That's Rogi's game. Maybe he focused well and found his form a little.( still he need to improve to play against top5 players. ;) ) :) :) :)

Yes, I am going to bed pretty soon! I will watch the 2nd set of Acasuso-Horna, then go to bed. Is Acasuso taking this second set and meeting Roger in QF, or Horna forces the 3rd set!?

realy pleased with that match roger, exhibition in serving, 14 aces, great varity, high percentage. go chill dude!Yeah the serve really clicked tonight. I don't think his return/ground strokes are back at 100%. But this was A LOT better than the Keifier/Blake match.

Hello billabong :bigwave:

What is the H2H between Roger and Acasuso?

Roger is 1-0 over Acasuso. The only time they played was the US Open 2003. I only saw Acasuso play once, when he beat Roddick in the French Open this year. He appeared to have a good serve and seemed to have a lot of game in that match with Roddick. He's also 6'3" so he won't be overpowered the way Rochus was.

Does anyone know more about Acasuso?

Come on Roger !

Good to see there was no bullshit swearing around here any more  ;)

Yet to watch the match. But seems like he was getting much better. Very glad to hear it cuz the tournament seems really heading for the Roger-Safin, Andy-Hewitt match-up AGAIN :tape: And Safin looked good against Hrbaty... No, I don't get this brainfart at all :retard:

So should be no problem against Acasuso I guess? I have to save my energy for another blockbuster against Safin tomorrow :p So Roger, you'd better do your share.

saw some bits and pieces of the match. Roger is back in the game, but still theres a room for improvement. Cincy is getting more and more exciting now all the top players and former USO winners are still in the draw. I hope Fed will go all the way. I think he wants to have a least 1 title to every tournaments but I kinda notice that he doesnt care about USO as much as Wimby?!

Some of you have asked me about the match reports, I am sorry couldn't see Rogi's first and third round matches since it was in the middle of the night where I am and ESPN didn't show it, and the Kiefer match was just basically awful so there is not much I can write about it. I am also a little pressed for time at the moment and I am going abroad on Sunday so I won't even be able to see the final.

Keep cheering Rogi on :yeah: :wavey:

They keep talking about the conditions day vs. night. Well the SF and for sure the final will be played during the day. So Roger might like the night conditions better, but that's too bad. He has to play in the day that's just the way it is. This is a bit dissapointing because he was serving so well yesterday and just hitting the ball so much better. I can see him getting broken here, and then possibly losing the first set.

He held. Phew! Now pick it up Rog! Actually I'm glad ESPN went away because I don't enjoy watching him when he's missing his shots and just lackluster. But at least he held, and if it does go to a breaker I think he's got the upper hand there.

Rogi s not underestimate Chucho... he can't afford to "relax" -- he s know that this week w be tough and it has been -- he needs to tell himself he is the better player out there, even today, even this week, and just do the job... you can be sure that Lleyt and Pandy won't bow out today... they can knock each other out tomorrow for all I care! ;)

why talk about Nadal? cos the players are intimidated by him and he's not there so they can let it all hang out vs. the other top guys... ;)

having said that, ROGI MUST improve his serve now -- how's his return? Is Chucho serving well? He must be...

Thanks for nothing (yet again) ESPN  Sadly this means, again, no match reports.

Oh well, the bottom line is the win beside his name- he is into the semis in a tournament where he has had apaulling past records and now with a real solid chance to make the final. Having said that, Ginepri should not be underestimated, he has been on fire this summer and it won't be easy. But Roger is overcoming the hurdles one at a time, just as he normally does :yeah:

Some one said they might show part of the Federer match after the Roddick match tonight. It is very upsetting that they would not show us Roger. This it getting to the last rounds of the tourney and there were only going to be 4 matches today so why can't they show all 4? In fact when is Hewitt going to play because Livescore lists his match as taking place tomorrow. That would mean the winner would have to then play an SF match that same day? Is that right?

You are right. I am not underestimating Ginepri. He's in great shape and is a Florida/Georgia native who is used to the humidity. Roger is taller, and more experienced and should have a better serve than Ginepri. Let's hope Roger takes care of business nicely.

Federer: "I'm No. 1 in the world, you know, so I don't want to give away wins just like that, you know, as presents. I want to make sure when I'm playing, I'm on, and when I'm not feeling well, I don't play, you know. Like in Montreal I didn't feel like I was ready yet. So I'm very happy to see that when I come here, I feel like I'm ready. At least then I go the distance, I go far into a tournament. Now I'm in a great situation, a great position where I can do better than semis, you know. And really looking forward to that challenge."

(On facing Ginepri):
"He definitely plays well in the States, you know. Probably if you look at his results he's had most of them here, you know. He's beaten Marat, who I think is one of the best players in the world.Yeah, so I definitely have to watch out even though I think it's a good draw, you know, to play against him. He's won Indianapolis and played well again here. And I know he can play aggressive, play good. I mean, he played a great match against Marat today. He's definitely hot, and hope I can cool him down."

