WIMBLEDON!!!!

Tommy's worst surface, and his worst slam... so maybe this time he can change something... I don't know - he played really crappy last year, I mean Dupuis almost beat him.

But this year I'm optimistic - good few matches at Halle and his net skills have seemed to have sharpened slightly.

And the best news - a very good draw!!!! For Tommy 4th round is a realistic possibility - he can beat Canas and Johansson - we'll just have to see if he produces his proper tennis this time - but this could be a good Wimbledon for Tommy.

I hope he can avoid Canas if possible. He didn't look good against Canas the last few times they met, Canas has won three or four matches in 2004 against him, among them on hardcourt and indoor. Seems like a bad match up for him. But as for the rest, he certainly could do something this time in Wimbledon, at least the start up was promising.

ToJo is also a very good player on grass, a bigger hurdle in a possible third round.

 I was shocked when seeing that we don't have a German vs German lineup in the 1st round :haha:

I think Tommy's draw could have been worse :) So I'm happy for him, go for it!!!

Tommy looked really good on grass in Halle, and his draw, although not easy, looks to be the easiest. Tommy is indeed looking good on his serve and volley. I read an article by a tennis analyst who said that Tommy's game is "very suited to grass." What a coup for Tommy to do well and go all the way at Wimbledon!

Go Hasi Honey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me too. I believe Tommy can go real far this year, judging from the results in Halle. I still believe he was playing as good as Federer on the semis, and that they could have gone to a third set. I think Tommy feels comfortable playing on grass so far. Let's hope he'll keep it like this all the way through!! :D

Good news, Canas has pulled out - so Tommy just needs to beat ToJo and it could be a quarter final!!!! Don't need to get too carried away - but I have some hope!!!

Tommy retired from his match today after losing the first set. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with him (other than Jogy's bad karma ;) )?

Some news say he twisted his ankle badly before the first point was played. That would correspond with the info somebody gave me in the scoring thread that Tommy stepped on a ball while warming-up. And this hurt his ankle.

I hope it's only a sprain and nothing worse so that he can play again in two or three weeks after Wimbledon (otherwise I don't guess he would have continued).

....

edit: "ankle joint injury" should be the correct translation I guess

Actually, 'ankle sprain' or 'ankle injury' is just fine. :D

Well, that is just the worst luck. Hope he recovers from that very quickly, he has points all over the place this summer.

Bad karma is when you express negative opinions or wishes for someone else and it comes back to negative results for you. You were a bit harsh on some of the other players at Wimbledon and now your favorite player is unlucky. Some people would call that bad karma.

Fee I never wanted being harsh to you, I never seen something bad of you or being arrogant. I know sometimes I'm so to other players and I dont care because others (Rogiman, Hitler, Sjengster) are the same to Tommy and don't think before writing posts. Another idiot is sigmagirl who laughed at me because I make no perfect Enlgish. I make no care about this people, but I never would say something bad to you.

No Jogy, not that you were harsh to me at all. You said something about one of the other players who was playing at Wimbledon last week (was it Puerta? I don't remember) and so 'bad karma' is that your favorite player had bad luck. That's what I mean.

Don't worry about the other members here on the Forum. Just stay here in the Tommy Haas forum with us and we can cheer him on together. I would never make fun of your English, it's much better than my French. :D

Oh great! That's one of Tommy's favorite tournaments and last year he reached the quarters, he has many points to defend.
Hope he's foot is well enough by then ;)

that's so bad
he will loose so much points, almost everything from summer, I guessing
can't play until US Open
got huge point from LA: not playing this year
got huge points from hardcourt TMS with quarterfinal: not playing this year
and US Open is his first tournament so very lots of danger of losing early because he has no training and experience on playing after long injury
