I have never met him, but when he plays at the US OPEN, I try always to go see him.
They usually put him on the outer courts, which is fine with me (the stadium - Ashe
is too big for tennis).... He is always beautiful to watch - both his playing and of
course, himself!

I met Moya in an autograph session at the NASDAQ 100 (Miami) this past April. He took pictures with my kids, and gave us all signed Bablot flyers, plus he signed each of our balls.

I have some pics of him not shown with my kids that I could post, but I don't know how to post a picture. Does someone want to tell me how and I can try.

I met Moya once in 1999 during the Paris Bercy Indoor outside his hotel, one evening (at 10pm). (It was the period when I often went to the players hotel, now this period is over, I thnk). He signed my spanish flag, took a picture with me and took the time to speak a little bit with my friend and me. There was also Felix Mantilla with him, who has also been very nice (photo, sign on the flag). At this period, everyone was supporting Corretja, so Carlos was a bit lonely cause he was coming back from this back injury. So, he was happy that some fans were taking care of him :)

We kept the memory of Carlos, with his wet hair, very handsome. At that period, he wasn't my favourite Spanish player, it was Alex Corretja, Carlos was close number 2 and close to be my number 1. Since that day, he became my favourite spanish player, sounds stupid maybe, but I can't explain, he has been so nice.

Since, I saw him in different tournaments each year (Monaco, Roland-Garros and Bercy indoor mainly) but not talked with him anymore.

That year was great for me in Bercy because I also saw Thomas (my fave player) sitting just a row behind me waiting for his practrice. People from the atp congratulated him for his victory in the MS Stuttgart the week before. So, it was a great great week for me, and the best Bercy of my life I think. Great year 1999 !!!

PS : I added two pics, the pic of Carlos that evening and the sign on my spanish flag

I first saw Carlos in real life in Rotterdam 1996. Then in Roland Garros every year. I remember Carlos as being a very kindhearted person. Very beautiful as well! People stare when he walks by ;) (women AND men)

Last April I was in Barcelona and I was at the praticecourts. I saw a few sides of Carlos: sweet, funny bad and cheeky Carlos:lol:. Here's a little piece from my BLOG:

Because the next match doesn’t start before 12.50 we go to the practice courts to see who’s there. We also watch a little bit of the Coria – Wessels match.. it’s too boring....At the practice courts Rafael is just leaving. It’s very crowded at the back courts. Moya is still there. I decide to stay and watch Carlos:inlove:. I mean, now I have the chance I might as well make the most of it. One kid drops his giant tennisball on the court. Carlos throws it back but not hard enough so it rolls back. Then Carlos decides to be a bad Carlos and he kicks the ball out of the court!!! Oh come on!! How could he do that?! Poor kid paid a lot of money for it! Had autographs on it too!!! The ball nearly crashes into a window of a tent on the next court. Carlos goes: OOPS!

My mobile rings, it’s my friend Laura:hug:. She’s from Barcelona and will be here today as well. It will be so great seeing her again. She’s waiting for her tickets so we’ll meet later on. I’m NOT leaving here! Hahaha! Oh, they’re closing the gate again, but this time the people here are allowed to stay. Good. Carlos has to do a few interviews for tv. It’s fun to watch. Not many people left here, jus some kids and some grown ups. Joan Bosch points out to Carlos that he has to go to us for some pics and autographs. So when the tv people are gone, he comes over! Muchas gracias Joan!! :inlove: The man's got gorgeous eyes!!!
Carlos poses for pics with the kids. Then he looks at me and has this look on his face: hmm.. :scratch:you’re no kid:p!! Haha! But he signs the photo anyway! He’s sweet:hug:! When he’s finished he jumps the gate and leaves the court. Boy oh boy.... How I love this man!:hearts:

The way he looked at me was priceless! hahahaha! Okay, I was the only adult there asking for an autograph I think! :haha: He didn't mind. Talked to him a few times in RG too...but it's too long ago. He was always very kind.