How do you think Ginepri's game will match up to Roger's? What will Roger have to watch out for?
According to CCTV5 schedule Saturday

23:35 Video recording: In 2005 the ATP tennis master match (Cincinnati stands) 1/4 finals
23:35 in China, 17:35 in Central Europe, 11:35 in Cincinnati. It doesn't say which 1/4 match they are going to show. And, if they are showing Roger's SF live, which starts at 14:00 Cincy time The duration between those two is 2 hours+ Therefore they are not going to show every QF match.

But, I can't trust CCTV5 program schedule, because it said tennis and they acually showed track and field meeting...

robby has big groundstrokes, real power, and a great 1st serve. hes been playing greta all weak, committing very few errors, so roger has to keep his errors down, dont give away any cheap points but gain some. he has to return good, if he does then he will win comfortable, but roger hasnt been on top form so i definately give robby a decent chance but here hoping roger comes through nicely

To be honest, I don't know about Ginepri. All I know is he recently won against Roddick and today Safin. No clue how he plays. Some say he has solid serve.

Roger met him once 4 years ago in US Open, Roger won in straight sets. But I am sure they are not the players of 4 years ago.

Just saw a bit of Ginepri. If Rog doesn't pick up his game, he could be in trouble. Safin's protecting his knee first, then worrying about tennis, so that result not very meaningful - he just beat semi-Safin. Nevertheless Ginepri playing better than Roger yesterday. But we know that Roger yesterday may not be Roger tomorrow. Unless the weather deteriorated in Cincy today - very dark when they started - Roger could be having feet problems. Bastards didn't list his W/UE's, but did list serving stats. His 1st serve % fell from 1st set 68% to 58% ins 2nd set - and he's been resting 4 wks.

Well Roger did say when he was in Dubai he worked out a lot on his upper body and on the bike. Some people might have the impression he spent the last 6 weeks sipping pretty drinks on the beach with Mirka. I doubt that.

When you have a foot injury, it's a perfect time for some fitness work- weightlifting, riding a bike, or building stamina in a pool. It helps to stay in shape and these exercises don't put to much pressure on the foot. But he didn't hit many balls on the court- it was obvious from his play in the early rounds.

Go Rogi goI'm not so worried about Ginepri. But if :retard: Roger shows up on court tomorrow then he certainly has a shot. In all of Roger's previous matches I don't think it was the good play of his opponents that caused his errors/less than stellar play. I just think Roger has been a bit rusty and has moments of really good play and just so-so play. Hopefully tomorrow we'll see his really good play. I don't care what the scoreline is as long as there is a W by his name tomorrow. I wonder how PMac and Gilbert will call the match? It's obvious that they like Roger (Gilbert calles him "buddy" when he interviews him), but Ginepri is an American and they certainly were biased towards him during the Safin match. It should be interesting.

Everybody~~please send lots of good energy to Cincy today.
They (as well as I) are under a heat advisory/warning today~~~prediction~~40 to 43 plus heat index today.

The only thing that scares me a little is that Robbie is more used to the humid heat being from Georgia (USA)~~but~~~nobody gets used to the kind of heat that is predicted today!

I hope Rogi makes it quick!!
Go Ninja :bounce:

43C is not common for Georgia, I can't imagine playing tennis in such conditions. http://bestsmileys.com/hot/3.gif . The only proper thing to do is-http://bestsmileys.com/undersun/2.gif

I'm afraid he needs a hat today. A bandanna won't help against sunstroke.

43C is so much. I can barely handle the constant 32C here (all year, though), can't imagine playing tennis under that heat. I hope he wears a hat as well, and hopefully his time in Dubai made him ready for such conditions.

Well, this thread has gone the distance so I won't read all of it, but let's all hope that today he plays a much better match than his previous one against Acasuso (:o). He played one good game in the second set and couldn't do much in the second until Acasuso threw all away, he says he's confident now that he's in the SF and that should help.

Good luck, Roger!

 for you. Hope your PPlive works just in time :wavey:

Roger will be fine. What makes things a little better for you (if you fail to get any live coverage unfortunately) is that at least he is not getting Safin :p

Oh my...43 C is beyond any human being...
Roger, take it as quickly as possible if you don't want to become a steamed piggy...

It's proabaly a good thing he's playing during the day because the crowd won't be as large (and therefore not as loud) as at night. Plus the final will be played during the day so Roger won't have to adjust to the different conditions. I'm not already putting a W by Roger's name because Ginepri has been playing well this summer, the crowd will be biased in his favor and Roger hasn't been 100% this week. Of course Rog is still the favorite and he should beat Ginepri, but you just never know. I just hope Lleyton beats Andy, because I think he'd be easier for Rog to beat this week. Andy would certainly have the crowd on his, he's been serving well and Roger's return game isn't quite back to normal yet.

Star Sports won't show tennis it's confirmed. It's said CCTV5 will show semi live today. They also said they will show QF replay NOW, but still some shit on at the moment. So if they don't show the semi live, please don't blame on me :p :o

I think that Roger needs to face Andy to get his normal return game back :)

We're getting ahead of ourselves. Ginepri is a tough customer. And he'll have the crowd behind him.
