I hope Nico can relax enough to play his best in Cincy. And win or lose, drop or defend the 400 pts-you're the best Nico! :worship:

So true, so true Nicofan.

I think Nico will have a better showing next week. Perhaps not defend the entire 400 pts but ya never know! And no matter what happens next week I think it will be a relief for him ( and Fena) to be past the week of defending their pts from the Olympics. After Cincy they can just concentrate on playing their best without the pressure of points. The points are like this menacing shadow behind them that gets closer every week. And it will be gone after Cincy no matter what happens. Anyway, that's my take on the situation. :)

I know how you feel Alonso - I'm going to Cincy and can't wait to see him again, but at the same time, it will be hard to watch him if he doesn't do well. Poor Nico... How come bad things happen to him all the time? Doesn't seem fair.

And its okay Alonso about being emotional - you can be emotional any time you want....

I definitely will!!! I will be there vamos'ing him the entire match...lol!!!!

And I'm going to try to sit with the Chilean fans so I'll have someone to translate what he says on court...lol! We all know how much Nico loves to talk throughout the entire match. ;)

And will try to get a lot of good pictures... :) Especailly during doubles - the chicos both have a good time out there during doubles.

Yup, we have to believe Alonso - you're right that Tim hasn't been playing well so if Nico can just play well, he has a chance.

Oh well I'll be there rooting him on...

:sobbing: If anyone was in need of a good draw it was our Nico. No luck...But you may have heard this before-Impossible is Nothing! Henman is beatable. Nico just has to bring his confidence to the court and he will win.

Buena Suerte Nico-you can do it!!!

And Nicofan-have a great trip to Cincinnati! I'll look forward to a full report and pics!

Hey everyone - went to Cincy this past week. Had an excellent time despite the fact that Nico lost.

Nico really was trying and practicing so hard before the match. He was putting in extra time on the court, doing practice drills. And was laughing and smile, really seemed motivated and upbeat. He was just so funny at times during practice. And the boy just talks non-stop at times...lol!!!!!!!!!!!

During the match, he started off well, but when he didn't break Tim, he got broken, and then frustration set in. He was trying different things - even tried to serve and volley with Tim - but nothing worked. Then when he was broken on his first serve, he just lost his fire.

It was just so sad - I felt like crying all day - thank goodness Fena pulled out his match or I would have just come back early to New York.

With Gaby back now, Nico'll come back. Gaby will help him get his confidence back.

Have some good pictures - I'll upload them here tonight or tomorrow evening.

Going to New Haven so will get more reports and more pictures. I will be so relieved to see Gaby with him. And his dad is coming up too - I think that he needs the support right now. He looked so bummed the day after the Henman match, and on Tuesday. He didn't seem happy again until yesterday - was so happy to see him smiling again yesterday.

So don't give up on our Nico - it may take Gaby a couple of months to work on Nico's game, but in 2006 - Nico will be back and kicking a*s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW - Nico went to Fena's match against David after his practice was over - got a good picture of him sitting in the stands. I thought that was so sweet of him to go and root his friend on. He stayed from the 2nd set right through until just before the last game.
