Bec is with Child!

It's official.

Bec is three months pregnant.

Lleyton is going to be a daddy.

What do you guys think?

Gee this whole relationship has been fast tracked. I'm happy for them if their happy, but I just hope this doesn't take away Lleyton's motivation for tennis.

I wish them both happiness. As I said in GM, Lleyton loves kids and he'll make a great dad. I honestly don't think it'll have an effect on his career, because he has shown an almost super-human ability to get on the tennis court and focus on his game.

uh... well, I'm a little surprised. :scared:

As an old foggie, I like a wedding before a baby, but Saint Pat did it the other way around, so I'm sure it will work this way too. :)

But, this makes me feel much better. I mean, it worried me that Bec didn't seem to want children and I know that's important to Lleyton. I mean... I could give two raps about Bec except as she makes Lleyton happy. Lleyton's whole life is going to be so much more than winning slams and tournaments. By far the greatest part of it is going to be his wife and his children. So, I can't wait to see Lleyton holding a little bundle.

*tries desperately to count back three months. So.... Bec was getting pregnant during the AO??????

My mom used to tell me that my fingers would fall off if I tried to figure out when babies were conceived vis-a-vis their parents' wedding dates. ;) ;)

Lisbeth

 well ideally, I do too Christina ;) If for no other reason than it's ideal for parents to have publicaly declared their commitment to each other and any kids (not that that always works either!)

HOWEVER it royally pisses me off (if you'll excuse the Australian  ) when people in GM or wherever talk about "bastards" like it's the fricking middle ages. I would much rather a kidlet be raised by a responsible couple (or, for that matter person, or gay couple, or commune) who love and want it than by irrational kneejerkers who only want children so they can raise someone to share their silly narrow uneducated view of the world. Actually, if I had to ban anyone from having children it would be fundamentalists of any persuasion ;) Statistically, they have far more screwed up kids than unmarried tennis players ;)

Right-y-o. Rant over. Back to packing  Does anyone know if I should take an umrella to Italy in May?

:haha: Sensible lady (and btw my parents waited 6 years so no I'm not touchy about this for any personal reason)!

Babies are always a blessing in my view, as well as a huge responsibility of course. Many people would love one and can't have them.

Oh weel... re GM..... I haven't read it yet, and may never read it. ;) But, you absolutely know that if Mirka were pregnant... or if one of Safin's dolls turned up preggers... it would be a totally different story. :) :)

This is getting weirder and weirder like some reality TV show.

Everything you said. I agree it's a bit surprising that they'd have a baby before the nuptials. So counting back if it really is exactly three months from today that's the time he proposed so maybe they did a little too much celebrating. :p

Congrats to both. I just hope this doesn't mean we'll see less of Lleyton on the tennis court. Maybe he'll have the wife and child with him at tournaments. Lleyton holding a baby. Cute. :hearts:

confirmed by Glynn,too ;)

Bec and Lleyton serve up a baby
Luke Dennehy and Leo Schlink
07may05

BEC Cartwright and fiance Lleyton Hewitt are expecting their first child.

Hewitt's father, Glynn Hewitt, confirmed the pregnancy to the Herald Sun last night.
"We can confirm the news," he said. "We are tremendously excited and happy about it."

The baby is due in October. :baby:

The couple announced their engagement on February 1, the day after Hewitt lost the final of the Australian Open to Marat Safin in Melbourne.

They had been together for seven weeks before announcing the engagement, and recently bought a $4.5 million mansion in Sydney's Palm Beach.

Sources close to Cartwright said a wedding was expected in December after the baby was born.

She has been suffering morning sickness on the Home and Away set.

Before meeting Hewitt, Cartwright was engaged to former Home and Away actor Beau Brady.

At last Sunday night's Logies Hewitt did not leave Cartwright's side all night, and she did not pick up a drink, fuelling the rumours.

"I'm not drinking, I've been too busy," she said at the awards.

Cartwright wore a flowing Lisa Ho creation compared to her usual figure-hugging outfits that she has become known for at past Logies.

Accompanied by both couple's parents at the Channel 7 after-party at Pure South in Southbank, Hewitt once again did not leave his fiance's side.

At the party Cartwright also did not drink and the couple left early, Cartwright not socialising with her Home and Away cast mates.

