I read in the newspaper that its Thursday but that could just be the time difference b/t London and the US. Either way I so hope Fernando has a bit of luck this time with the draw...Isn't about his turn for a little luck?!

Trust me - Alan Mackin will not trouble Feña :) He is a run-of-the-mill Brit qualifier - normally playing in Futures and Challengers, but given a Wild Card at Wimbly just because he's British. Fernando will have the crowd against him, but that shouldn't bother him, and I think he will win easily - no problems.

That's a great draw for him. Joachim Johansson is playing so poorly right now, and Rusedski and Youzhny aren't much better. Plus he's got Davydenko's number (beat him twice at Stoke Park).. I can see the quarter finals as very realistic.

He is doing great at the moment. He won the first two sets 6-4, 6-4 and is a break up in the 3rd :) Just hope he can finish this match off before the rain starts. We've had several big thunder storms today where I live (which is only a few miles from Wimbledon) - luckily they seem to have missed Wimby so far but it looks very dark there on the TV now so I'm sure it will start there soon  No surprising - anything over 30 degrees C is unusual for England, and after a few days of that the storms were sure to follow  So vamos Feña - hurry up and finish him off!

Liverpool, out of nowhere with a small squad, won the Champions League and beat the massive Chelsea and Milan.

Could Fernando be about to become the most unexpected champion? :D

I must admit I didn't expect this when he lost at Queen's to the talentless Ivo Karlovic!

Well done, Fena!!!

Now why do my faves have to be in the same quarter?? Rogi, Juanqui, Fena... this is ridiculous cos I want them ALL to win...

It will be a tougher match for Rogi than today's vs. Juanqui I believe so Rogi better be ready for Fena... FINALLY we'll get to see Fena...

Just click on this link, there's an article in Spanish. The first one is about his last match and the second match is about Fena on grass. If you have the chance to understand spanish, it's interesting.

Here's another one wish a short interview:
http://www.terra.cl/deportes/index.cfm?accion=tenis&id_reg=510069&XjWpZ=PqZ23

Briefly, he said that he's very happy, he has played a great tennis with a lot of confidence, but it was a tough match.

Concerning the pressure, he always has it, we can't put the pressure on oneself if we want to win and continue to advance.

[I hope it sounds clear LOL]

He said that JCF and Roger and good players, he'd prefer to play JCF because it's not his best surface. Comparing to the Swiss, it's his best surface. But he'll have to be fortunate and relax, it will depend more than him than his opponent.

Hope you understood my translation. I don't practrice a lot spanish, so hope it's ok.

I saw some extracts of the match, they showed his good points, so it was great. At the end of the match, he congratulated Roger, he seemed to say that Roger was the best and he was unable to do something.

Then, they showed a short inter of Roger and he said that it was always interesting to play Gonzo, and that he improved his game since last time.

I am sorry that Fena had to run into Rogi but he should be proud that he made the QFs -- first Chilean since Acuna 20 years ago!

Thanks for telling us what Fena said to Rogi. I think there is mutual respect between these two great players! Fena played well, esp in the first and third sets -- he really took it to Rogi w some v impressive plays, not just fr the baseline, but also at the net, volleying and just getting back most of Rogi's balls. I think the crowd was pretty impressed too judging fr their reactions. It was a competitive match, a good match for both. I think that both Juanqui and Fena pushed Rogi and helped him [he'll need these kinds of matches to prepare for Lleyton], so gracias to both guys.

Just a shame they had to play in Rogi's quarter -- the toughest draw. I'm sure both could have gone further but are showing that so-called "claycourters" which I don't believe they are, CAN do well on all surfaces.

I love Fena cos he makes a match interesting and unpredictable -- not boring like so many guys out there [incl. Hewitt and Roddick].

I w like to see some post-match reactions of Fena -- hope he's somewhat satisfied w his tennis at Wimby -- winning Boodles really helped him here!

Well done, Fena! :worship: Keep going in the hardcourt season! I am looking forward to seeing him in Montreal! [I w love to meet him!] ;)

:tears: So sad that Fernando lost but of course he really come out a winner at Wimbledon. I really think we'll see him doing well the rest of the year. And 128 players start at the begining and by the quarters there are of course only 8 left. Not too shabby Fena!!! Very proud of him! :hearts: I'm such a new tennis fan that this is my first Wimbledon and he has made it a fun and exciting one for me. Thanks Fena!

I was at the match yesterday. Fernando played well against the best player in the world and has nothing to be ashamed of. He has won a lot of new fans in England with his game style and attitude. He and his fans should all be proud right now.

What Rogi said about Fena is a big compliment to him:

"It is always interesting to play against him because you have to weather the storm against him. He hits the ball with so much pace. There's not much you can actually control in a match against him because he always takes the first swing but I still enjoy it because you get good rallies.

"I really had to work hard on my defence and do things I don't usually have to do too often. He's different, quite unique. He dominates from the baseline and you are just trying to get his serve back. But even then he covers his serve with incredible forehands and backhands.

Thanks for posting that Rogifan. :wavey: I complained last time when I felt Roger was dissing Fena so I have to give him props now when he was so complementary. Roger is obviously the best player in the ATP and its a great compliment he gave Fena. Perhaps all this playing against Roger though ending in losses has ultimatly helped Fena's game.
