I dunno if there's anything to cheer, but let's try, from time to time.
(neverending pesimism of Polish people).

how many good polish players are currently pro ranked?

Nathaliia
04-22-2005, 08:59 PM
good hmm... I would say Marta Domachowska, but she doesn't play in ATP (that's what I suppose). I would mention Lukasz Kubot, he's definitely good. We put our hope in Grzegorz Panfil, born in 1988. I think Adam Chadaj, Michal Przysiezny, Dawid Olejniczak, Maciej Dilaj, Filip Urban aren't that bad, too. And, of course - ranked in doubles, Marcin Matkowski and Mariusz Fyrstenberg.
Mariusz with Tomas Cibules defeated Roddick with his mate.

I always cheer them. My own patriotism.

We have Adam Chadaj.

And some other not bad guys.

C'mon Poles lets unite :D we have 3 players in 2nd round of our challenger - Pekao Open (yeah and why polish TV is so excited about that ??? :p I don't know  ) isn't that gr8 (and I am not sarcastic :p almost :p) unfortunatelly Chadaj is out :( I really think he is quite good but we'll have 1 player in the 3rd round for sure :p Matkowski/Olejniczak ..... just wondering what is wrong with us I mean our players ?? when I watch them I really don't think they are playing worse than others ....

For all the jokes about Chadaj, he seems to be a decent player.

Kubot has potential, here's hoping he becomes something. He's also quite cute.

Hi Natalia,

I didn't have time to update it last week, so Ive done it just now. Let's cheer for Poles this week, especially Kubot and Chadaj have great chances to reach QFs.

BTW, do you know this guy who got the WC in Aachen this week?

George_Hanson
11-03-2005, 02:50 PM
Lukasz Kubot is in the QF of a challenger for the 2nd time in a row. He will improve his career high next week for sure. And looking at the draw, he has even the possibility to get the 2nd challenger title this year

hello George :)
well... i have heard of him, i even seen him live and i guess i even seen him play in sopot Q last year...
trust me ... hehe... it's a big lol. misunderstanding, just look at his profile at ITF as his hobby he mentions girl
Younes niezle po nim poprul w wywiadzie ze mna
(sorry for that sentence in Polish but gives enough imagination of the skills of Lipka)
finally.... what i can say... invented by Younes El Aynaoui and Nathaliia M. : 'product of the system --

check e-bay, pay and play'

it was said JC Ferrero asked for a WC for him, looks like Ferrero is scared of youngsters cuming up so he wanna promote this kind of uhmmm players.

Kubot ma szanse na Top100 i to wszystko. A z polskich juniorów to znam tylko jednego, ale on już chyba zakończył karierę po tym jak wpadł w alkoholizm

Interview from Sopot site...
Tuesday, 1 August 2006
8:20 pm
"I would not want to blame the organizers, but what happed today came as a bit of a shock. My match was scheduled as the fifth match of the day on central court. It was not supposed to start before 18:30. The first two matches were really long so I decided to get some sleep because I had a big meal. When I woke up Panfil was playing on central court. I knew that the match scheduled after that, Calleri against Armando, was going to be really long. After Panfil's first set I got a phone call that I'm playing next. Panfil finished in 15 minutes, which gave me insufficient time to prepare for the match. I had stomach problems, I do not know why I was not moving on the court and couldn't play the way I normally do. I did not want to retire because I want to compete in the doubles' draw".

"I am sorry, I feel bad because I let down the fans and I let myself down but I will say one thing - I will never forget what happened here today and I will remember what the organizers did".

"I know that my opponent was put in the same position. But he was at the courts. I should be informed earlier about the change of schedule. This does not change the fact that according to my calculations I should start my match at about 20:00. Knowing this I ate a big meal. I thought only the ATP can move last matches to other courts. I was never put in a situation like this anywhere before, so I may be wrong".

"In my opinion, if you make that kind of a decision, you should inform the player much earlier than 15 minutes before the match. On the other hand, I guess I should that them that they called at all I was able to play the match. It was better for me not to retire the match since I want to play doubles".

"I am sorry. I got my first ATP points on these courts. This has always been a special tournament for me. I always left it all on the central court here in Sopot and you all saw what happened today. I apologize to everybody".

"Will I be back next year? We'll see..."

Nathaliia
08-17-2006, 12:43 PM
If he's not back, the crowd won't suffer of seeing him, which might make it up to a new advantage of that lovely tournament.

PS. Kristen thank you for this valuable interview heh...

lol, is he a pain in the ass?
All I know about him is that he's teamed with Oli to win some challengers, and he has pretty eyes. :tape:

I have a couple of pictures of Matkowski/Fyrstenberg which I will scan in the coming days and put here. (From my SLR camera... takes me forever to finish a film when I'm not at the tennis!) Fyrstenberg...there's something I like about him...I'm not entirely sure what it is  (How do you say his name... Mar-ee-oosh? (like push?) LOL Phonetics over the internet...it's great!

Hope you're well :D
