I like writing in a big green font.
It's like we're simulating grass on the internet.

Go Swedes and Alexander Popp! (it's not totally crucial that my others do well on grass :D)

I've always been a nature lover...I am not keen on tennis game on grass but I'm ready to make some efforts to watch some players on that surface. Lucky you Thomas! You're one of those very few ones! :D

Francine

Thomas is the only player that makes the grass season interesting for me, so he'd better do well.

Nottingham is the only grass tournament that isn't broadcasted here. And Roland Garros is the only clay tournament that IS broadcasted here. Oh the irony of being a Dutch fan of clay court tennis and Thomas Johansson

Well no matter if Thomas wins this match or not, it had plenty of drama in it. Murray twisted his ankle when Thomas served at 4*-5 and 0-30 and now he's receiving treatment for cramp at 5-5 0-30.

:D ok..well..we got there and peaked our head around the fence to see who was practicing, on the near court it was greg then suddenley who did i see...Mr Johansson! So we walked around the try and get closer to thomas..he was still a court away but it was closer than tuesday. Watched him practice for about 15 minutes taking pictures. Then greg came out so i got his autograph and then thomas proceeded shortly. I was the only one there who wanted his autograph so i took this oppotunity to talk to him about his birthday card...

I said 'Hi thomas can u sign this for me please' (a photo kristen sent me ;)) and he said 'sure' and while he was doing that i said 'do you remember me from tuesday, i was the girl that spoke to you' and he said 'ah yes i do' so i said 'did you get a birthday card from the atp that your fans sent, we sent you a card with messages in' he paused and thought about it and said 'erm no i didn't....maybe its still in the post' and i said 'oh right...its my birthday today' and he said 'oh :) happy birthday :)' and i said 'thank you, good luck today even though your playng murray i want you to win' he then laughed (looked like this -> ) and said 'thank you' and walked off...un pestered  i was shocked at that...i wanted to follow him but i thought noooo siobhan :haha:

Interestingly, they have only met once and that was at Surbiton last year which Thomas won! :D

This was the score:

i have a story about that...i would say a funny story but its really not :sobbing:

Ok...so i was at queens on tuesday, i had no idea that Simon was playing doubles there and as i hadn't seen him in person before i basically didn't know who he was! So i was watching Thomas and Roddick warming up and behind me were these 2 guys warming up. One looked very cute but i had absoluetly no idea who they were :o So anyway i went back to looking at thomas for a while then i turned back and this guy from the other cout was sitting down and looked at me (i must have been about half a metre from him at this moment) and my immediate reaction was WOW hes nice! Anyway then went off to catch tojo and went back to the practice courts about 2 hours later. This guy was still out there practicing and i was like wow he really is cute!

Then when i got home i found out that Simon/Todd were playing on wednesday which i was bummed at because i wanted to see them play.

Forgot all about Simon on thursday with it being my birthday and everything, so while my friend and i were in a queue i suddenely saw that same CUTE guy from tuesday walk past (i saw him from side on this time ;)) and i suddenly said ' Thats SIMON ASPELIN!!!' and my friend proceeded to say 'who' so i explained...and that was the last i saw of him...so no piccies :sobbing: (he was the cute guy practicing behind me...DAMN  )

Murray has withdrawn from Nottingham as not to increase Wimbledon risk!

So Thomas will play someone else! I can not find who he will play though

ToJo (Following Murray's withdrawal)
"Yes, I am disappointed to not be playing Andrew Murray – I look forward to playing him a gain – next time my strategy will be a little bit different. I played Tursunov last year – he's a solid baseliner – plays a little like Murray though Andrew (Murray) has a bigger serve – every match is a tough match – he's a good player.
Nottingham is very good preparation for Wimbledon. I know some guys like to have a week off before it but I like to play a lot of matches and hopefully I can play well here."
"I like the courts; I think you have (at Nottingham) one of the best courts in the whole world."

