The "WC" for Novak must be a fault on their website.

Great draw for Kiefer - the final is absolutely possible for him! :)

JCF got a qualifier :haha:

It is unbelievable the amount of times David and Rainer seem to draw each other - it won't be easy for David with the crowd against him and Rainer more motivated because he is playing in front of his own people. But Good Luck David :)

I can't believe it as well Rosie. But perhaps we should have seen this coming, after all when Rainer and Nalbo are always destined to meet when they are in the same tourney.
Nalbo won the last few times they met, and I hope the winning feeling continues.
Vamos Nalbo. :)

LOL, what a funny draw!

Mayer vs Youzhny: we had this one already last year at Halle, first round! Youzhny won a third set tiebreak.

not easy for Federer, coming from clay and then facing immediately Söderling who could be strong.

Nadal vs Waske.... :( OMG :o

JCF got a qualifier :haha:
LOL, we two know exactly what qualifier he should draw, don't we?

on the other hand, Kiefer could get him as well :o

Why is everyone so sure Nadal will pull out? He is young, fit and strong. and as far as anyone knows he isn't carrying an injury. He has already said that Wimbledon is important to him and he wants to be successful in the grass court season, - so I think he'll at least give it a go.

He told Bud Collins in his on-court interview that he is flying to Germany Monday morning so he can "improve on grass."

With all the rain delays they seem to be having there, I guess he could easily have a Wednesday start which would help a lot.

http://www.rolandgarros.com/en_FR/news/interviews/2005-06-05/200506051117997250548.htmlQ. Now everybody will have very big expectation for the next tournament. You are still preparing for Wimbledon going to Halle?

RAFAEL NADAL: So now I am very happy for won this tournament, and tomorrow I have flight at I don't know what hour for go to Halle. Is the first tournament in grass. And I will try improve my tennis in grass for prepare Wimbledon, no?
. . .

Q. You will get a great welcome when you come to Wimbledon. Do you believe the way you're playing at the moment, you could challenge for the title at Wimbledon?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, I think in grass I can't ‑‑ (In Spanish.) I can't challenge for the title.

(In English.) I want to improve, no? For that, I go to play in Halle this week, and I like a lot play in grass. I know is not my best surface, is a little bit fast. I need to improve some things in my game for play better in grass and in the fast courts. And I want to improve the serve and the volley, and for that I going to play in grass one or two tournaments before. And doubles, too.

It's usual practice that players who played on Sunday play their 1st round match on Wednesday... he might play doubles on Tuesday...

Nadal knows what he's doing and I hope he knows his body as well... he need to practice on grass as much as possible to be competitive at Wimbledon...

Schüttler - Nalbandian in the 1st round, so Shaker will fail early once again :(

Federer is the top favourite, no question, if he's fit, he will win the tournament without losing a set.

I'm sure Safin will play a lot better than many might think.

And the bad draws keep coming for Youzhny. Federer in the second round?! Another early exit. He just barely missed out on that #8 seed, which would have been much better for him.

Ferrero playing a grass tune-up again, yay. :D Rematch against Nadal on grass? Well, we'll see about qualifer first. :o

Popp vs. Safin = upset.

Don't be so sure Deck - David can be a bit of a Shaker himself these days  Losing in 5 sets at RG to Hanescu doesn't exactly fill me with confidence

I really hate this draw... :fiery:
Look at who the matched up together...

YOUZHNY, Mikhail (RUS) v MAYER, Florian (GER)
NADAL, Rafael (ESP/3) v WASKE, Alexander (GER/WC)
NALBANDIAN, David (ARG/5) v SCHÜTTLER, Rainer (GER)

It's not fair! :hysteric:

I hope you're right Rosie

but Schuettler lost last five matches against David, two of them in Germany, which also shows that his chances will be quite low against this former Wimbledon runner-up, although they never met on grass before

we'll see, I'd be happy to be wrong in this case :)

Well I hope I'm wrong because I want David to win! I can't get to Halle til Wednesday at the earliest because of work commitments and I would hate to miss him  I've been at the last two matches between David and Rainer (Marseille and Basel) and they were actually very close matches - both as shaky as each other

Petzschner won't get the withdrawals he needs. :( Now he became the victim of this bad decision. Of course, in previous year they gave WCs to a no.1000 and to a restaurant owner and this year Kühnen said a week before that he will watch the players in practise before he decides about the WCs, which sounds ridiculous now.
Popp's WC was clear for months and Ferrero... It had nothing to do with how they played in training.
And that Petzschner qualified twice in Rosmalen and defeated Popp wasn't good enough obviously.
