The official SYNNY thread!

Yasmine
05-16-2005, 09:34 PM
Right since our magasine has had so much success on his reviews and tip about Roger's feet lately  I thought it deserved a thread on its own.

SYNNY stands for the initials of all the very talented and full of imagination writers: Ste, Nienke (RogiNie), Yvo (Chuidifan), Yasmine (Dancing_queen) and Nancy (Sierra91)!
So any suggestions to stimulate our imaginations and give ideas to write more, are wellcome here. And to make things easier to read all articles will be posted here so we can read them all and remind ourselves the brilliance of the talents on this forum ...

Alright here is the last article, posted may 9th 2005

Back to serious business guys, the new edition of SYNNY mag has been published :p For the first time the whole SYNNY team has worked on this for your entertainment! so enjoy...

SYNNY mag, Roger Federer’s best tips to play well and be at the top!
Synny tips section by a professional sportsman... this week, of course we couldn't leave it: Roger Federer. We hoped to get another good advice about feet treatment before and after a match, but that disappointed us a bit. Though the result was some other, surprising tips how to world number one prepares a match. And handles after a match.

10 things to do before a match
• Warm up for half an hour
• Read at least 20 letters from fans to remember how much support I have throughout the world
• Have a chat with my rackets, sing them a song, to make sure they behave during the match
• Get the hair ready and tied up to make sure it’s not gonna be annoying
• Prepare a box of tissues if it’s a final: tears whether it’s an emotional win or a sad loss
• Eat a bowl of porridge, to stay/become strong and healthy
• Drink a few cups of coffee, to stay awake, even if it’s a boring match
• Have a phone call with Roche, to get some more information about the opponent and his game.
• Prepare enough bottles of water for the match
• Get a Good luck Kiss from Mirka (last great stimulant!)

10 things to do after a match
If there is a win
• Use a deodorant on the feet to make sure the Warrior doesn’t suffocate when receiving the socks
• Sign autographs
• Give a kiss to Mirka
• Take a shower
• Get a 30 minutes foot massage with citrus essential oils to keep the stimulation up
• Smoke a Davidoff cigar
• Get dressed (hihi let your imagination flow, roger having a cigar naked:p): red shirt, white trousers, swiss colours.
• Get the make up ready for the press conference
• Press conference: be sport and give credit to the opponent
• Drink a glass of champagne, to celebrate the win

If there is a loss
• Sign autographs
• Read the fans letters again to think about the support and to get ready for the next match!
• Take a shower
• Get a 1h30 foot massage with lavender essential oils to relax the tension
• Get dressed: very simple jeans and t-shirt
• Press conference: be sport and give credit to the opponent and stay calm to avoid telling the journalists they’re idiots :tape:
• Get a big hug from Mirka
• Get a back and neck massage, lasting 1h30 to try to forget about the loss
• Tell my rackets that it’s not their fault and that they’ve done a great job, that it’s the line judge fault instead (only j/k Roger would never do such thing, but the rackets need an excuse)
• Drink the whole bottle of champagne, to forget the loss

And finally: a new interview by SYNNY (well, especially me and Yasmine):
enjoy it! :D oh.. and nothing nasty is meant towards Hrbaty, or any other person in this interview, it's just for a laugh ;)

In SYNNY mag edition of this week, as world number one Roger Federer has done in previous cases, he is once more happy to give advice to all our readers on footwear, meaning shoes and socks, and the best tips to choose them appropriately. So reporters have been lucky enough to go and visit Roger and fellow top tennis players in a locker room of the Roland Garros. Today most of the players are playing exhibition matches for charity with current and retired players such as Steffi Graf or Guy Forget, a good way to practice on the RG courts before the second GS of the year that kicks off on Monday.

