Taking Michael Phelps to win the 200m freestyle tonight @ 1.36. Saw him yesterday in the semis, one word: impressive. He wants revenge for his stupid mistake on the 400m, did it a bit too easy on the 400m and did not reach the finals.

So many Aussies taking away all the medals.

We are nothing without Hoogie en De Bruijn, sadly enough.

Only Veldhuis is real class (she had the best time on the 4x100m free). Taking her on the 100m free in about a few days. Should be nice odds.

hmm, i have seen here and heard a lot about her

well i appreciate 3 years is a long time in swimming, a new face can easily pop up, but factor in she is still a kid, only going to get better, she has marked herself as the clear favourite.

sure, at this point in time she is the favourite - I totally agree...

but Lenton has more talent, and more firepower. if she puts in the work, she should be better than Schipper. but I also wouldnt count out another Katie Hoff popping up in the US.

if only swimming betting was more commonplace, I would be a very rich man by now .

July 26th finals:

MENS

200m free: Phelps (1.40) from Hackett, Sprenger and Rosolino.

The big ugly yank will have too much (swimming) class for this field.

100m back: Peirsol (1.42) from Bal, Rogan and Morita.

Peirsol is the 3rd generation of American males who have dominated this stroke. Jeff Rouse - Lenny Krayzelburg - now Aaron Peirsol. Thanks to the continuing improvements in technology, he also holds the world records for all 3 distances in the discipline, as far as I am aware.

WOMENS

100m back: Couglin (1.45) with Buschulte and Coventry fighting out the minors.

Again, class will prevail, and you shall be witness to the best underwater streamline work in womens swimming - an area in which the US is far more efficient than AUS.

1500m free: I am close friends with both the Aussie girls in this event, Steph and Sarah, but sadly they both failed to final. With the absence of the beautiful frenchgirl Laure Manadou, this looks a race in two between Cooke and Conway.

On betfair, both these swimmers aren't listed individually, therefore a bet on THE FIELD @ 1.53 appears a mighty fine option from where I'm sitting, with 6th seeded American champ Kate Ziegler the only unlikely danger. In fact, I have just realised that Ziegler is the only name individually listed in the race - therefore a bet on THE FIELD = 7 swimmers against 1, not forgetting that Ziegler only qualified 6th for the final.

The use of BOLD denotes a banker ;).

Back tomorrow with more...

Edit: no womens 100br for some reason , Liesel would have had nice odds.

July 26th finals:

MENS

200m free: Phelps (1.40) from Hackett, Sprenger and Rosolino.

ANOTHER WINNER: 1st: Phelps - 2nd: Hackett

100m back: Peirsol (1.42) from Bal, Rogan and Morita.

YET ANOTHER WINNER: 1st: Peirsol - 2nd: Bal

WOMENS

100m back: Couglin (1.45) with Buschulte and Coventry fighting out the minors.

Even the 8 year olds don't fade as badly as Coughlin did today. She gave up a 3/4 bodylength lead in the last 15m , but I still tipped the trifecta :p.

1st: Coventry - 2nd: Buschulte - 3rd: Coughlin

1500m free:

Result: Ziegler really was holding back in the heats, she blitzed the field. Sure winner for the 800m.

27 JULY Finals:

MENS

200m fly: all fresh faces here, with Phelps electing to skip it. Matsuda, Skvortsov and Korzeniowski should take out the medals, and I would expect either the Russian or the Pole to win it.

50m breast: Duboscq @ 3.10 is some nice value, otherwise take THE FIELD @ 2.20

800m free: Hackett hardly worth it @ 1.15

WOMENS

200m Free: should be the best race of the night. with the absence of Potec, should be a race in 2 between Figues and Pellegrini - just like in Athens last year. Im giving the nod to the french girl @ 4.50

If there is an option of Hackett to break the world record, conisder it some value.

In any case Hacket to win is a 100 unit play :p

My picks:

Schoeman to win 100m free - $1.50 (8 units)

The guy posses the fastest reaction time in the world if not the fastest, he blistering from the blocks and has got the speed to burn. Can't see anyone getting close

Jess Schipper to win 200m fly - $2.45 (2 units)

Not a big play here given she is up against the big polish unit Jedrzejczak but she has the form on the board this meet, and based on her qualifying time she can cause some problems for the Polish lass.

good luck

This guy definately hasnt learnt from the past. :o

Can't find the odds for tonight on Betfair, or am I blind on this early morning?
