Vamos Nico :bigclap:

I don't think its a good idea either...

He'll play doubles Monday at approximately 4:00 Houston time (which I believe is 5:00 Chile time).

Por favor, Nicolas, be muy muy careful!

I thought Houston is 1 hour behind the east coast....could be wrong. Chile and the east coast have the same time.

I checked timeanddate.com just in case.

When I checked a minute ago, it was 4:36 p.m. in Santiago and New York, and 3:36 p.m. in Houston.

And yes, indeed, Houston is one hour behind Santiago and the east coast of the US.

Everyone else out there will have to figure out their own...I'm surprised I got this one right because usually I get them wrong...lol!

Buena suerte to Nico! So nervous and worried about him playing again.

I'm going to post a good article from latercera.cl in the news section, but he seems like he's calm about it. I hope so...

Oh, its okay that he lost. He hasn't played in so long that I don't expect him to win for awhile. As long as he stays healthy...soy muy contento!

Two things:

1) He plays singles tonight at approximately 8:00 p.m. Chile/NY time, 7:00 p.m. Houston time.

2) Hey Fergie, can you change thread names? Can we change this to: Nico Returns in Houston!!!

I hope how positive I am feeling about him playing 3 sets yesterday is not just wishful thinking. I really feel he is going to be OK and maybe surprise himself and us. Remember, this is the guy who was 0-7 on hardcourts when he rolled into Athens and we all know the heart and body he gave there. I think that is why I put so much faith in him which might not always be fair on my part. I still am in awe when I think of what he did that week and those last 24 hours. I remember the goose bumps I got when he wraped that flag around himself and walked around the court. And I wasn't a fan yet! I don't know how all of you who followed him and support him did it. I would have been freaking out. I got the goose bumps for him, Chile and the game of tennis, in that order. I also remember being so sad that more wasn't made of what he and Fernando did in the media here in the States. So I never lose hope and faith because we all saw what he is made of.

Every time I watch his gold medal match, I get nervous for him, worry about him cuz he's so tired, and get thrilled all over again when he wins!

I wish he had the same kind of results when he isn't playing for his country. When he plays for Chile, he could beat Roger/Borg/McEnroe/Sampras combined! lol! He's all heart! But when he's only playing for himself, he obviously plays very hard, but he doesn't seem to have the same confidence in himself. I don't understand. Of course, I like that about him that he plays so hard for Chile...he's a good boy...even though, like Fergie said, he can be sometimes so... ;) (Like the match with Sargasian...lol!). He can be frustrating to watch sometimes, but no matter what, I love him and he will always be numero uno!!! :yeah:

When I was at Indian Wells, I met this guy from Spain who still plays in tournaments for men 70 and over. He was great. I asked him what he thought of Massu and he looked at me and started pointing to his head and said over and over "Chilean in the head, Chilean in the head!" He said Massu was crazy and always mad and started telling me a story from a year ago when he saw Massu play Nadal on the very court we were at. He said he could understand Massu of course and he was pacing the court ranting "I don't need this! I am going home and getting some rest!" The guy was cracking me up. But then I talked to a Latino woman later and all she could talk about was his heart. When something funny or a bit crazy happens, my daughter and I still walk around pointing at our heads saying "Chilean in the head, Chilean in the head." And that is the very reason I like Nicolas, all that emotion. Sure he has a good game and is easy on the eyes but he wears his feelings right out there and I like that. And that is why I don't like Federer. (Sorry to his fans).

Thanks Cobalt - sorry it was such a pain! :-( I know you're busy. For the next tournament, we can start a touranment thread for all of Nico's tournies this year, and Fergie or I can start it because both of us seem like we have more time to change it...at least I do...lol! :-)

That is such funny story Kathy!!! He did the same in the Sargasian match. He told Pato that he was going to retire, he didn't feel right on the court, and no one could understand how he felt. I was laughing, but at the same time I felt bad for him. And during Wimbledon, he keep yelling about the grass, adn hitting it with his racquet, and saying how he couldn't wait until he was playing on clay again (my spanish was better then...lol!).

BUENA SUERTE NICO - the match s/b starting soon.

Fergie o Alonso - since you are there in Chile, anything on TV or radio - is Nico okay? He's not hurt again, is he? I will be devastated if he got hurt. I don't care if he lost - I just want to make sure he's okay. Neither terra.cl or latercera.cl have said anything except that he lost.

so it doesnt says anything about injuries...maybe he just didnt do well...its a lot beter than if had got something physical....

best of luck for next tournament...VAMOS NICO! GARRA!!!!

This should put some of your minds at rest. Sorry I am at work and haven't the time to translate the whole article now, but here is a link to it, with one translated paragraph:-

http://www.tercera.cl/medio/articulo/0,0,3308_5832_125002611,00.html

Lo importante es que Nicolás no sintió problemas físicos. Sólo le falta agarrar horas de tenis, que fue lo que le pasó la cuenta en el partido de hoy (ayer)", comentó Claudio Ferrer, preparador físico de Massú.

"The important thing is that Nicholas did not feel and physical problems. It was only the lack of match practice/fitness and lack of recent match play that caused him to lose the match today so easily", commented Claudio Ferrer, his physical trainer.

Thanks for that Rosie! I just saw it myself!

That's all that matters! I was so worried about him last night, and was afraid to look this morning.

He's going to have problems winning for awhile, and he is aware of that. Of course, he says he knows it, but knowing him, he will get discouraged anyway.

Stay calm Nico...the results will come!

Kathy

I hope he is thinking that it isn't winning right now that is the main thing, it is being out there and staying healthy. If he continues, he wil start winning.

Vamos Nicolas ! :p
Hi Nicofan
I really like your nico group
:) bye

Glad you like it. :)

I wanted to have a site that had lots of pictures because I like looking at Nico...lol!...and something that if he happened to come across it on the internet, he would like it. I think he would like it if he saw it, but he would not like that I don't like Pato at all and that I like Horacio...lol! Also he would not like that I always say that I want him to find a nice girl and settle down rather than these girls he is dating... ;)

Contento tu lo quieres. :)

NicoFan, I love when you get a compliment on your site, you deserve it. And once again you show how nice you are to Nicolas. "Date?" I don't think the boy knows the meaning of the word myself. Wasn't his brother once quoted as saying Nicolas "has conquests"? You are too nice.

NicoFan
04-23-2005, 10:42 PM
Yeah, I guess "dating" is the wrong word...Jorge's description of Nico's relationships with women is much more accurate... :D

I still want him to find a "nice" girl and settle down though. I know there are a lot of nice girls in Chile and Argentina...he just needs to look at them and not these others. ;)

Not sure he'd think I was so nice to him when I complain about Pato and his team all the time...can't help myself, I don't think they are very good about helping him.

Kathy

You are just telling the truth about his group, they don't seem to have his best interest in mind. He needs to trust himself more or he can ask me what I think and I'll tell him.