Journalist: “Hello Roger! are you enjoying playing today with all these players, for charity and meeting retired players too?
Roger: “oh well, yes it is fun but I can’t wait for the tournament to start tomorrow...
Journalist: “But you are all playing for charity as well, and it’s a good opportunity to practice on centre court, for when you have to play a round there?
Roger: “Centre court is not a problem for me, now I just want to go home and come back tomorrow”
Journalist: “Roger you don’t seem very enthusiastic today.”
Roger: “it’s just one of these days”
Journalist: Is your recent foot injury at the back of your mind?
Roger: “Now you really are planning to wind me up today, have I not told you all about it before?”
Journalist: “that’s because our readers, your fans are worried about it and wouldn’t like it to be a problem here in Paris.
Roger: “No my feet are fine, I have been taking good care of them and all is well on that respect…”
Journalist: So can we ask you why you are in a bad mood roger today?
Roger: I’m not in a bad mood! Oh sorry I didn’t mean to shout at anyone… It’s just I had organised feet massages and treatments, as a way to thank all players who participated in the event today.
Journalist: “that’s very thoughtful of you Roger!
Roger: “thanks, but obviously some of my colleagues didn’t appreciate that kind of treatment, but don’t ask me to mention any names.
Journalist: “No names then. Does that disappoint you of them?
Roger: “In a way yes, they should realise that feet are important to be at the top of the rankings.
Journalist: So you have told us many times what kind of treatment you get for your feet. Do you do anything special before a grand slam tournament?
Roger: “Nothing in particular to GS, but more to clay court. The main difference is how I handle my socks.
Journalist: “how?”
Roger: “Well because clay is a more demanding surface I wash them in a special way to make sure the rubbing is reduced.
Journalist: “Are you ready to give us the secret now then?
Roger: I’m not sure I want to…
Journalist: “Well a lot of your fans are impatient to know what they need to do to improve their tennis on clay!
Roger: Okay I’ll give you a hint. The socks are washed with soapy water, with a few drops of “Eau de Cologne”. Beside its combined effect with the soap, it is a good way to avoid nasty smells.

Dominik Hrbaty, who just enters the interview room, also participated in the event and sits down next to Roger, ready to join the interview.

Journalist: So, Dominik. Did you also participate in the feet treatment session?
Dominik: yeah, I did
Journalist: And what did you think about it?
Dominik: well… I’m not really into that feet-business... I’d rather go shopping for special tennis clothes than undergo all those feet massages.
Journalist: but how do you prepare for a match then?
Dominik: I look in my wardrobe and then I think about what clothes I’ll wear… and that depends on the weather, the opponent and how my mood is that day…
Journalist: What clothes should you wear when you had to play against Roger?
Dominik: Maybe my famous shirt with holes… I like that one very much and I’m sure Roger will like it too.
Roger: Mmm... don’t think so..
Dominik: not??

Kim Clijsters enters the interview room too and just hears enough to know about what the discussion is going.

Kim: No.. I’m sorry Dominik, but I don’t like that shirt either. Maybe you should shop with me one day. Maybe I can choose a nice shirt for you.
Roger: O, I want that too, can I come with you then?
Kim: But you have a girlfriend, you can go shopping with her!
Roger: O yeah.. that’s true.
Kim: but what do you think of that Dominik?
Dominik: I have a girlfriend too. I select that shirt with her..
Kim: Are you sure she didn’t select that shirt for herself, in stead of for you?
Journalist: C’mon guys.. enough about the shirt of Dominik. Kim, did you also participate in the feet treatment session?
Kim: yes, and I really enjoyed it. I learnt a lot about feet and how to keep them in good shape. I think I’ll definitely do this more often. And I really understand now how Roger is the number one of the world. If you treat your feet so carefully, you must play well. So I really hope that if I treat my feet as special as Roger does, I’ll soon be number one of the world again.
Roger: Yeah, I hope that for you. I’m sure that when people pay more attention to their feet, they’ll play tennis a lot better.
Kim: yeah, I agree with you.
Dominik: Sorry guys since I’m a bit out of place here next to feet lovers, I really have to go, I’m going to practise some more with my coach, before I go shopping for my match tomorrow.
Roger: Feet lovers? That sounds good. Bye Dominik, good luck in the first round!
Journalist: yes, and I have to go too. Really thanks to all three of you for the interview, and good luck in Roland Garros to the both of you! And Kim we would love doing an interview with you too one day, as a lot of our readers support you too.
Kim: Sure, anytime.

Oh dear I'm not much online for a bit and this thread gets forgotten
Fellow SYNNY writers are we thinking of another interview or not?

Nymeria
07-04-2005, 08:05 PM
We have had a stop for some time, sorry for this our readers, but we didn’t have the chance to contact the players. But of course, after this wonderful victory of Roger Federer again last weekend, we had to try to contact him again for another SYNNY-interview. Sadly, there were too many interviewers, who wanted to talk about the match or the championship, so we didn’t get any minutes to speak to him. But Roger recognised us when we walked away and he told us “if you e-mail me I will make sure I will send a reply back!” So that is how it started…

Dear Roger,

Thanks to give us the possibility to e-mail you. First of all we have to congratulate you with another fantastic Wimbledon title! We really enjoyed following you during this tournament and we are very grateful you gave us the possibility to send you this email. Especially because you did do us a big favour! You showed your feet during one of your matches and of course the tears at the end again! So we would like to know, why did you cry? Did your feet hurt after such a fantastic Wimbledon? Or was it because of your golden shoes, they were specially for Wimbledon isn’t it?

Of course we would also like to know what was wrong with your feet earlier in Wimbledon. We tried to contact you after that match, but somehow SYNNY is now allowed to have interviews during Wimbledon. I have no idea what we have done wrong.

