Afleet Alex is my pick, but will be playing a ton of exotics tomorrow. Pissed that he has passed Bellamy Road as the favorite

Won't know exact odds until race has started, but Bellamy Road will be floating around 3 to 1 I think. I think he'll be run out by the first quarter...Afleet Alex, Bandini, and High Fly will have one of the winners, imo.

Hope I'm not out of line in posting here, even though I haven't bet a dime (10-cent or any number of zeros after it  )...but I'm a fan of the Derby and don't see any discussion of it anywhere else. Normally, I'm running around trying to put the last few touches on my Derby Party fixin's before the house fills up...but alas...I'm alone today. Just made my minted simple syrup, though, and have the derby glass in the freezer. First mint julep goes down at 5 EDT and my cheeks'll be red by post time.

Don't really have a favorite...didn't follow much pre-race hoopla since we weren't having a party...but I'll go with Flower Alley and/or Noble Causeway (just to be different from the pack). Wilco's a pretty redhead (for a boy ;) ) so I'll have plenty to watch.

Cowboy up!

Taking AA and Sun King to win, High Fly, Bandini, and Andromeda's Hero in exotics. Good luck :bounce:

Damn, we're good!!!

Alex :smash:

Visions of a 6 or 7 figure payday quickly evaporate in the 2 minutes, same story every year

The exotics are going to pay ABSURD amounts in this one

I don't care what anyone says, fixed or not. It's the most exciting 2 minutes in sports. Ok, well, maybe not sports...competition. Ok, well maybe not even that. But GD, what a race. Flower faded at the turn for home but it was one of the closer (and fastest) Derbys (IMHO) in recent memory.

I just wanna know what VISA had to do to get their Steinbrenner ad aired right before the horses got shoved in the gates. Oh right, they're the Triple Crown bonus sponsors. :haha:

Steinbrenner. Still losing. Torre's gone before the end of the season (and I never thought I'd see that happen).

Exacta paid 9.8k
Trifecta paid 133k
Superfecta paid 1.7 plus million

Why didn't I put $2 on that super?

Helluva payoff, to be sure. Two real long shots 1-2.

The winner makes me think of The Big Easy (soundtrack). If you get a chance, check out any real cajun version of Iko Iko. I think Cyndi Lauper did a cover of it...but the chorus refers to giacomo. I've got it playing now...and may watch Barkin and Quaid get it on...instead of Bogie and Becall. ;)

You should've been listening to it before the race  An all/all exacta of $380 returned almost ten dimes, that would have been better and more fun to just cheer for random longshots