Hewitt has been by Cartwright's side the past two months recovering from a foot injury as she continues her punishing schedule on the set of Home and Away in Sydney.

Hewitt is expected to return to the circuit representing Australia at the World Team Cup in Dusseldorf from May 15, before the French Open in Paris the week after.

Cartwright has been granted leave in June to head to London to watch Hewitt at Wimbledon.

After that the couple are scheduled to make a trip to the couple's planned orphanage for children affected by HIV/AIDS in northern Cambodia.

Cartwright was due to return to the set of Dancing With The Stars for a special showdown with this year's winner, Tom Williams, but pulled out at the last minute.

Sources told the Herald Sun her Home and Away contract is up for renewal at the end of the year and she is not likely to continue on the show. One source said Cartwright was the kind of girl who would give up her career for the time being for a strong and stable family life.

The couple are expected to make an appearance at a charity ball in Sydney tonight.

It’s wonderful news for both of them! I know that some people have issues with them not being married yet, but honestly if they love each other and are happy then it would supply a much more stable family unit than some married couples I know. i mean they are together for like 5 or 6 month and i already think that it's totally crazy to get married after such a short time... okay the pregnancy might have been an accident but still...

di you guys think that it is possible that they got engaged because of this pregnancy?
well, anyway, i didn't want to offend anyone by that, so if i did, i apologize!!
and if i have repeated stuff which people have already said before, i'm sorry as well, because i didn't read all those pages...
and i want to make sure that i wish lleyton, bec and the baby all the best for the future!!
btw: i think there are other celebrity couples who got a child very early and are still together... i'm not quite sure but isn't this the case with reese witherspoon and ryan phillippe?

I think it's pretty official:

Bec's baby bump
08may05

MOTHER-to-be Bec Cartwright showed off her baby bump yesterday during an afternoon shopping trip on Sydney's northern beaches.

Dressed in tummy-revealing, hipster-style track pants and a basic T-shirt, the soapie star clearly wasn't shy about impending motherhood as she strolled through Avalon with fiance Lleyton Hewitt.

She and Hewitt exchanged kisses and hugs as they walked through Avalon's Barefoot Boulevard, stopping to chat with locals.

The couple, who announced last week they are expecting their first child, bought groceries at Woolworths then stopped to purchase a takeaway roast chicken before heading back to their new $4.5 million Palm Beach mansion.

The couple are yet to set a date for their wedding, but confirmed on Friday that Bec is three months pregnant.

They had been together for seven weeks before announcing their engagement in January, the night Hewitt lost his Australian Open final against Roger Federer.

Hewitt's father Glynn confirmed the couple were expecting their first child.

"We are tremendously excited and happy about it," Mr Hewitt said.

Last week, Cartwright won a Silver Logie for most popular actress and was nominated for the Gold Logie for most popular television personality.

[hope they enjoyed their chicken! :p]

Its very late at the moment, but i think i just saw an ad for today/tonight saying that they have the exclusive interview from Bec and Lleyton about the pregnancy. It says they will discuss Lleytons future in tennis and Becs future on Home and Away.

The reason for the "oh No"..... is today/tonight is possibly the crappiest, trashiest current affairs program on tv!!!

I wish they would stop talking on that show. I guess its because Bec has chanel seven commitments!

Pregnant Bec sick on set

May 9, 2005

EXPECTANT mum Bec Cartwright is suffering from severe morning sickness and has been ill on the set of Home and Away.

"I've been suffering not just morning sickness but all day sickness which isn't fun when you have to go to work and be as perky as Hayley," she tells New Idea.

"Also, to keep it a secret for the first three months I've tried to be as normal as possible so no one catches on," she says.

She initially thought it was a stomach bug, caught from her sister when the sickness came on.

"But then I started getting suspicious and I found out that this bug was going to stick around a little longer."

Cartwright said she and fiance Lleyton Hewitt were awaiting furniture to be delivered to their new $4.5million Palm Beach palace and would now have to order more to fit out a nursery for the child, due in October.

"When we walked through the house our parents were joking around and said: 'Oh this room could be the nursery,' but we didn't even know then," she said.

She also gone off her favourite food -- chocolate -- and is craving garlic bread, garlic pizza and apples.

"And I can't stand the smell of coffee," she says.

