Puerta - is this guy up to no good...again?

I put that as delicately as I could so that I don't offend too many people (particularly his fans)...but is this guy off the rails again? Discuss.

I find the match fixing feasible...but yet I struggle to believe it. He has won masses of prize money in the last 6 weeks, got his ranking up to a level where he can enter every event possible, and he stands a good chance of continuing that success for the remainder of the year and finishing in the top 30. Why would he spoil all of that now?

However, the way I see it is that because he stayed so long in Monte Carlo people reckoned he couldn't put up a good fight against Melzer having spent the whole time up to the match travelling and finding his bearings. Is this so naive?

What is going on? The odds rose dramatically for a reason...and he lost rather easily.

Up to no good AGAIN? What did he do the first time?

For taking a banned substance. I really do not know if he took it on purpose, or if it was accidental. So anyways, I'm not going to judge him either way, but it certainly does taint someone in the public eye.

He took a medicine for asthma and didn't fill up the form needed, that's why he was suspended. I don't understand what this thread is about

Don't underestimate Melzer on clay? Jet-lag? Off day? Sucks against everyone not named Moya?

Throwing matches for the moola! Winner!

His version of past events are here in an excellent article Choupi translated from a French tennis magazine:

It's well worth a read.

this thread is going to get canned pretty soon anyway given the sensitive issue at hand, but suffice to say some of puerta's mates played the fool with the betting markets all over the world yesterday and are probably rolling in some decent cash as we speak as a result

It MUST be true.
Jürgen is a far-below-average player

it might not be true but the way the odds jumped suggests all is not 100% legit

Players tank matches in unimportant tournaments it happens and as I said in the scoring thread he could have saved the hassle and withdrawn from the tournament as he didn't need to play there as his ranking is fine at the moment.

but then his friends wouldnt make a lot of money by betting on Melzer.

At least he chose the right tournament and come on we know he had jetlag and some injury problems.
