http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2006/06/21/magazine/25style.slide2.jpgDinara Safina. Hometowns: Moscow, Monte Carlo. Age: 20. Current rank: 17. Playing style: ‘‘I’m not one to put on layers of makeup before I go out on court. Of course, I don’t want to look bad, but the first thing I’m thinking about on court is tennis.’’ Killer shot: ‘‘I have an all-around game. My best shot is the backhand down the line or when I have an opportunity to hit a smash out of the court. I love this shot.’’ What has been your greatest on-court moment? ‘‘Last year when I won my first big tournament. I beat Amélie Mauresmo in the final at the Gaz de France in Paris, and of course, the Fed Cup, when Elena Dementieva and I won the doubles. Unfortunately, we didn’t really have a chance to celebrate because we all had to leave the next morning.’’ Azzedine Alaïa minidress.

What it means "minger"??

EDIT: I red an urban dictionary on the net and I don't like the definition :( how they can call her "ugly" :( :o

She's is nice and sweet, not a miss universe but far away of that term "minger" :(

EDIT 2: and the brit meaning is even worse!!!!!
from http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=minger
Not simply someone who is just coyote ugly, the phrase usually implies she is ugly, unkempt, over-weight and has hygiene problems such as a fishy **** or skid marks on her underwear and her arse really stinks if you go to mount her doggy-style. She is also sexually promiscuous - a person who spreads sexually transmitted diseases. Her victims are always extremely horrified when they wake up the next morning. A somewhat crude term, the phrase is only usually used by people who are common, of low intellect or mingers themselves.Word comes from northern England and from Scotland.

"Dave woke up hungover.Two-thirds of the bed contained a sweaty mound of stinky minger with unshaven armpits and huge bush. His genitals itched terribly."

STUPID BRITISH PRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

EDIT 3: Ok, I red the article, the british ones have the taste on the feet, definitely. HOW GISELA DULKO IS ON THE MINGERS LIST TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!! :smash:

They also put Dementieva and Kuznetsova on the list

Who was on the "Winners" list? Sharapova of course
I think they just judging for the photos without seeing them in person :o
How could Elena and Gisela on that list... they are on a lot of lists of the beautest and sexiest sportswomen of the world.

And on the winners is Venus  c'monnnnnnnnnn :o and others like Michaella Krajicek (I like Micha as a player, but I think she's far away to consider her a beauty, and also it's too young for me.)

Didn't know the word either, what a terrible word

A somewhat crude term, the phrase is only usually used by people who are common, of low intellect or mingers themselves.

Don't know the paper either but the above might be an appropriate description.

And clearly a case of very bad bad taste.
Dinara is beautiful, not in the [boring]covergirl kinda way, but much better. She's much more interesting.

OMG It's true :awww: :banghead:

Here is a quote from Tarpischev's interview... he says that both Dinara and Maria Kirilenko will miss Fed Cup because of injuries. Dinara has some problems with her back  hope there's nothing serious

Interesting enough, lobotomy used to be a well-known and accepted medical procedure for psychiatric patients until the 1950's.
Not so long ago I saw a documentary about curing psychiatric diseases and it had a real video of a lobotomy in it.

The weird construction of these articles keeps surprising me. First they talk about the car accident and how worried she was, then out of the blue this sentence: "Most Russian surnames have different forms depending on gender - for example, the wife of Boris Yeltsin is Naina Yeltsina" ( ) and then they go on about Ivanovic and then about Dinara and Marat again.

Where's the coherence? ;)

singles final and doubles final yes, but here we're talking about 4 matches. Withdrawing from the last 2 would be smart if she doesn't want to get too tired and thus take the risk of getting injured.

carroll
08-20-2006, 08:52 AM

She can't lose both, if she loses vs Ana there's no Hingis match, so she can only lose one of them ;)
If she loses vs Ana, espcially if it's in 2 sets, she can play the doubles for sure. I wasn't saying she shall start the day by saying she withdraws from the doubles. But if she makes it to the singles final then it would be careful to say "sorry, my day ends here".
