Thank you Alonso sweetie...and a  for you too cuz I know you're sad too.

I feel like crying....

But after Kitzbuhel, he's here in my home turf. I'll see him in Washington, Cincy, Pilot Pen, and the US Open.

And I'll try to take good care of him.

NicoFan

I'm sooooo disgusted.

I cannot cannot cannot take another week of listening to all of Chile talking about the "dream" matchup. Yeah - Nico's at about 50% physically in his comeback from his injuries, and a matchup with him and Fena is a dream? Well, for Chile yes, because Fena is a "god" there, and Nico is nada there. But for Nico's fans, its a nightmare.

Sh*t... :bigcry:

And if he plays doubles again, I'll going to have to yell at him...lol! Doubles are like so UNIMPORTANT right now when he has all these points to defend.

If he loses early, he's got to get on the first plane to Washington. Every second of practice on the hardcourts could make a big different for him - even winning a round there would give him some points - something doubles can't do.

Read and weep:

I think that Nico needs to come live here in NYC ;) - they adored him last year in the US Open - all the women were saying how adorable he was...lol! And they got a kick out of the way he talks to himself on court. If Chile can't give him enough love, we can!

Ditto with Horacio. Geez, I can't believe that they voted against his nationalization - especially when the people of Chile like him. He's one of the best coaches in tennis, everything he's done for Chile, no one coming up as tennis players after Fena and Nico, and they turn him down?

We need clay court coaches desperately in the US - Jim Courier was saying during one match that we need to get our players trained on clay, and have some clay court tournaments for juniors here because 1/2 the season is on clay, and none of the Americans can do anything on it - time to fix the problem. Horacio would be welcomed with open arms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And hey Alonso - like the thread title says - keeping the faith!

His 2nd and 3rd rounds are fairly easy.

And who knows? Fena isn't the fittest of players...we can hope/wish/pray that he's starting to get tired by the QF time. That's why he's not playing the week after Kitzbuhel so he can rest before the masters series events. And Nico plays better with each match.

We can hope anyway...lol!!!!!!!!!

I know Nico has a tougher draw here but that hasn't stopped him in the past. I finally went to the Kitzbuhel website and it is so wonderful to see Nico all over the place! Anyway, its got me a little psyced up for Nico there and I have a good feeling on his chances. I know he has to meet Fernando way too soon in the tournament but he would have to meet a tough opponant in any section, just rather it wasn't Fena! I really really want Nico to go all the way in this one. Buena Suerte Nico!!! :hatoff:

So so so very proud of NICO!!! What a win!!!!!!!!!

Hope he's okay here though - they said that he didn't look well. I'm kind of worried about him because they said he fell twice? Those that watched it, do you think he's okay??? That's the most important thing.

Hope he has something left for Verdasco tomorrow, but either way, Nico deserves a big  because he was a warrior out there today. :)

This win really helps his ranking situation - I figured that even if he loses all the Olympics points, with these 110 points here in Kitz so far the worse he can go down to after Cincy is about 52-53. Is that right Alonso?

+alonso
07-29-2005, 06:55 PM
well nico fell down twice but.. no problem was just fatigue ;) relax .remember he is still trying to come back
oh yes nico has so much power :p hope he have a 2-sets match against verdasco

Ouch i dunno nico .. the only thing i know is after cinci everything is gonna be in order again

I hope so Alonso....I can't help it, I worry about Nico..lol! And hard when I can't see the matches and can only follow them on the computer. I don't want to see him injured again.

I hope that he wins tomorrow too, but only if he can do it without hurting himself. That was a tough match today.

From the atp site - what Nico had to say after the match with Lapentti:

Massu: ďItís difficult to play in this heat, 46 degrees inside a centre court. Itís concrete all around you so itís even hotter and it was hard to breathe. I fought against this throughout the whole match. It was tough to find air and I was lacking oxygen throughout the match.

ďAt the start of the third set, I started to feel some cramp. Iíve never had cramps in my life so it was scary but luckily I won that game. I tried to play shorter points from then on and luckily the cramps didnít continue.

ďIíve had a tough year with my health. It was tough as I was playing the best tennis of my life and then I got injured so it was tough. Iím feeling well physically now. To win in a tournament where I have great memories, Iíll always come back here as long as I can. My game suits Kitzbuhel well. I have great memories here and I hope that can continue that this year.Ē

On Verdasco tomorrow: ďI hope I can perform tomorrow as I have been. He plays pretty quickly but Iíll try to impose my game. Itís important to rest first but my desire is there. My desire to get back to the top is there so I think that will favor me. Mentally Iím very strong and very positive. From the three hours we played today, I was strong the whole match, thinking how I could win which is very positive as itís not easy to do that.Ē

Nico lost 6-3, 3-6, 5-7.

But he fought so hard!!!

I am soooo very very very proud of him.

Great tournament - on the comback trail, and he gets to the SFs!

No shame in losing to someone like Verdasco.

Lots of  to Nico though because I know he's bumming...he loves Kitz. I think though after a couple of days, he'll realize how great he did!

Such a warrior - just love this guy! :)

So sad he lost but he fought to the end and I didn't think he would have that much in him after yesterday. So proud of him and his fighting spirit. :worship:
You're the best Nico. As far as I'm concerned getting to the semis here is as good as winning the whole thing when you're still coming back.

And really, the last 3 tournies he's been in he's made the the quarters in one and the semis in two (if memory serves me right) Any player would be happy with those reslults even if not injured! Love ya Nico!!!