She said she expected people to think "they do things quickly" but the couple were taking parenthood very seriously.

According to Lleyton, family comes before tennis but we won't be losing him from the spotlight.

"I'll be playing as many tournaments as I can next year and trying to keep my ranking in the top couple in the world," he told the magazine. :yeah:

I'm not gonna lie, but I think Lleyton AND Bec are too young to be having a baby when their relationship is still so fresh!!! I mean, do famous people not know how to use birth control anymore or the morning after pill? I thought celebrities were supposed to be the flaming liberals. All I have to say is, five years down the road when these two are divorced, they're gonna be thinking, wow, what were we doing? We were just kids making grown-up decisions

But good luck to them... I mean, I am around their age, and I just think they make quick, not well-thought out decisions, and I seriously hope that I am just jumping to conclusions about them and that I am very wrong about them. But there's something off about all the decisions they make in my opinion and the lack of time they allow themselves to make these decisions and that's just not a sign of intelligence and wisdom to me

Glad to hear you aren't going to have any babies preciptiously. :yeah:

and  Nwando. Haven't seen you around for quite awhile.

In their defence - not everything always happens for clear cut rational reasons. And whatever your situation age/relationship status you would never EVER regret having your child.

Jess, I can honestly say that if I had a baby now, I can regret it--because I know i wouldnt purposely have one. And I am sure some people might gasp at me too see that. But, I dont reallu care because I am emotionally and mentally incapable of bringing someone into this world. And duh, I know that might not be lley's and bec's situation, but I *personally* think they make quickie decisions. That kind of behavior, scares me... and it's not just them, it's Britney Spears, Heath Ledger, Jennifer Garner... it's cool for people to get pregnant these days after not even a year of dating... that scares me, and that is just my personal opinion

You missed your calling, you should have been a preacher.

Oh, I'm sorry, I must have offended you somewhere. Too bad. But no apologies if you couldn't maturely handle my opinion without adding in a pathetic  You should be a preacher b/c you obviously can't handle other people's perspectives, so keep preaching your own and keep rolling eyes hon

I don't judge other people's personal conduct, and I don't impose my moral views on others. What two consenting adults do in their personal lives is their own business. That's not preaching, it's minding my own business. Why don't you try it for a change.

Well, when you're a public figure, who sends out press releases about your engagement, your 2-second girlfriend's pregnancy, and crisis PR photos of you and your happy doody do new girlfriend two seconds after you end a relationship with your previous one, it's kind of, oh, I don't know, inviting people into your business.

And you know what, as long as anyone is talking about it, which includes your hypocritical ass, it's being in somebody's business. So just because your opinion is a little more old-fashioned than mind, doesn't make you any more of a less-nosy person because, through this thread, we have BOTH reacted to their business. Kinda hard not to when you're famous!

Well, you told me to stay out of their business when this entire forum is swamped with your comments about their wedding, and their pregnancy and THEIR personal life. So yes you are a hypocritical ass... as am I, regarding the insult comment, but I'll own up--i would hope it's not that scary of an admission ;)

I hadn't checked in here for a while so I didn't really know what was going on with Lleyton. So, I come here today and read THESE NEWS. Wow.

Guess i'll need some time to digest it... but I wish them happiness nevertheless!

Firstly I agree with you, I don't think it's ideal to have a baby after you've been dating not even a year. I don't think it's *ideal* to have a baby when you're young. In the ideal perfect world you wouldn't have a baby until you'd been married at least five years, had a rock solid marriage and enough financial security to never have to worry about that ever again.

But hello! This is real life. Real life doesn't happen like a fairytale when everything happens in the order that ideally it would. Things happen, you deal with them. I'm sure Lleyton and Bec will deal with having a baby and love it dearly regardless of how long they've been together. I'm sure all those other famous people you listed will as well.

Because that's what it's like and that's what you don't understand. A baby that is yours is the most important thing in your life and everything else that you once thought was important seems such a secondary consideration. I'm honestly not sitting here saying "hey it's ideal to rush into babies when you're young and have known each other five minutes." but for gods sake don't sit and be so bloody judgmental about other peoples situations when you know nothing about them.

basically i agree with you; i just want to add that you' re never the right age to have baby, (too young, too old, too soon, to late.......) and you only know how you feel about having a baby when he/she is born; the rest is pure speculation

Wow, haven't been here in forever and it's a good thing I browsed today because I didn't even know about the whole pregnancy report. You know at this rate, I'll leave for another couple of months again and by that time I'll come back, they would both be dead. Seriously those two seem to be racing through life at this point.

