So... my chances of stalking Mr. Djokovic around Montreal when I arrive there on Sunday are looking not too horrible as long as he qualifies :) I'm glad he's even on the list. GO NOVAK!

Quick, 4 people pull out!

Seriously, I'm going to decide last minute whether or not I'm going up Sunday. It will depend on the schedule ;)

I can't wait to see which of our players barely ranked in the top 800 will get a WC :p

Fred and Frank will get Main draw WCs for sure, but who else will? For the love of God, please nobody else Canadian ;) We'll probably throw them at one of our juniors who would benefit more from a qualie WC

Murray gets for sure a WC for quali. may he doesn't need 1 if enough players pull out :bounce:

Oh. Well I'd like to see him play, but don't bet on it. Never underestimate Tennis Canada's power to WC players ranked 1903829 into MS events.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised to see them give one to Sebastien Lareau who is retired...

I would give one to Bester..

anybody can please bring an update list? There are no updates: the qualifying list just came out this week.

there is one unofficial update. Since Federer has said that he won't play, Alberto Martin will get in to the main draw and come off the qualie list, so Clement will get in. Also, anyone who entered a Challenger for that same week will eventually be taken off the alternate lists, but the ATP usually doesn't update the lists until much closer to the event.

I think there are quite a few in the main entry list who will pull out (Federer, Safin, Joachim Johansson, Canas for a start), so a few of those on the qualies list will get into the main draw, and a few of the alternatives will get into the Qualies.

what with Verdasco?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Is he hoping that enough players will pull out that he'll get into the main draw directly? I also noticed that he's not on the qualie entry list for Cincy either.

I was under the impression that enough players have pulled out for him to get into the main draw. Smucov just hasn't updated the list because he's at Legg Mason this week.

There haven't been any updates (except for Federer's early withdrawal). They usually don't start coming in until Tuesday/Wednesday of the week before the event.

Verdasco was ranked #58 at the time of the qualifying entry deadline so he would have made it in, but he must have decided not to enter & take his chances getting in the main draw off the alternate list.

Santoro  He has so many points to defend. I watched him in Toronto make it all the way to the quarterfinals with a win over Hewitt. He played so well, especially in the doubles and was so great to all the fans that cheered for him like crazy, I just hope he can defend atleast some of the points.

Usually Friday about 9:30 or 10 pm local time. All qualifiers have to sign in on site before the draw is made.

well, I saw him training (sparing with Felix), and playing in Umag last week, killed Calatrava and played solid vs JCF, was 4*1 down in 1st set, came to 4 all, but then choked.... 64 62 at the end....

he was there until thursday when he lost (let) doubles, then went to play German Bundesliga....

he was partying on wednesday night until 4-5 a.m.... ;)

spoke to his trainer a bit, said they are expecting a lot of USA hardcourt season....

i don't know who is in charge of Novak but they made some bad decisions wasting 5 weeks where only 1 tournament they played in! Novak should have played Indy and Washington and LA that would have got him exposure

Andy Murray plays the QFs of Vancouver Challenger today so if he wins that he won't play qualifying. And I think he is just taking next week off and trying in Cincinatti instead.

Yeah. If he does lose today he might play the Montreal qualies because even if he were to qualify chances are he'd have the best part of a week off anyway bowing out early in the masters series proper. Whatever happens he probably won't be asking for a wildcard into Binghampton any more which should please Fee as it's one more for Gambill to receive if he wants it :D
I'll be happy if he doesnt play the qualies too because it'd mean Ivo Heuberger'd get in, I met him once and he seemed a really nice guy. I'm really happy Takao got in too :worship:

The Binghampton website is stating that they have already given a WC to Murray, soooooo
Plan A - he wins in Vancouver today, pulls from Montreal, and goes to Binghampton
Plan B - he loses today, goes to Montreal and skips Binghampton
Plan C - he loses today, pulls from Montreal and goes to Binghampton (giving himself 2 days to fly from the West Coast to the East Coast and get some rest).

What will he do?

(personally, I think JMG is taking a week off to get ready for Cincy qualies where he has a WC and knows he's in, but I can't even come close to following his thinking these days).

Whatever happens in Vancouver he should pull from both tournaments and focus on the Cincinnati qualies. He needs a rest. It's all very well for us sitting here saying what he should be playing! But its not that easy! :)
