dont you think that giving him the same nickname as a RUSSIAN tennis player is a bit too much? :tape:

btw yesterday my sister was reading tennis mag, she saw a pic of PHM and said "why does that guy have 3 first names? didnt his parents think 2 were enough?"

 could be too much yes, but that's more because from the beginning (before that damn Youzhny trauma :p) we both thought he had a lot in common with Marat on court... which can be good, but also very bad :o

Steph, even mentioning PHM is too painful most of the time.  Our baby oaf. Sigh. He's our French oaf.
But here's the news from Russia - Dinara said her coach Alexander Zlatoustov (sorry I didn't rememeber the guy's name before) to whom she returned after the stint with this Swedish dude cannot travel with her bc of his family and she was almost in tears asking him through media not to leave her.
She said mom and bro praised her and said she played well so she said losing her coach is the worst loss.
Here the videos from the Russian sports TV news for those who like them. :)

after yesterdays match...from Annie TGFR.com

He was really sweet...he looked really concentrated and worried...camera kept going back on him quite a few times and there was one comment, which one of the commentators passed and I just loved it :D They were talking about how hard it is mentally for both Maria and Dinara and they were psychologically on the edge and one of them goes "I think it's more difficult for Maria though, she has to play against two Safins" :D I thought that was a great comment!!!!!!!!

Then after the match they took interviews with Dinara and Marat and Dina was asked whether Marat's presence helped her and she was soooooooo sweet and "sistery", she said it helped a great deal that he was there and he had been a tremendous help to her during this tournament....she was very emotional when talking about him :)

Then Marat was asked whether they were gonna celebrate and all and he said it was too early, the tournament is not over yet but the whole family is really proud of Dina, she played a fantastic match and after the tournament is over no matter the outcome, they will have a big celebration :D :D :D

That nike sweater makes Masha look like a pregant girl...

Dina's win against Masha was great! Only managed to see the last three games, but was a bit emotional. All Marat could do was clap. He didn't even smile and looked like some junkie...I wonder if someone already noticed I'm in Marat-hate mode for some reason? ;)

Mary's experience and game were too much for Dina, but am very proud of her. She's really enjoying it all and that's very nice to see. That shy smile of hers :)

Nadia opted to play in Bangkok and was so close to winning her first title

BTW Dinara will likely make it to the YEC in doubles!

from Dianara's intervew in mk.ru
As usual I don't dare translate it... My english :o

And the resemblance to Marat is incredible, they are so alike, they walk the same, and they talk to theirselves the same way, and Dinara sometimes has that smile "in the corner of the mouth"(I don't know how else to say it) that is just irresistable at Marat :worship:

So true. Prime example: sharapova. I never thought she actually looked extraordinary, seeing her without make-up on the court etc (altough I'd kill to have legs like those ;) ) but with make-up she can look amazing (take a look at her site, if you dare :p ). Or maybe it's photoshop. You never know these days. No wonder women get complexes.

The 4th pic is a really bad one imo. Other pics are ok(especially the first one :worship: ), but I wouldn't have recognised her in the 2nd pic.
I think she will get more beautiful as the years go by and she loses some of her "child"looks. :D

I also think Anna is a natural beauty.

And I would feel really offended, if I were her, of being compared to Sharapova  I mean, Maria isn't half as beautiful as Ana(I've seen her with and without make-up :p ), it's just wrong to try to compare them, they are totally different...Ana is amazingly beautiful and Maria plays way better tennis than Ana ever did!!!
I love how Dinara looks in those pictures, except for the last one, the pic before the one where she's with Marat, she's really pretty and I believe she's going to be one of the best tennis players in the world because, from what I've seen, she's very ambitious and she doesn't look like the type that would want to live in her brother's large shaddow!!!

Éowyn

have to defend annas tennis coz she was a very talented player and fact is maria and all the russian players including dinara owe her a hell of a lot for knocking that door down! and i loved that when myskina was interviewed she said the same thing! although part of me wishes she just left the door ajar so dinara etc could sneak through rather than destorying the door entirely for the invasion to come through :p

but she is a very beautiful woman and i don't feel maria even comes close on that. and maria wil lnever match anna as a doubles player :p she has her beat on that at least! i miss anna i wish she'd come back and kick marias butt just once to piss her off

New coach for Dinara: Glen Schaap, former coach of Petrova:

"No.3-seeded Russian Dinara Safina cruised through with a 45-minute, 60 61 win over Iveta Benesova in the featured night match.
"I was very happy with my performance tonight," said the 19-year-old Safina, who is currently enjoying a career-high No.20 ranking. "Iveta can be a dangerous player; she hits the ball very well, but I was playing very well tonight."

Last year, Safina proved her up-and-coming status, winning her first Tier II title at Paris [Indoors] by upsetting former world No.1 Amelie Mauresmo in the final. She also reached her first Tier I semifinal at Moscow in the fall, when she overcame a 61 42 deficit en route to 16 64 75 upset victory over world No.1 Sharapova in the quarters, her first career win over a reigning No.1.

But the teenaged Russian has her goals set even higher and hopes to make even more waves in 2006.

"I started working with a new coach (Glen Schaap) two weeks ago, and we’ve started working on a number of things, and I’m glad that these past two matches have gone well," Safina said. "At the start of the year it’s interesting to see how well you play in the first few matches. So far it’s been going well."

I've got some mysterious eczema thing. Luckily I have excellent cream for it so it's not really noticeable but as soon as I stop it the eczema comes back. It's really annoying, especially since I've been tested on allergies and whatnot and they can't find the cause. I'll just have to hope they don't stop producing the cream for the next 60 years. It's expensive as hell though.

If I could change one thing about myself I would pick a good skin. :p

It's an allergic reaction to the heat and sun, it's already calmed down compared to 1,5 week ago.

Almost showtime for Dina! Court 19...so we won't see a thing. Hopefully a short recap of he match somewhere...

Yeah...but it's less already...less red, seems to dry out quite a bit now. I'm sure it won't take long 'til she's got a flawless skin again.

the sun will do her good.. must be annoying though.. no girl likes to be followed around by the camera's when you have a bit of an outbreak (I already freak out if I have one pimple).

I haven't seen or heard anything about Dinara on my TV coverage ... but admittedly I haven't been watching much, as it's not as appealing as previous years ... Best of Luck Dinara :yeah:

She must've been injured. How the hell could she lose to Arvidsson, being fit as she was... :o :o :o

I wonder what she was treated for. Her face looked really really red at the pic. Maybe heat exhaustion or some bug.

I read anastasia also needed treatment for the heat.

When you really think about it it's very unhealthy, playing tennis in these conditions..

Yeah, however fit you are over +30C it's too much.

Just like under -30C here. What a contrast. :(

BelgianWaffle

Exactly.. even when you drink enough to avoid dehydration, it must be a big strain for the heart..

Meeek
01-19-2006, 08:38 AM
And for the head... I mean, when it's 30C over here during summer, when I am too active my head explodes....
