tennis-x.com had this under their "who's in the trunk" category:

2. Roger Federer: 3-1 in slams last year, 0-2 this year and testy with Nadal on his tail.

and had "Rafael 'the Prodigy' Nadal" under the "Who's got funk" category. this makes me fuming mad. they belittle EVERYTHING by that loss. its funny how one-dimensionally most people are looking at this, people who have no appreciation for the true sport of tennis and are only occasional, uninformed fans. wat a pity it we must put up with them.

>=(!!!!!!!!!! i mean JUST BECUZ NADAL WON A GS!! and he still has a LOT to prove to be consider the new # 1 or something like that....
and if it were nadal who got into 2 GS semifinal or anybody else, say hewitt or andy, they would be the player to watch!!! but since its roger its like.. oh.. he underachieved! he is past his glory...

it is news.. and theyall go with the hype! even thought roger has the highest winning percentage and is still veeerryyy far from nadal in the entry ranking.. just becuz he lacks a slam in this year! psst!

its not like i dislike nadal... but what i dislike IS THE PRESS AND EVERYONE SURROUNDING HIM! nadal in itself is a very likeable person... but it seems like their fans and the world is the one i dislike... those over-hyped blind watchers! (not a fan.. i expect a fan to know better... that roger is still the best)

My thoughts, exactly! The 2nd half of this season is definitely Rogers - starting with Halle and ending with Masters. Go Roger make them shut up.

The Wimbledon title is really all that counts - every other title is just an add bonus!

What a stupid #$%^&!!!! What is their IQ?
It's not 3-1 vs. 2-0, but 1-1 vs. 0-2! (not even 2-0 vs.0-2)
Sigh, it's really suspicious if they are properly educated :o .

Rogersgirl, writers of tennis-X are already infamous of stupid, deviated and sacarstic articles. So, ignoring is the best remedy. Don't be hurt by that kind of a crap .

That IS a typical behavior of mass media. They are like a school of sharks, craving for tearing a prey into 'pieces' anytime when it looks vulnerable. And at the moment they just need a new and fresh prey since Roger won almost every GS and tournaments he involved last year. If Nadal won't get good results on hard courts during latter half of this year, I bet they'll do the exactly same thing to him. And mind his age. He is now young and fresh, which is what they are impressed the most and get crazy about him, IMO.

Like lina said, Nadal has a looooooot of things to prove himself as a player. Yet he is way far from reaching Roger's status in many respects, e.g. level of play, achievements, entry ranking points(6980 vs 3600? ha! come on! :o ). He is already a great player on clay but I don't think he is yet on other surfaces.

In order to comfort our beloved, yet fragile ;) Roger fans, here I compare and summerze his performances of 2004 & 2005

[2004] / [2005]
Doha: - / W
AO: W / SF
Rotterdam: Q / W
Dubai: W / W
IW AMS: W / W
Miami AMS: 3rd / W
Monte Carlo AMS: - / QF
Rome AMS: 2nd / -
Hamburg AMS: W / W
RG: 3rd / SF
Total W of tour: 4 (1 GS, 2AMS) / 6 (0 GS, 3AMS)
Win/loss(includ. DC matches) 31/4 (35/4) / 46/3
W/L % 88.6% (89.7) / 93.9%

As you can see, Roger's been doing better than he did last year, by far. And even the number of GS wins, which everybody counts, are just ONE-SHORT!!!!

It's true that this year he've been challenged, which however has been already predicted and is somewhat inevitable and necessary. Besides, I believe it's more important that he haven't lost to any players who he is supposed to win against.

I think the upcoming Wimbledon is really really important for Roger. If that RG match significantly affected his confidence(I don't think it did), it'd be not good. But once he defends the Wimbledon(and Canada Masters), there'll be no problem for the rest of this year. This is truly the moment of truth for him, I think.

GO, Roger!!!! :rocker2: :rocker2: :rocker2:

don't bother reading such articles if they upset you... I ignore them... enough fairer or optimistic articles out there anyway.

agree w what you said above, babsi! Rogi has to concentrate on winning or doing well in the big tourneys!
