Hi Aleta :D
Happy you like the picture thread

Du bist aus Kölle?;)

03-07-2003, 12:50 PM
Hey M!ssunderstood,

Jo, ich bin ein escht Kölsches Mädsche

I already saw your "Colown" ;) I tried to write Kölle but they just let me chose the country. And after all, the first thing I had to take care of is my personal Marat-avatar :D
BTW: I like your avatar, where is that pic from ?

Marat has comitted to play the World Team Cup in Düsseldorf :bounce: just like Haas, are you gonna go there ?

03-07-2003, 01:50 PM
Na , dann hast du den Karneval gut überstanden? ;)Ich nicht so ganz, komme nur aus der Nähe von Köln;)

Well, the avatar pic was taken in RG, 2001 i think . Yeah i love i too:D I change my avatar very often , because there are so many great pics of Marat:drool: :D BTw, i love your one too :)

Yepp, i will go to Dusseldorf Tourney in May, especially to see Marat, of course :D but also all other players. Can`t wait ... I was already there last year and it was just amazing! you will be there too? that would be great.
Well, i don`t like Tommy Haas at all. I think that he`s a very arrogant etc. Saw him also last year at WTC and his acting with his fans and all...

03-07-2003, 02:13 PM

No Karneval fo me this year, I am preparing for my final exams at the University :fiery:

That is also why I do not know yet if I will have time to go to the WTC, it is gonna be right around my exams. I REALLY REALLY wanna go, heart says YES but brain says NO - shizophrenic  Have to see how far I get with my studies until then.

I used to dislike Tommy because of his arrogance but then in some interviews he was very likable again. For now he is on my favs camp, though not on my ABSOLUTE favs camp. I prefer Kiwi, if he would ever play well again

03-07-2003, 02:32 PM
Ui, what a real pity you couldn`t enjoy Karneval. Sorry you have so much work. Wish you good Luck with your exams.
Well well...hope you are able to come to Dusseldorf. I`ll miss school for 1 week, because i go to WTC, lol:angel: :D I hope i won`t have any exams then, but i don`t know yet.

I also prefer Kiwi :) Hope he comes back, soon. And Rainer Schuettler is nice. So who are your ABSOLUTE Faves? ;)

03-07-2003, 09:14 PM
Thanks for the luck wishes :) I might need it

My absolute favs are Marat, Carlos and FedEX but I have a lot of other players I like to watch like Youzhny, Blake, Novak and Ferrero. Among the Germans I really like Kiwi, admire Schüttlers determination and work ethics and like I said Tommy has gained some ground by some good interviews.

I do hope I will be able to go to the WTC, will depend on wether I will sign up to take the exams at the beginning of May or June.

What are your favs, only Marat or do you like some others as well ?

03-07-2003, 09:58 PM
Well you can read my faves besides Marat in my signature ;) Marat is my absolute fave, than there comes the others i like...a bit more and less, you know.
Yepp, i also have many many players i like to watch, because of their game. but for me the most watchable game has Marat
:D ;)

welcome Aleta4 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

an article :
Sampras Withdraws; Wild Cards Announced

American tennis veterans Michael Chang and Todd Martin, 1999 Indian Wells Champion Mark Philippoussis of Australia and Mario Ancic of Croatia have been awarded wild cards into the main draw of the 2003 Pacific Life Open, which is presented by the City of Indian Wells.
They join a men’s field which includes defending champion Lleyton Hewitt of Australia, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and James Blake of the United States, Gustavo “Guga” Kuerten of Brazil, Roger Federer of Switzerland and Marat Safin of Russia.

Two-time champion Pete Sampras, Guillermo Cañas, Nicolas Escude, Tommy Haas, Paul-Henri Mathieu and Greg Rusedski have withdrawn from the event.

“We are disappointed that Pete won’t be back at the Pacific Life Open,” said Charlie Pasarell, Tournament Director. “Our fans have always enjoyed watching this great champion compete at our event. We wish him and his family well as he decides on his future.”

Chang, a three-time Pacific Life Open champion (1992, 1996, 1997), announced earlier this year that following the 2003 US Open, he will be retiring from the tour after a remarkable 16-year career. He has won 34 singles titles, including the 1989 French Open, and is the first Asian American to reach the world’s Top 10, where he held the career-high No. 2 spot in 1996. Chang, along with Agassi, are the only two players in ATP history to win a singles title in three different decades. He will be honored during an on-court ceremony at the 2003 Pacific Life Open.

Martin, an Illinois native, has won 10 singles titles throughout his long career, including back-to-back wins in Memphis in 1994 and 1995. A doubles finalist at the 1998 Pacific Life Open, he is a two-time singles quarterfinalist at the tournament. He was a finalist at both the 1994 Australian Open and 1999 US Open. Chang and Martin were also wild card entries at the Pacific Life Open in 2002.

Philippoussis, a former champion of this event in 1999, has played consistently well at the Pacific Life Open. He is a nine-time career singles title holder and finalist at the 1998 US Open, where he lost to fellow Aussie Patrick Rafter in four sets. Ancic, 18, climbed 187 positions in the ATP Champions Race in 2002. He qualified at his Wimbledon debut, then defeated Federer, the No. 9 seed, in the first round.

In addition to 52 direct entries, eight players will advance through the 32-player qualifying draw, held March 8 and 9, into the main draw.
