I was like you Silverwhite before but now i'm happy to discover it doesn't affect me the way i thought it would. There, there! Cheer up! :D What's happening is normal (except the level of play...) the contrary would have been an upset... And it will be of great use in the future for this young team to have experienced that! It will force them to think about some things that are wrong in their preparation, play, head etc... ;)

Croatia has very little chance against Russia. Croatia has no depth. Ljubicic and Ancic can play three matches in 3 days against likes of Roddick and Agassi , or Pavel and Hanesku. Not against Safin and Davydenko. Ancic has no chance whatsoever against either of the two on hardcourts. It will be just too tough for Ivan. To have a good chance Croatia needs to hope that at least one of two Russian top-tenners will be out with injury.. Croatia's only chance is to somehow make it a grasscourt tie.

So they can play agaissnt the likes of Roddick and Agassi on hardcourts in the Usa, but not agaisnt Davydenko on a fast court in Croatia? You make a lot of sense

I don't know if he will want to play again the davis cup after such a defeat.

Again, PHM will have the responsability of the loss, we'll see that in the French press. Sad that he had again to play the 5th match, that's life. Hope this time, he'll be easy than in the DC final in Paris a few years ago.

Personally, I had no favourites, so congrats to Russia. But, it would have been great to see Marat...

Agassi is old and no longer fit to play tense best-of-five stuff. Roddick is nowhere close to the hardcourt beast he used to be. Safin and Davydenko are two top 5 players. Ancic has nothing to hurt Safin or Davydenko with. He is nowhere as good from the baseline, he won't beat them with s&v either. he has not won any big match in Davis Cup yet. So, it is about Ljubicic winning all three. Very tall order. Russia is clearly a favourite. Take any leading player from each team with injury and Croatia is a dead meat right away. At this point the odds will be at least 2:1 Russia. Check with bookmakers if you don't believe me.

Davydenko cant touch Ivan or Ancic on fast court

Ivan and Safin are 2-2 heads up..alot of Tie-breaks.

Croatia will win doubles

so 3-1 if not 4-0

Congratulations to Igor. Oh he played excellently. What I wouldn't give to have seen him.

In Croatia-Russia, I really think that Croatia could have a chance if they played on grasscourts. Nikolay and Marat certainly aren't the best players on grass, and Mario is of course quite a good player on it. If croatia make the mistake of picking a court surface other than grass, I think the tie is Russia's. But upsets have happened, stanger things have happened in tennis...