Referring to the draw sheet, the next opponent is Tomas Berdych, whom can be dangerous at times

Francine
06-14-2005, 05:06 PM
He should beat Berdych. Just as he should learn how to serve out a set, he can get so tight sometimes, jeez. He must hold the record for getting broken back when serving for set. But I won't complain anymore now that he won ;)

Him not looking injured is not a problem, it woud've been a problem if he did look injured. I read in the scores thread that the ump overruled to give Dent the break, that's f*cked up.

Aleksa's Laydee

Ok so..thomas hit a perfectly good forheand onto the baseline and the ump overruled and called it out (the same ump that got booed in the FO)

Thomas went up to the chair and said 'You've got to be kidding me' (whilst leaning on the net) it was on bp down too so he went down 1-3* Proceeded to launch a ball into the air/crowd

Then the NEXT point, the ball was hit clearly wide by Taylor and the umpire said 15-0...event dent was smiling because he knew it was out but was called in. This made Thomas even madder and he went up to the net and said 'I want you to go in there and another umpire to come out'

Our commentators couldnt believe the disgraceful umpiring! at the end of Dents service game from a return of serve Thomas just whacked it into the crowd out of frustration

 i felt so bad for the poor guy

JOHANSSON PULLS OUT IN NOTTINGHAM
Thursday 16th June 2005

Second seed Thomas Johansson pulled out of the Nottingham Open through injury in his quarter-final clash with American Taylor Dent.
The Swede was the victim of two close line calls in the first set, which he lost 6-3, before withdrawing after being broken in the opening game of the second.

Dent said: "I'm good friends with Thomas but it's an unspoken rule that you don't expect guys to change the calls.

"I've played Thomas many times and had many bad calls go against me, so if he was expecting it, his expectations were misplaced."

So bad to hear about Thomas injury

He said aksi in a Swedish newspaper that he pulled his thigh, but he said he doesn´t want to take any risk concerning Wimbledon and therefore he retired.
So it does not sound that bad, and I can completely understand that he took this decision !

Hilarious! (In an unfunny way)
In GM they said that one of the balls he hit, hit a person in the crowd!? LOL I'm finding all of this a tad funny because...it's Thomas. You're lucky to hear a word from him in his matches ordinarily. And now he's so vocal against this umpire! Would have been interesting (and painful!) to watch!!

Francine
06-17-2005, 12:21 PM
I find an angry Thomas quite sexay  He can get pretty upset over linecalls, during his match with Joachim in Rotterdam he had quite an argument with the umpire as well. He just doesn't pull a "Magnus Norman" very often, until yesterday that is.

Good one Denthead. :ras: (But, I still like him for what he did to Lleyton in Adelaide! )

Gallic guile earns birthday bash
By David McVay

WHEN asked on Thursday why he had not spoken up to help Thomas Johansson after two incorrect line-calls had gone in his favour, Taylor Dent talked of the “unspoken rule” in the sport that deters honesty. During the curtailed quarter- final of the 10tele.com Open at the Nottingham Tennis Centre, Dent admitted that he knew Johansson, who eventually retired with a groin strain, had been the victim of bad umpiring decisions but still remained silent.
So Dent must have been somewhat surprised yesterday when Richard Gasquet, his semi-final opponent, conceded a point to the United States player despite a call in favour of the French teenager by the officials. It was a sporting gesture by the youngster, but it made little impact on Dent’s cause as Gasquet triumphed 6-4, 6-2 in 70 minutes.

“I feel really good on grass but I was most pleased with my return of serve, both forehand and backhand. That was the key,” Gasquet said. He contests the final today against Max Mirnyi on what will be his 19th birthday. “I feel as if I am getting better each day and felt I played a solid game against someone who is a good player on grass,” he added.

Gasquet broke Dent in the first game and never looked back while the American, warned for foul language in the first set, could not recover his composure in the face of some delightful Gallic guile. He will require all of that to contain Mirnyi on Centre Court this afternoon. Having tamed the threat of the 6ft 10in Ivo Karlovic in the previous round, Olivier Rochus found the 6ft 5in Belarussian, nicknamed “The Beast”, a lighthouse too far as the Belgian lost 6-4, 7-5.
