Rogi isn't attacking enough in my opinion... he hit some awesome shots to break at 2-2, but I think he's a little too passive;) sure Mathieu is a tough opponent for a 1st round match, but our expectations are high;)! Mathieu is the most aggressive so far, but he also makes a lot of UFES.. and Roger's defense is great:)

I was listening to the BBC radio coverage on Five Live and they seemed kinda down on Roger's game today. One of the female commentators was talking about how Roger doesn't look right out there, something's off. But isn't it always hard the first match of a grand slam to find your game, find your rhythm? The commentators on ESPN were saying something like that, and that they expect him to get better as the tournament goes on. Plus his opponent was clearly the underdog and had nothing to lose so of course he would play aggressive, take it to Roger. I just get so annoyed when commentators get down on him if he doesn't win 6-0 or 6-1 sets. :(

Good opening match and a good warmup for the champion. Does anyone know where we can write to complain to ESPN Star Sports about the coverage? How is it that we get 2 full hours of a match between players ranked something like 51st and 82nd versus 30 minutes of the men's No. 1????? I am sure lots of Star's Indian viewers wanted to watch their compatriot play, but I would bet more would have wanted to watch Roger! Thanks for the updates, everyone. I don't post here often but really appreciate the forums when the live scoreboards are not working properly. The Wimbledon shot tracker didn't work at all for me and the service speeds were way way off -- Federer and Mathieu serving at 60 mph: yeah, right!

And then these same commentators wonder why Roger sometimes doesn't look quite right out there? I mean geez, if he doesn't play an absolute perfect match, then it's "he's not at his best", "a shaky start for Federer", ect. Imagine the pressue. He's not just under pressure to win, but to win comfortably - no breaks of serve, no break points against him, ect. It's really annoying, and unfair I think. Go back and look at Sampras' career. He didn't always win the early matches comfortably. But he was good enough and raised his game when he needed to. Roger obviously did that in the second set of this match.

Hey, thanks for the commentary, guys! Too bad they didn't show Rogi's match in its entirety this morning and had to show it again... so silly! They showed all of Lindsay and Maraty's matches -- both played v well vs. v weak opponents [so disappointed in
Paradorn today... ].

Anyway, Rogi won in straights altho not a great match -- got broken but showed some cool shots and aces. Has to improve that breakpt % but it's always a little dicey R1 when you're dble defending champ and No 1 and w all the pressure in the world on your shoulders, so Rogi did well!
