Here's an article from blick:

Federer
Der Jäger ist jetzt ein Gejagter <?? what is Jager??

VON CÉCILE KLOTZBACH AUS AUSTRALIEN

TENNIS SYDNEY

Wie ein Profi eben: Federer beim Stretching.
FOTO: ANDREAS BLUMENTHAL

<braun -- tanned? mude? Corretja said this in Gstaad!

<??? acht what? what about Doha?

<he's signing autographs and doing photo sessions??

<??

This is odd. I had a bad feeling even before i saw the result and now that i've seen the result the feeling is VERY bad.

What happened Rogi? maybe he's saving it all for the AO. Hope so. And Lapentti lost real bad too. What, did they have the same thing to eat or sthing? *sigh*

Well, in other news, Guga won his match against a quali and now he plays another quali. What is it w him and quali's? and of all ppl it's Michael Russell! you all remember him?! he had MP against Guga at the FO in 2001. *sigh*

Hi RF
Sorry I really haven't got time for translations right now.
Just said that flying out of Doha was kind of awquad as there aren't so many flights. And that Roger is followed by fans for every step he's doing. It's like that since Shanghai he said. He's pretty popular among the fans (oh yes he is :P)
And he likes it to be in aussi land where the mantality matches perfectly with his.

Well the ranking hunter is now the hunted one (Jäger = hunter)
Müde = tired and you got braun = tanned right.

Lily
I had the very same bad feeling when I found out who he had to play first...

....guess we both were right with our feelings.

Well good luck now in the AO Roger!!

Opps even more bad news!!

Apparently Roger has injured his adductores on the right leg.....
... he felt the injury already in Doha. Now he'll see with his Phisio when he'll travel to Melbourne. Looks like he's really worried about it.

Well keep the fingers crossed for you Roger that it isn't as bad and that you still will be able to play AO!!
Get well soon Roger!!

:( Oh no Rogi! I was wondering how he was physically!! Oh pls let this be a minor injury!! Poor Rogi... I hate it when I don't know what's going on... when he lost to JMG in Doha we couldn't get scores for hours and ILR and everyone had this feeling that it was NOT a good sign and we were right!! :( Rogi must be feeling really bad. I knew he couldn't just LOSE to Squillari [come on!]... I was worried it was his mental [which he still needs to work on -- once that's sorted, he'll really be unbeatable (even Maratski is working on his!;) ).

I hope the crowd wasn't hard on him!

:( Poor Rogi!

Federer was hampered by a leg problem which he said needed immediate treatment but would not stop him playing in the Australian Open next week.

"So long as I can walk and play a little bit, I'll go on court," he said. "I'm not considering pulling out."

lol ILR!

Rogi is DEFINITELY not a KD!! KD is WAY too plastic for my tastes... I prefer a REAL-life Swiss doll like Rogi.

The only degrees I have are in languages [and one in education -- blah] because I sucked in most other subjects!! :p

I am one of those scatterbrained Aquarians [kinda like Maratski... a point we have in common I like to add!] whose mind wanders constantly. I think about a million things at once all the time. Amazing I get anything accomplished... now I'm posting, looking at my old French tennis mags, doing work in French and checking the weather out there -- snowing.

Hey Surrey was flooded I see... just like in 2000 when I was in UK and Spain...

Looks like we're getting a REAL winter this year...

Rogi -- not a good time to have an injury dear! He must still be in holiday mode -- have you seen any Sydney matches?? We, of course, get nada!!

I'll be nervous watching AUSOpen though... worrying about my guys.

V tough matchups so far this year, for everyone.

We get coverage for AO I think late at night and maybe sort of mid-afternoon -- last year I remember waiting for Rogi/Tommy's Rd 16 match after that Capriati/Grande marathon. I was going crazy!! Stayed up til 2.30am watching LIVE scores after the TV coveraged ended when Rogi won the 2nd set -- I was mad they didn't extend it to show his 3rd set win!! When I woke up the next morning I was so upset at his loss -- I still feel it as if it were yesterday -- but it was a hell of a match, wasn't it? I think someone said it featured "two fo the most attractive players" on the circuit -- so true!

You saw Tommy's new haircut right?? Seems to be a trend... Carlos too! not Juanqui though!!

I was thinking the same ILR! Pls Rogi don't cut your beautiful brown curls!! He looks so cool in long hair. I wonder where Nina gets those pix of him. Gosh, he looked so sad in the press conference. What! "So long as I can walk"? It sounded so serious, how is the extend of the injury, anybody? I'm glad that he's not pulling out, but it's not good that he will have to hop around .

I feel the same way, Mrs. Guga...sometimes i wonder how Rogi really feels about using all his talent. I remember last year at the AO during his match w Tommy, a reporter had asked him how he felt about fame and everything and he said sthing like, "I'm about as famous as I want to be" and PMac said, "well then he better not win any GS." but I really think theres some truth in that. Maybe he's scared that he'll change...well, Guga was also scared when he won the FO in '97...scared he'd be a different person and Larri had to tell him that he wouldnt change. Maybe PL has to do that same thing w Rogi. I just see a lot in common w those 2. Both are the nicest guys, both have all the talent in the world. I believe its only a matter of time before Rogi truly recognizes his talent. :)

Well, Rogi's leg injury would certainly explain his two losses. He must feel terrible. You can see it in that pic. And yes, even when he's hurt and frustrated, he's still beautiful. Oh Rogi  Its never a good time for an injury, but right before the AO is really not a good time. oh Rogi

:) Sorry I missed you Lily! We'll all send good vibes to Rogi for his quick recovery. I think some players, when they finally reach a semi or final of a big tourney, they suddenly realize what's happening... it must be scary even though they want to win... can be overwhelming so they freeze or don't know how to deal w it. I think Rogi's like that -- he wants it but is afraid at the same time. Even Pat who won 2 USO -- those 2 Wimby finals were tough on him, esp. 2001 vs. the invincible Goran -- it was heartbreaking... I can't watch that match.

But that doesn't mean they're not talented... if anything, they're moreso... natural talent means they never had to work for it or even think about it. It's so tough out there -- the ruthless ones win big. Oh well... I'm happy some good guys are winning their matches and tourneys.

:) Here's another Blick article on Rogi:

I'm just curious to know what's happening!

Artikel vom 8. Januar 2003 / Quelle: Blick

Federer verletzt
Wie schlimm ist es wirklich?

Federer leidet.

Was sind Adduktoren?

Roger gestern lakonisch: «Was soll ich mich aufregen?

Will he be OK for AO?? Hope so! :(

Doris Loeffel

RF it's not sure yet if he'll be OK for the AO

Geee I hope so. He tries to get rid of the pain with his new Phisio Pavel Kovac (who looked after Petr Korda several years the AO winner back then.). If not he has to see a doctor.

Right now Roger feels unsecure he doesn't have the timing. He preferes to go to Melbourne with heaps of selfconfidence than with a bad feeling.

Waiting in line for tickets, is that the only way to get Wimby? That's every day?

My first time seeing Rogi was in TO last summer and, as you know, Canas knocked him out in the first round... poor Rogi! He was having such a hard time since RG... and the week I saw him, Peter Carter died tragically. I saw 2 of his doubles matches -- the one he and Wayne won vs. Marat/Yevy -- good match but went too quickly, and the one they lost vs. Eagle/Stolle, the day after PC's death... he was so sad!:(

But I hope to see him again this year if all goes well!
