I can't believe he did that!!!!! I am soooooo proud of Andy--so proud! I can't even believe it! What a win! What history! What heart! What desire! What a man!!!

It was a really good match, they both played great and both of them deserved to win.

The match was awesome! It just showed how much Andy is sexy( ) and a fighter! :bounce:

YES i am sooooo proud of him!! i mean andy is a great player but under those circumstances i'm very impressed that he held on and won it! definitely the best match i've ever seen, there would be no shame at all in losing that match. *applause* oh they broke the record too right?? did they? i though i heard it used to be 16-14.

Andy is definitly part of tennis history now!
I hope that not only is he the "man who won the longest match in AO history" but also, the "man who came back from the longest match in AO history and took the grand slam title"!

Go Andy! :bounce:

(16-14 was quartefinal match between my fave Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario vs. Chanda Rubin. Lasted 3 hours+. Score was:
Chanda Rubin def. Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario 6-4 2-6 16-14

Chanda then played the longest match(i think it was at least) in Wimbledon with a girl that I don't know.Final score was 7-6 6-7 17-15)

Aerien, what a sweet moment that will be.

rodsgal, so glad to see there's a thread here again. Peace in the world!!

I wish him best luck, but he doesn't need to prove himself again. He won a match that is worth the champion trophy. We know he has a lion heart. I won't ask for more from him, I'll just enjoy watching because I'm so proud of him.

01-24-2003, 07:07 AM
yeah, agree with you, chrisie, heh, i came here to start a thread because i was just so excited that i can't just ignore this site coz of all the roddick haters here. i gotta say, i didn't come to this site for a few months because I'm so tired of all the haters here and it just brings me extra anger....but i was really interested in seeing what they have to say about andy after that great match...sadly....they're all quite gone cases...blinded by hatred for no reason, it's not like they know Andy in person, what's there to hate?? gosh,....oh well. hehe, andy's match against Rainer is starting soon, so go Andy!!!

01-24-2003, 11:37 AM
Hahaha, I wanted to hear what they would say, too. Even after that match against Mikhail, the posts were amusing and entertaining. It got even better after that great match. We finally can enjoy ourselves for a time.

But saddly, Andy lost that semifinal. Now the haters will say he's faking injury again. This makes me furious.

01-24-2003, 09:56 PM
yes precisely...i seriously don't think andy's faking it...coz like my brother say, when Andy doesn't yell at himself or anyone else, you know something is definitely wrong....and the physio Bill Norris actually explained the injury during the post match interview, so it's definitely real. oh well.

Andy has already played in the greatest match of his life, the heart and strength he showed, not just to last but to consistently serve second in the fifth set was amazing.

He can only go on from here - but already he is won of the greatest players of his generation and all because of one match.

Andy truely lives up to the motto - never say die

well said, russian love :D i love andy's perseverance

"Put Roddick on a tennis court and he transforms himself from easygoing Andy into hyper-competitive A-Rod who plays every point as if it's Armageddon." -------'Boy Meets World'

That's from 'Tennis' September issue of 2002. Very good article. I think we like him because he is a real fighter. Look at that second round match against Chang at RG, the one with Hewitt at US Open. Win or lose, he was fighting.

01-31-2003, 09:04 PM
yeah we can't deny that...if only those idiots that accuse him of faking injury see it the way we do...sigh

02-14-2003, 05:49 AM
yes,the match gave some impressions, though i had never put notice on Aynaoui' s play...Just a hero!!!!Both of them were on the top!!! I wish i could see Rddick playing vs their play is somewhat alike...

02-14-2003, 06:20 AM
yeah...heh, but i think when agassi is on top of his game, he can beat anyone on tour....