I won’t make this e-mail too long, because I know you are busy and you also want your free time. Again thanks for giving us the possibility to e-mail you.

Ste and Yvo
SYNNY writers

Dear Ste and Yvo,

I have been looking forward to read this e-mail since I told you to e-mail me. So far I have loved to be part of your magazines and it is worth my time! That is why I asked you to send me an e-mail because I had some questions for you as well and it is great to answer your, always funny, questions.
And seems I was right with my thought, because who would’ve thought you would came with the question if I cried because my feet did hurt! Well I am not going to reply on that question, because I guess you know the answer! But you gave me a laugh asking it!
I am a bit in a hurry now, because they want to take some photos with the trophy. But I will answer your other questions in a next e-mail. And please could you explain me the meaning of SYNNY and how it started? Thanks in advanced!

xxx

Roger

Dear Roger,

Thanks for your quick reply! We are glad you do like the SYNNY-magazines so far, we have to be fair, we had some negative response from some tennis players, because they said we gave men’s tennis a bad name. But we like it at least one player, and not just a player but the nr1 of the world does like it!
The explanation of SYNNY… well it somehow just started when I (Yvo) did have an interview with you and the others (Ste, Yasmine, Nancy and Nienke) wanted to join writing the magazine. I guess the names explain the meaning of SYNNY. We just wanted a different kind of interviews with the players we adore. Thanks for being interested in our history, if you can call it that, coz we are not old yet.
How is it that you have to make time for all these extras on Wimbledon? Everything is so precisely scheduled!
Well we won’t ask too many more questions, since you still have to answer some of the first e-mail.

Ste and Yvo
SYNNY-writers

Dear Ste and Yvo,

Sorry this has to be very quick, these photos took longer than I thought and now I have to make myself ready for the champions’ ball. You are right about these extra’s, everything is scheduled. But since I love this tournament, I do also like these things, it makes it special. Without this schedule Wimbledon wouldn’t be Wimbledon, and without Wimbledon I would not have three Wimbledon-titles. So I just have to love the schedule as well. OK Mirka, she is sitting next to me, says I am writing nonsense now, yes I did have a drink already, so I better don’t write too much.
Sorry for not answering all your questions, maybe we can have another interview soon? I will take off some time for holiday now, but I don’t mind to have an interview after that!

Roger

Dear Roger,

We appreciate that. Hopefully we can get an interview again after your holiday, enjoy the dinner and your deserved holiday!

Ste and Yvo
SYNNY-writers

We thought we had finished this article with this last e-mail and we did almost post the magazine, when we did get another pop-up message “You received a new e-mail from Roger Federer”

Dear Ste and Yvo,

I know it is quite late now, and I will just write what I have to write, because the nonsense are worse than before (well I deserved a drink, didn’t I?). I would like to give you the possibility to e-mail me during my holidays, I can’t promise I reply as quick as I did today, but I don’t mind to give a short update on for example my feet (because that is what you are interested in, isn’t it?)
OK, Mirka says I really should leave now! This is the last e-mail, I will fly back to Switzerland tomorrow, so you can publish your magazine now.

Love,

Roger

So this is it, we hope we can update you with more feet-news during his holiday, but it won’t be a lot, because as SYNNY-writes we also know that the tennisplayers deserve their privacy. So don’t expect us to send e-mails to him, we are already happy we are allowed to contact him once in a while.
We would like to thank Roger for his corporation for this article, and we hope to talk to you again before the USO starts.

I think you don't have an influence on that... sometimes ideas are just flowing and then on other days you just have no clue how to do something...

True :) and usually when you are with your mind somewhere else, the ideas get better! Coz you think in a different way. Once you start to concetrate on ideas, they won't come

exactly that's a reason why I am not working in a media sector even if I'd love to because if I need ideas then they mostly won't come!!!

I would love to work in the media sector, but the quality of my writings is quite bad (coz languages are not my fav subjects)

same for me, except I can write quite good :) and with those ideas you have and your writing, I don't see why you can't work in this sector either

Believe me, I wouldn't be good for this sector. Even while I love writing, languages are not my thing, and languages are quite important for this branch I think.
And I would also be too shy for it I guess :p

Well I'm sure you know yourself good enough and if you come to this conclusion I can't say anything against it. ;) But I don't think shyness should be a reason.

I think shyness is a reason, coz you should be able to ask questions etc. and I am really not good in that. So I think I will continue with writing reports and some synny-interviews, but that's all, it means I can write, but it ain't that important if the quality is good or not

Good to see we're a bunch of writers overhere;), not even saying we're able to write pretty well in a language that's not our mother tongue  Steffan you should join the SYNNY team sometimes:devil:
