazz_girl
08-18-2005, 02:34 PM
David was never mentioned, just Coria, but it's a feeling I have. Especially since now he's without a coach, he will do whatever he wants...
But I hope it's just Coria, or bot even him anyway. Maybe a phone conversion can work, right?

I take back what I said last week, Nalbo DOES need a full-time coach. He needs a strong figure to coach and lead him. When he has the motivation and hunger he can do anything like the DC heroics in Sydney last month.
Going on T.V Shows just before the last slam of the year is not what most players would do. He can always go on the Maradona show in December during the offseason. ;)

jazz_girl
08-18-2005, 04:42 PM
Absolutly.
I really hope Mancini goes to the US Open and puts some pressure on David, like telling him that he'll go to the DC if he makes a good US Open, or something like that. I'm sure that way David will have a completely different attitude.

gooner88
08-18-2005, 07:09 PM
I'm wondering why Nalbo hasn't asked for a wildcard to play New Haven considering he is low on match practice and lacking confidence at the moment.
Both Henman and Safin have been offered wildcards and will probably accept them.
But deep down we all know that Nalbo won't even ask for one because he prefers to practice hard the week before a slam.
