the sun will do her good.. must be annoying though.. no girl likes to be followed around by the camera's when you have a bit of an outbreak (I already freak out if I have one pimple).

doesn't really look like acne though..more like a rash...what do u think pharmacist ulrike!

May the pharmacist's assistant share her humble opinion too? ;)
Looks like a rash indeed
But it really is a lot less, but she was all overheated today so her complete face was on fire...the rash looks worse because of it too.

not yet :o

Anyway you're right (of course ;) ). Since she's had almost perfectly clear skin until know (not counting in the odd pimple) it would be very strange to suddenly have this kind of acne. But still.. it's very weird. I wonder what caused it.

"I wanted to win very badly here. In the quarterfinals I'll meet Kim Clijsters, if she wins Wednesdaynight, that's very special to me. I have never been able to win from her, maybe I can do it this time. I saw her train and I think she's fit", Safina says.

In that case the audience will ofcourse root for Kim. "That's no problem to me. If the crowd is noisy then I'll focus even more on the points. My brother tought me always to be friendly to the crowd, otherwise things will go bad. I also don't think it's unfair. If I ever play against Kim in Moscow, she can expect the same situation", Safina laughs.

"Fed Cup doesn't keep me awake at night. Only a week before the encounter, I'll hear if I'm on the team or not. The whole controversy around Maria Sharapova doesn't bother me. I hope she will play, because after all she is the best Russian player. If Kim and Justine are on the Belgian team, the Russians will have to be at their best".

Yesterday I watched in dutch ("flemish" ) though, because my dad was watching also and he insists on the dutch comments. ;)

I think the commentator on the Dutch (= from the netherlands) channel is often quite blasé.. :o but I like it sometimes because they give more 'technical information'..

If Kim and Justine are on the Belgian team, the Russians will have to be at their best".

awww, she's such a sweetheart. i love that she's so complimetary of the other palyers and so respectful to everyone. she'd make a great friend wouldn't she? loyal and lovely :)

Definitly her best match against Kim so far.
But I didn't think she played very well. I had the idea she only returned the ball, without any plan or idea behind it.
Kim didn't play well either though.
But anyway, much better than her last meet up with Kim when she got bagelled.

Uh-huh! Carl Maes was commentating and was talking about the time when Kim had to play a Davis Cup match against Argentina. She had been sick all night, during practice, before the match in the player's lounge ("there were buckets placed strategically everywhere around the lounge") and even after the second set.
Ew! :p

I almost don't dare to say it...but if Kim was fit it probably would've been a bagel again as Dina played messy.... :tape: Or am I being to critical here?
Nope, you're absolutely right. Kim didn't play well at all.. she was in a hurry to leave the court and rushed it a bit. Dinara did get quite some opportunities but she didn't use them properly.
I did see some nice backhands. And she has a good serve. But she really must improve on her fitness. Am I the only thinking she could lose a few pounds? Not a lot, but she should work on explosiveness.. it becomes painfully clear that she's a few steps short everytime Kim makes her run from one side to the other. :o

Her serve is great. Definitly. Backhands were alright, one very nice lob ;)
She isn't fast enough though. But I'm not sure if she needs to lose weight. Maybe just train on running around could do the trick.

BelgianWaffle
02-17-2006, 09:09 PM
Yep. Marat is a tall guy too, but he's still reasonably fast. If Dinara can't dictate the point from where she's standing she's already half lost it. The moment Kim takes over she just has to steer the ball in any direction she wants and get Oafette on the run.

Yeah. She's running after the balls just to hit them back. She doesn't get to dictate anything. I think I only saw 3 or 4 great shots that she dictated and that succeeded because she played them with intention.

BelgianWaffle
02-17-2006, 09:35 PM
Exactly. Lots of times she has to run down a ball, doesn't quite get there, so she hits it back too short over the net, which gives the opponent the chance to step in and finish it.

Let me argue with you on that. ;)

When i play tennis with my dad and even my brother (brother is 10 times better than me, but doesn't watch/like tennis) i always tell them that their technique, etc, is wrong. looking at the stats, Dinara's serve seemed to have deserted her today :( ... oh well, she played mighty well for the rest of the tournament ... chin up Dina :yeah: you're a star! ... maybe she'll pop up in Marat's box in a little while and give him some support :yeah:

At first I though she had a bad acne, but the pics aren't soo good to see clearly. And I felt my heart aching because I have suffered of acne for many years and I know what it is.The I read here that it's an allergic reaction, and I was "fiuuuu, thank God"!!Hope she gets better soon, but sunblock is a must,as her skin seems to be so delicate!

Meeek

Her skin is much much better than a few weeks ago. It's still red, but surely her skin is more sensitive to the sun now.
Her forehead is pretty much cleared of the rash. On the cheeks still some left, but the biggest thing now is the remaining redness. It seems to be slowly but surely fading away.

It's really weird. She's had it (at least!) since the AO. It should be cleared up by now. Any corticosteroid ointment would help her really fast if it's a rash or an allergic reaction. There are a lot of pills too for allergic reactions that help quite quick (within 3 or 4 days).
I'm a bit  on this one. It shouldn't last this long.

Yep, I heard that and it's rather unbelievable that this rash is still here from applying it one time.

Maybe it clashes with the anti doping rules?
Almost impossible. Cortisone in a topical preparation would never penetrate through the skin all the way to the blood in large concentration. And even then I don't think it's against the rules. I'm sure other athletes are even injected with cortisone against inflammation etc. Even when Marat says it's "past century" ;) it was done before.

Anyway, there are still other ointments etc available that don't contain corticosteroids. Plus pills like Zyrtec etc help also with allergic reactions to food or cremes (many people take them for hay fever) and I'm sure that's not forbidden.

it's just bad :p and cortisone is already past century. Is not good any more. The cortisone, really it's not good for the body. I don't even suggest you guys to take it. It's destroying the tissues. Just a good suggestion, don't take it. ;)

well my dear gaby ;) it isn't so bad if it's applied as a cream. of course, if you injected it, or you applied an inch thick layer of cream on your skin, i can't guarantee it wouldn't destroy your body lol. really odd what's happening with dina's skin. like ulrike said...there are ways to bring down the flare.

Not completely true. If she has doctors baffled over this... I've been having weird skin things myself. Got 748362 different cremes from the dermatologist and nothing worked, or got me burnwounds. Dermatologist's have such a nice profession. "It's eczema, try this creme". Everything undefineable is baptized eczema.
They never found out what it is that causes my weird skin problems (luckily not on my face) and I still get it every now and then. 6 years after the first visit to the dermatologist.
So yeah, there's not a simple solution for everything.

I've had eczema for quite a lot of years and the only thing that works for me is a new product called Elidel (the cream) or Protopic (the ointment). It's not cortisone and it works in a different way (it modulates the immune system by expressing certain genes or sth). The important thing is that it works (altough it's expensive as hell and social security won't cover it :ras: ).
I wouldn't know what to do if those products didn't exist. I tried cortisone but as soon as I would stop applying it the eczema comes back. Plus if you keep using you get skin atrophy.
I've been tested for allergies but they just don't know what's causing it. :ras:
