What do you hope the most for Rogi to achieve/do more in 2005?

Call me greedy or delusional or whatever. But I can't help thinking of this.

We all know his goals in 2005 are to remain as No.1 in the world and to defend the Wimbledon title. Now it seems he's already done both of them(I know the year-ending No.1 is still far ahead and he will have to work hard for it but practically, unless Rogi retires tomorrow or severely injures, almost certain for YEC to be his).

Then what's more for you to want to see from him this year? Nothing more? Alright, OK if you think he's done enough already. But I'm greedier than you are  Here's my list:

First, I want him to defend USO and Masters Cup titles :yeah:

Second, I want to see him crushing Safin AND Nadal in the course of defending USO and MC(to the extent that he's done to Roddick and Hewitt at Wimby:devil: ).

Still I think I'm not that greedy. Those're just tiny weeny little two wishes ;) Now, I want to know, what's yours?

Hi Soonha how are you? :wavey:

Same as yours- USO and TMC are the two most important events left in the year and hunting down a hippo and a pig along the way would be a sweet bonus

Also I would like to see him win Cincinnati since he has never won there before and capture Basel and one of the two indoor TMS events.

Of course next year I would dearly love to see him win both the Australian and the French beating Safin and Nadal in both finals of those events respectively.

I would like to see him defend the USO, it would make the year again spectacular, despite missing out on the AO. pointswise he would beat his performance last year although the record books will still show its not as good as last year
i would really like to see him defend the USO. and he better because i will be at Arthur Ashe for the final!!!!

1. stay healthy
2. end year #1
3. defend masters cup

4. defend USO
5. give nadal one REALLY good thrashing, so everybody can shut up about him being the one that can beat rogi etc.

Win Basel, and win TMC (I'll be there cheering and celebrating for him :bigclap: )

And, defend the US Open, just bringing the revenge stage a little earlier than next AusOpen, by beating Safin in the final in an even more thrilling 5 setters than the AusOpen semi :p

Those are the same things that come to my mind. It seems Roger would have a very good chance at winning the US Open. It would be good to see him crush Nadal and show the world that Nadal only had the upper hand when he was on clay.

Of course however the draws turn out will make a difference. If Roger gets a tougher schedule with night time slots and back to back matches because of rain it could put him at a disadvantage. It's possible Roger would have to play Safin in a QF and Nadal in an SF. That could make him very tired for a final unless Roger truly figures out a way to crush these guys. I just hope he won't get the worst case scenario in draws and rain delays.

Bump.

When I heard of Rogi pulling out of the Rogers cup, I just hope he(and his precious feet) will be staying healthy. Neither USO nor TMS means anything. Any more. :scared:

I'm sad (and a bit worried about his feet too) - but want him to remain No 1 and hope he can retain the US Open title. He set himself 2 goals for 2005 - win Wimby (accomplished) and retain his No 1 ranking (more than likely). I'd also like him to give Nadal a good thrashing somewhere along the way! But I guess most of all, I just want his feet to stay healthy. It must be so frustrating for him. He didn't seem to have this trouble last year.

definately the main goal for me for him(if u know what i mean) is the us open, grand slams are the ultimate prize. then the masters cup(and preferably 5-0 again). and then basel as i know he really wants to win it, hometown and all, and davis cup(even though im british,my love for my country is nothing compared to my love for roger!) as he also really wants the swiss to pull through, i expect quite a beatdown anyway,4-1.

Roger says his main goal for the rest of the year is to the Masters Cup at the end of the year.
I also want him to win the USO again.

I am speculating here, but my feeling is that winning Basel would mean a lot to Roger, even if it is considered to be a mickey mouse event by commentators and some fans alike.

Therefore I join those who mentioned Basel and Shanghai.

I agree with your ideas. I'd like him to win the Madrid MS also ....just for fun. It all sounds like so much to ask for after how hard Roger has already won this year.

Basel is right in between Madrid and Paris MS events. If it comes down to needing the points to stay #1 then maybe he should focus on the MS events. If points aren't an issue then yeah....go for Basel.

I'll make your wishes mine as well. We'll end up sounding very greedy, but that's Roger's fault. :hearts:

I want him to win the US Open, Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai, 2 ATP Masters Series (Cincinnati and Madrid - I'd love for him to win Paris, but back-to-back action in Madrid, Basel and Paris seems harsh just weeks before the TMC, so I'll go with the first two titles and then a week of rest), Basel, Davis Cup tie and Bangkok.

Basically I want him to stay undefeated for the rest of the year. I'd like for him to beat convincingly all the top players, especially Safin and Nadal. If he doesn't meet them, it just mean they're not good enough to compete against Roger so what's to worry about? But I'm sure they'll meet each other before the year ends, and it's ought to be soon.