Met Carlos this year at Australian Open! He is an extremely charming person, very nice, friendly and polite! :wavey:
His English is very cute LOL.... Been Carlos's fan for many years, he is just one of the most lovely and modest person ever! My feeling is: Carlos is not a fighter but a lover.... He has such a loving heart, such a warm personality!
Vamos Carlos, you deserve the best! :worship: :)

Oi Denise! Tudo bem? Well I have to change my report! I've met Carlos one year ago at Buenos Aires! It was great and a awesome experience! I do have pictures, but they are not good quality. I had my camrecorder with me so I made some videos. It's on youtube and the links are at videos thread. I was planning to go this year again, but unfotunately it is just on carnaval, there is no more tickets to Buenos Aires, all flights are booked!! That's unbelievable. He is coming to Brazil, but Bahia is to far away and way more expensive than Argentine! Crazy! Will watch on TV! But I' still want to see him and Marat at once! Will try it!!! :)

my friends saw him practising at the Sydney tournament and apparently he didn't sign many autographs. However I saw him practising at the Australian Open and he was very friendly there, signing many autographs. He was in a good mood, despite knowing that he would have to play James Blake in the first round after losing to him a few days ago in the Sydney final!

Oi Ale, qto tempo! tudo bem sim e vc?
Have you met Carlos at Buenos Aires? Why you didn't tell before? :p Show me the videos and the pictures, I'd like to see them. Tell me how is carlos? Did you talk to him? Lucky girl. It's sad you won't see him in Buenos Aires. Btw, you are totally right, it's very expensive to go to Brasil Open, it's not so far of Brasília but Costa do Sauipe-Ba it's a expensive place, the tickers must be expensive too. I'd love to see Carlos in live as well as Marat! I have to do it, I will try as well :p

Yes I have met Carlos ... but I didn't actually talk to him 'close up' until 2002 in Melbourne, then again 'close up' in 2005 after one of his doubles matches on the outside courts. Of course I was nervous being so close, etc., but he put me at ease immediately. He is very nice, polite and thankful to his fans.

I have been a big Moya fan since his 'breakthrough' year in 1997, when he beat defending A.O. champion Boris Becker in the first round and got to the final of the Aussie Open against Pete Sampras that year.

The first time I saw Carlos in person was at the Sydney International in January 2001 where he lost to Bastl in an evening match (I was in the 2nd row). He then went to Melbourne, beat Lleyton Hewitt and got to the quarters in A.O. in Melbourne that year (against Grosjean), so I swore I'd go to Melbourne each year after that.
I have been going to the Aussie Open each year (first week) since 2002. I have his headband from his first round match I saw in 2002 (he beat Augustin Calleri in 5 sets, though in the last set of that match Calleri retired hurt). Since then I've been there and suffered with Carlos during his early-round defeats (excluding 2004, when he couldn't play as he was hurt in the Sydney final against Hewitt the week before). I hold up signs, wear my Spanish hat & wave the Spanish colours, so he knows I am there (as do others who probably think I'm weird!!). I also follow him at the doubles matches, usually on the outside courts where you get closer to the action (he usually loses doubles early on, but I expect that, he is not really a threat as a doubles player, but enjoys playing). Last year (2006) it was a 'one off' thrill to see him play mixed doubles in A.O. with his girlfriend Flavia Pennetta, in the main stadium (Rod Laver Arena) after the match was moved there due to heat conditions outside. They lost of course, and Flavia seemed to 'carry' Carlos in the match, but you could see they enjoyed playing together. (I moved out of my 'real' seat and sneaked down as close to the court as I could without getting thrown out ;) )

It sometimes gets a bit depressing to see him lose early year after year (he has lost in the first round of A.O. each year for the last 3 years!! :( ). This year, in hindsight, I wished I had gone to Sydney instead of Melbourne and followed him throught to that final against James Blake ... but I guess as soon as I decide to go back to Sydney instead, Carlos will lose THERE in the first round ... who knows? I'm just glad he did so well in Sydney, and I'm glad I've been able to watch him play 'live' at all - and I usually manage to get courtside whenever I'm there!
So I look forward to January again next year, and will follow Carlos all through the year. Not happy about the Brazil Open news this morning (first round loss again!) ... but I'm a big fan so I will support him forever!
[and I'll chase up some pics. to post next time perhaps]

I've only met Carlos in my dreams..he has never come near here to play and I haven't been lucky enough to be anywhere he was. I tape any match that they show on TV..I have both DC matches against the US where he beats Fish and Roddick and I watch them whenever i need inspiration! I've heard that he is a wonderful gentle person...a good human being and that makes me feel good...not "just" a pretty face! Vamos Baby and good luck in Buenos Aires!  :inlove:
