How could anyone want Nadal to loose on Sunday...

Wow I just read the thread regarding who will win, Fed or Nadal, and alot of people want Fed to win. I am shocked. The kid has a lot of heart, and barring Agassi, beating Johannson and Ljubicic is more tough than whom Roger beat on his side. Roger is a great player, but Nadal winning this title would be much better, and exciting for tennis than another typical straight sets thrashing by Roger.

Yeah but I'm concerned, I think Rafa's too cool to be hanging out with the likes of Chela. He should be hanging out with fellow cool tennis players, like Irakli Labadze and me when I make it onto the scene. Chela could spit in Rafa's drink

Chela is a lot cooler than you'll ever be :p . At the same time Moya is his mentor, so I don't think cool is an issue in this regard, then again you like Roddick, so your definition of cool, could be clouded.

I want Federer to win because I like his tennis.
I want Nadal to lose because I don't like his game.

If it were Ljubicic in the final instead I would probably become sentimental and want him to win once, but as long as the baseline bashers keep flowing in I'd rather see Federer break records.

lucashg
04-02-2005, 10:54 AM
I want Federer to win because:

A) He's my favorite player.
B) He's better than Nadal, so I also like his game way better though that's actually the main reason why he is my favorite, duh.
C) I don't want his winning streak in finals to be broken.
D) I want him to tie his H2H against Nadal.
E) I want him to get "revenge" over the guy that defeated him in Miami last year.

Well, that's basically why I want Federer to win. I like Nadal, he can win any title as long as he's not playing Federer in the final.

Most of people I know don't like Nadal. Maybe he was just overhyped in the last years and people are already bored with all the comments about his big heart and his incredible fighting spirit.
Of course he's extremely talented, but I find him rather irritating, he's "too much" for me, too cool, too extroverted, his grunting is pretty annoying...
Maybe it'll change in the next years, I felt the same about the young Agassi or the young Roddick.

(I'm not the only one thinking like this. I remember for example a match in Madrid I saw last year on German TV and even the commentator who is normally quite neutral criticized Nadal a lot for his attitude on the court. I don't think he's very popular here.)

If anything, Roger is the one who is overrated. Maybe Rafa is just overhyped because he is after all only 18. Would anybody be saying the same things if it wasn't Rafa who is playing Roger in the finals? Or would he be getting the same comments if he was older?

Hopefully, the Roger Express will get into a freak accident. *crosses fingers, arms, legs & eyes*

Don't get me wrong. I don't hate Roger or anything. I think he's a great player, which speaks for itself seeing as he is still the top player right now. However, as good as his game is, it's getting a bit boring. I say, time for new blood in the top fleet.

People are entitled to cheer for who they want. Why do you care about their reasons? Its jsut a fact that despite Federer's dominance, most people on here still like him and want him to continue the dominance for some reason.
I like both players so I dont really mind who wins. However I dont see Nadal winning at all, unless Federer is off his game.

I don't particularly like Nadal, and I have great respect for Roger, but I do think it would be good for the game if Nadal won tomorrow. He is young and fresh and Roger has won so much already. Having a fresh, new Masters' event winner could only be good in my opinion and would silence the people who are already saying "tennis boring - Federer always wins everything!". I still thing Roger will win though - probably fairly easily in straight sets.

Anyways, as for the topic at hand... I want Rafa to win and I LOL @ anybody who continues to call him "overrated". I call that "wishful thinking". That said, if he wins Miami I will eat my hat. There is a difference between wanting something ot happen and thinking that it will ;)

Don't underestimate the power of the capris to draw in HATAS. Rafa already has HATAS (boohoo, he's overrated, boohoo, waaaahhhh, he's better than the young player I lke that nobody cares about because they are ranked 1290382th, boooo, waaahhh)

Wow. Most of the people you know think Nadal is overhyped and irritating? And you don't like him because he's cool and outgoing? You don't think he's very popular in Spain or Germany?

That's interesting.

I want Federer to win because he clearly has the most talent and is the better player. I always want the best athletes to win, it's somehow not right when somebody with overwhelming talent losses to somebody not as talented. I want the best to win, no matter who it is.
