RODDICK COVER-UP

Tennis star Andy Roddick is being kept on a short leash by Reebok. He can't be caught on camera wearing anything but Reebok sportswear - or he risks losing his contract. But Thursday night, Roddick wore a Lacoste shirt to the Ocean Drive Nasdaq-100 party on exclusive Fisher Island, not realizing that there would be TV cameras. Poor Roddick "freaked out and hid" said a witness. He "demanded a black piece of tape [to hide the Lacoste logo]... but they could only find a band-aid. So he walked the red carpet with the band-aid on his shirt, and told all the reporters that it was to show his support to tsunami Relief."

Band-aid always comes to rescue ;)

The many uses of band-aid. They should use it in their next commercial.

Now that I think about it, he should've gone macho and taken his shirt off.

It's safe, he probably wears an undershirt, and it's smart... :)

That's a cute pic of the two of them, though.

Oh, the New York Post, that bastion of accurate news reporting. Shouldn't Flip and Paris Hilton be engaged right about now?

Andy covered up that Lacoste logo out of respect for his Reebok contract, not out of fear of losing it. The contract expires on March 31st and he may be switching companies anyway, so give him credit for honoring his current contract until the last possible moment (and I suspect that's why we haven't heard anything about his new contract, Reebok must have a gag order clause). Look for a press release after April 1st and perhaps a whole new company by the time he shows up for Houston.

He might start a new trend. Pink shirts step aside, it's time for the band aid look.

He knew very well not to wear Lacoste.

How is this a cover up? Seriously, people, you're grasping for straws.

Yeah, I get it. It's just corny that's all. No harm intended.

People seem to look for reasons to hate the Duck, though.

And as Carlito says - That's not cool !

Wow not only does a band-aid heal cuts it saves careers/endorsements. What's next for the band-aid?

He's high-profile, good-looking and dates Hollywood starlets so he's bound to make the NY Post. Relax people. This is not meant to spur on hate for Andy! If you don't find his resourcefulness amusing then ignore it.

-IF- this is actually true..........

1] I'd be shocked if he didnt anticipate paparazzi, If i was paid as much as he is to wear stuff, I wouldn't even wear pyjamas wihtout the right label :)
2] Maybe its some negotiating ploy...i.e. look-at-me-not-wanting-to-wear-ur-clothes,-i-swear-ill-get-another-sponsor,-look-im-half-way-there-already. lol :)

Your mouth in God's ear. I sincerely hope he ditches Reebok. He's had terrible clothing forever.

Lacoste rocks. I would love it if he went with Lacoste.

wow...no matter what the reason, it's funny that he's wearing a band-aid and i think he should stay with reebok. i mean, the clothes aren't that bad and it's kind of unique. i always think its funny watching tournaments where 3 or 4 guys show up with the same adidas or nike shirt, with reebok he really doesn't have to worry because not many guys wear it.

Though he looks ridiculously cute with Kim, they should be together :hearts:

And as for his Reebok contract... I really hope he signs with them again, I love their clothes. I wouldn't stand Andy wearing Nike or Adidas ugh.

:lick: he should've done so indeed :lick:

but it does bother me a bit that he lies about something like this.. saying you're supporting a good cause just because you don't have any other excuse for wearing a band aid on your clothes is not very.. I dunno I wouldn't do it

but it's also true that a person can't just wear what they want - if he was wearing Lacoste on court I'd understand him doing sth like this.. but off the court?? it shows what a shitty world this has become

It looks to me as if the whole "bandaid" story is linked to the failing Roddick-Reebok negotiations. Did Andy do it in resentment that the negotiations were not going well or was he just dumb? Whose were the lawyers who sprung into action to precipitate the "cover-up"? From all reports, Roddick was very agitated, to say the least, and I expect that the bandaid coverup was done in panic. The poor guy is still pretty immature. There's a good story here somewhere but I wonder if it will ever come out.

I understood he was under contract to Reebok until May 1. So better keep those bandaids handy. :)