That said, good for them. I really am not going to get into this whole debate about whether it is right, wrong, stupid....whatever. We don't know the people and while I personally couldn't imagine having a baby at my age (or any age for that matter) seems a little silly to just assume they'll fall on their face or that it's such a tragic, horrible mistake. My friend had a completely unplanned pregnancy at 22 and believe me she was NOT happy. However she dealt with it and while she admits it's been hard at times, she doesn't regret having her daughter at all.

Yes Lleyton and Bec have only been together a short while but at least....at least, they are engaged which obviously suggests that they want to spend the rest of their lives with each other. Now if they were still only dating and she got pregnant one month into the relationship or whatever, that'd be slightly more disturbing. Honestly, the two both seem to have supportive families and Lleyton has for the most part always seem pretty grounded and stable (certainly not as flighty or immature as most 24 year old guys) so it could all work out.

Personally Lleyton and Bec having a child together, despite the fact that they are 24 and 22 respectively; does not bother me as much as Britney Spears and that loser husband of hers bringing a child into the world. Now THAT is a scary thought.

Omg :haha: :haha:

The only substantial thing I have to add is to reiterate the fact that I really, honestly have a little trouble with the whole "sometimes accidents happen" aspect of unplanned pregnancies. But whatever :p And everyone already knows my views on sex, marriage, and pregnancy, and I'd hate to be accused of preaching or pushing my moral views on y'all, so :p Yeah :p

I totally agree with the first 2 paragraphs. But I really don't see it as too judgmental to say you think they are moving too fast or whatever. Now, if someone says something about how "unChristian" it is to have a baby out of wedlock, then yeah, that's just stupid.

Some people don't think it's PC to say anything but congrats and well wishes to them, etc. and maybe that's true. But, if we were all PC all the time, this message board would have tumbleweeds blowing through.

My thing about this is, I just don't believe celebrity couples can stay together, it just goes with the territory. It always seems the more hype that follows the couple, the less time their relationship lasts. Maybe I'm being a pessimist. But, look at the statistics. Ok, I don't know exactly what those statistics are, but... they can't be good.

That said, I hope Lleyton & Bec prove me wrong and are happy and stay together, that their kids are happy and healthy. I also hope he stays in tennis and does great, although I think the probabilities for that are still very good!

All I was saying is that they make "quickie decisions" and that "scares me." If it scares me, let it scare me. If you are okay with it, then good for you. But don't "hello, this is real life" me, because I am aware events unfold for different people in different ways, or less traditional ways. This pregnancy has shocked a lot of Lleyton fans, not just myself. Maybe my comments were a little more out there, but I tend not to be political correct. Wah wah wah. I know Lleyton and Bec will love their child, but I think, I, yes me, I think "quickie decisions" in such a young relationship are scary.

That's my personal reaction. Let me personally react and get over it

I do understand that if people have a baby, whether they are 14, whether they are *****, or whether the baby is conceived after 5 years of marriage, it is difficult not to love a baby. Maybe that's why in my first post I said, "good luck to them, and I hope I am wrong about them." And you're right, I know nothing about them--which is why i said i hope I am wrong about them. But in a short period time, Lleyton has become a completely different person--and when someone changes drastically, it's hard not to be judgmental or opinionated about them. Forgive my human nature! So I am gonna continue being judgmental and opinionated, because this is a message board, where people discuss topics of public interest, and if you wanna keep playing God and acting like I have sinned for that, be my guest

I think Jess is speaking from her personal experience and you from yours. I know that Jess wouldn't ever ever regret having her baby even though she wasn't ready for her baby and even though she has changed Jess's life completely.

Yeah. I think everyone is surprised and shocked and a little bit worried about what this means for Lleyton. I know I was really worried about Coria getting married so young, but so far it's worked out quite well for him.

And it does bother me that people who apparently can't even look after a small dog have babies, but Lleyton loves children and wants them in his life, so I think he's probably happy and excited. We just have to hope that he's picked a woman who is as good a person as he appears to be. :)
