Oh it looked even better than I imagened. I think Richard will get his chances later but Nikolay should do it finally, maybe in four. If you play so mad against Andreev you normally cannot win against hot Nikolay I hope  Since Murray against Nalbandian or Verdasco against Wawrinka I wouldn´t be too optimistic.

France are done. They're going to loose this tie but it was a great fight and it was predictable. It would have been an upset if they had won even without Safin. Richard said in his post-match interview that he had pain in his right wrist and that it bothered him with his serve and forehand and that he made far too many UEs but that Davydenko played perfectly, was the boss on the court and that he definitely deserve his victory.
I just hope that the "reel" Paulo shows up and plays a great match not like the first one even if he end up loosing...
Richard has still a lot of things to learn if he really wants to be a great player one day...
I'd like to had that i really hate the behaviour of some of the Russian "supporters" (they don't deserve this name...)...

I just saw the end of this match.

Not the best part of the match probably because Gasquet looked so tired and nothing seemed to work for him. Richard really needs to work on his fitness level.

Anyway, I was listening to an interview with him afterwards. He has a funny accent; an odd way of pronouncing the "a" sounds. What part of France does he come from?

He's a big accent , yes, from the south of France (Perpignan).

I have to say I'm really schoked by Richard's fitness level, it's pathetic to be a bad physically at his age, when I see Nadal, at top of his form !!
And Richard, not able to make a match in 4 sets !

This fitness problem is true but it's also very much an excuse (because he's not as tired physically as he wants ppl to believe, he gave up mentally that's all...)... the problem is mental toughness that he needs to acquire...

He comes from the south of France and he as an accent when speaking the 'regular' French because of that (of the North...). He has a '"singing" voice...

Aaah...Ok. Sorry, then. ;) And now you have another player with a slight accent on the court. PHM comes from the North-East near the German border so he pronounces the "r" more and everything, and speaks little nasally but he doesn't have the reel very pronounced Alsacian accent...
Do the Russian players have accents too? (i know that's a stupid question but i need to speak about something funny, right now...)

Castafiore

No, you're right, Marine. I don't know Sérignan. The South of France'll do me as explanation. :)

Thanks for the answer about his accent.
It's a weird accent, funny to listen to but very understandable for me (some accents are too thick for foreigners).

Richard giving up mentally? Can't judge that. He really looked tired in the third set and it was as if he couldn't be bothered anymore.

What is Richard doing about his fitness level? Both Nadal and Richard are still developping physically, I think it's not that easy to get a good, strong fitness level at that age.
I read something about Nadal and his fitness coach was saying that it's a tricky age. Nadal - apparently - is still not done growing and he's at an age when the hormones are raging. So, you've got to be very careful building up a good fitness level if you want to avoid unnecessary injuries.
With 1,86m and 81 kg, Nadal has been through a development process, which, according to his trainer, impedes an exaggerated work with weights. “His body is still growing and, now, he’s in full hormone’s change. It’s a very delicate moment and, because of that, we can’t take any risk.”
Following Forcade’s orientation, Nadal works with oriental techniques, lengthening, flexions and practices to don’t increase the volume of his muscles. Daily, he spends one hour doing lengthening to prevent himself from injuries and practices with a huge ball.

What is Richard doing about his fitness level?
I know they built (his coach, his physical trainer and him) an over 2/3 years plan/body of work for him to work on his fitness, paying attention to all the things you mentioned about hormones and growth. And he already worked on his fitness before and built himself a stronger body shape than he had before (he was even skinnier than he is now...) but they need to keep on working on this. And i don't know in what his preparation and training consists precisely.

But, believe me, Richard's problems are more mental than physical. Believe me...
