alexito36, considering that Grosjean hadn't done anything in a while, Andre was a big favorite so somewhat of a surprising result. I wanted to see a Roddick and Agassi final.

Grosjean was serving and protecting his games very well. Glad he's managing to win more matches now, even if it had to be against Agassi.

So then dylan, are you going to shout "Andre, you pussy!" when you see him at the US Open this year?

Tout bien Seb!

Not even Andre's crispest ball-striking in the game label could save him against the Frenchman.

Can't say I'm the least bit surprised, as it is on clay and Grosjean has been known to excel on said surface.

I would like to change my answer though, since I wasn't sure on nationality regulations, and go ahead and put Dr. Dre in as the 10th final tournament participant.

There's just too much hardcourt schedule remaining to count out Sir Baldness.

Many congratulations to Seb - a nice guy who has had so much bad luck recently. Good Luck to him for the rest of the tournament.

I wonder if George W Bush walked in and put him off this time.

Agassi played like shite. i think he was pissed off by the shitty quality of the court and half-way thru the match decided that he just didn't care anymore.

no excuse but the court seriously sucks. The Mattresses seriously need to revert to just being tennis fans

The quality of court wasn't going to get any better, but the organisation of this tournament deserves a straight red card, but that court is the same for both players.

Bravo Seb !
I didn't expect this one this morning, it's the kind of victory that will give him confidence for RG.
I wonder if the recent good results of Monfils and Gasquet didn't push him to remain as the French N. 1 a bit longer ;) :bounce: :yeah:

damn, I was hoping for an Agassi/Roddick matchup, but I like Grosjean, so its not too bad :)

what happened to Andre to go out 6-1 6-2 in the final sets?

Andre said that Seb raised his game a level in the second set and he just couldn't match it so nothing happened to Andre - Seb was just playing that much better. I hope Seb wins the tournament :)

The concluding two sets bring to mind Agassi's similarly chastening losses this year to Federer and Melzer at Dubai and San Jose respectively. They serve to further chart the American's physical decline, which is obvious to most. As glad as I am that Grosjean won, I can't imagine he would have come through with such ease (or won at all, for that matter) if Agassi's body had been more willing on the day. Grosjean has looked sadly exposed in virtually all aspects of his game in the two matches versus Agassi that preceded this one. If he beats Lapentti, the surface will give him the chance to challenge Roddick more on his service games, although on the evidence of the 2004 Queens final grass serves him better when trying to take out the American.

Andre developed a bad attitude after a couple of bad bounces on the shitty surface. and then he stopped playing. he started just pushing the ball back in the second set. then in the third set when he finally held and the crowd started screaming his name as if he was the Second Coming, he started trying again.

but his definition of trying is going for a huge first serve -- most of which he dumped into the net. i don't understand why Andre didn't try to develop a huge first serve when his shoulders were 10 years younger, but all of a sudden in his dotage he's decided that he needs to try to be the fricking Android. do you get the sense that that match seriously pissed me off?

Yes TC I can sense you're pissed off. But if Andre beat Grosjean and then lost to Roddick in the final I bet you would be twice as pissed off! :scared:

And Andre wants to win cheaper points especially playing on slow red clay so he's cranking up his first serve in hopes of winning cheaper points on his serve. It makes sense but it's not easy to do.

Have you calmed down yet Miss Chick?

yes you're right -- i can handle a loss to BigJohn more easily than i can handle one to the Duck. but my problem with Andre was not that he lost -- it was HOW. if he's gonna still be playing tennis, then he needs to stop behaving like a prima donna when things don't go his way.

Wow! Tough love from TC for Andre!:kiss: But that's always been your style to be hard on with your favorites. Hopefully Sfeffi honestly critiques Andre's game like you do. Or Cahill.
