WHAT a first qualifying session today!

Ralf Schumacher with a belter of a crash, ripping out the entire right flank of his Toyota and bouncing across the road.

Alonso produced a fantastic lap after that, showing no fear of losing grip where the accident happened, due to the sand etc. on the track.

However, Raikonnen spoiled Renault's party with a stunning lap, one of the best of the year, as he took provisional pole by almost half a second

Raikonnen looks good to win as things stand, because Monaco is certainly not a track designed for overtaking.

I may back Raikonnen small now, and then wait and see how second qualifying goes.

looks like alonso was the quickest in second qualifying but not enought to reel in kimi - so the flying finn is on pole

i'd back kimi but am a little hesitant given it seems he is on soft compund tyres therefore there is a big question mark on its reliability with all that wear and tear.

might make a small play on alonso to win.
