Chiefs to cover +7.5 against the canes who have hit a rough patch the last 2 weeks. Chiefs have the dominance in the forwards and have the return of superstar back Sitiveni Sivivatu after a long injury layoff

Traditionally these matches always are close and with chief's strong defense coupled with the weeks rest last week this is a value play

also going to have a nibble at them at the ML which pays $3.30

i'm taking the brumbies to cover the -1.5 start against the blues - blues are missing 3 key players through suspension and the coach has dropped an out of form spencer to the bench

giteau is back and am still waiting to hear whether larkham will play - regardless brumbies to win this comfortably

brumbies have a bit of work to do in the second half - they continue to mess up plays when they put some phases together

sparkus8
04-02-2005, 07:28 AM
Geez the Brumbies look a shadow of their former selves. How many ordinary passes have they thrown, everything seems to be hitting the deck.

If they can hold onto the ball for an extended period they might be a show in the second half, if not they have absolutely no hope and will probably get a decent score run up on them.

Finns4
04-09-2005, 06:59 AM
im not bettin but id take 19.5 start for cats, however watchin that game last week the blue did play really well, but if the brumbies put ball 2 hand it could of been a much different story, CATS have had the bye what that usually doesnt make a difference

Nice work BG. I took chiefs to score with a try, they have done it in the past 3 matches.

I also to the Bulls to win it @ $51-1 thought id have a go, I really think they can do it. Im pounding the bulls Ml tonight ut 1.27 is kinda low, so thinkin 10.5 but reds are unpredictable

bad gambler
04-15-2005, 10:38 AM
i watched the bulls take apart the crusaders in the second half last week - they play at the same level it will be goodnight reds, 10.5 looks thin as is

sparkus8
04-15-2005, 11:43 AM
Agree with you both, can't see the Reds keeping it close if the Bulls play like they did last week. The Reds are flat out ordinary and the only way they keep this close is if Latham plays out of his skin.

I've got the Bulls -4.5 in the first half, so here's hoping the Reds continue their slow starts to their games.

What about tonight? I really dont like the blues i think they are grossly overrated. I Mights take Sharks +17.

Any thoughts on Brumbies V Tahs? Im liking Tahs +3.5 as Brumbies have some key injuries in Fava and Mortlock. I want to play points under but cant find any lines. Should be a penalty goal kicking fest.

bad gambler
04-16-2005, 03:46 AM
i agree finns, beginning of the season I was on the blues bandwagon but am most definitely off it

however having seen highlights of the sharks' performance against the chiefs last week, where their back three just terrorised the sharks defence you got to suspect blues, with the return of atiga will do the same. Also Muliani is starting fullback finally where his damaging counterattacking runs are more effective than the wing

really tough one to call re: the spread but will check the weather before I make a play i think

Finns4
04-16-2005, 04:17 AM
Yeah Fait call BG, looking over the Sharks results they are worst team on D. Blues +13 margin @ 1.45 is lame. 1.90 @ +16 is alot better.

For some reason though the Blues get me worried, when playing crap teams. Eg Cats last weekend won me money with +19, and the the sharks seem better on paper.

Im gonna go nicely on -16.5 and hope they smash them.

Im on the bulls the next 2 games no matter what!

bad gambler
04-16-2005, 04:30 AM

i considered that scenario but to be honest the blues defense is nothing to write home about, the leak points (ok against the brumbies an exception) as their attitude has always been win by outscoring the opposition as opposed to defending well

i can see sharks pinching at least 2 tries, which IMO should do the trick :)

Top win by the Tahs!! Go you good things!

Anybody have any thoughts on the Crusaders v Stormers game later tonight. I am leaning to the Crusaders purely because of what I saw from the Stormers last weekend against the Reds. If they ply like that again it wont even be close.

bad gambler
04-16-2005, 12:34 PM
and on to the late game tonight

I'm predicting a backlash by the crusaders in a big way against a very poor stormers team who are missing their key hit man Schalk Burger. Stormers were terrible last week against the Reds and if they commit the same number of handling errors as they did last week crusaders will have a field say and win by 30+

so i'm playing the crusaders to cover -6.5

Right Round 9 of super 12, means more $$$$:

Friday night begins with two in form NZ teams, Hurricanes v Highlanders.

I'm taking the canes to cover -4 at home tonight. Both teams have come off a bye so should be fresh. For me, both teams have classy backlines but where it will be won tonight is in the forwards and more particularly with the set plays especially the lineouts. This is where it is interesting as I believe the canes have the next all black line out jumper ross kennedy who has been in spectacular form this year. His matchup with the other young gun James Ryan will be an interesting one. The way the canes used Kennedy is very smart, they throw to him basically 85% of the time, and start a running maul immediately and then whilst the opposition bring men to counter the rolling maul, hit them with their speedy backs in Umaga and Nonu.

Should be a close contest but home ground advanatge should see canes through.

sparkus8
04-22-2005, 05:12 AM
I'm with you BG, I am pretty sure the Canes back line is capable of producing a lot more in attack than the Highlanders and should get home by around 10 or so points.

I really like the look of Conrad Smith - his ability to get over the advantage line is amazing and I also think Lome Fa'atau will play a big part in the game tonight - he is an absolute speed machine!

Bugger, the canes were terrible last night against a very disciplined HIghlandersa outfit.....

ON to Saturday's card.

I'm confident about this play, will accept the juice and take crusaders to cover -24.5 against the pitful cats at home. Although there is word that carter will be rested (replaced by merhtens, not a bad replacement!), I can see the crusdars rack up 50+ easily against a team who can barely put a team on the park given the number of injuries they have in their squad.

Lets roll

Stade Français v Biarritz

Taking Biarritz to cover the -2.5 spread away from home (although not really!)

Biarritz have too much class, with french captain Dimitri Yachvilli calling the shots at scrum half. In fact I will go one step further and say this mob will win the whole thing as they have the most outstanding forawrd pack in the competition with the best flanker in the world betson.

BUt what makes me comfortable with this play is the fact that Stade Français are having fly half problems given David Skrela will be out with an injury, therefore all organisation will rest on their classy no 9 pichot.

good luck!
