Go and do your 3rd 20 straight wins streak Federer! the 3rd in only 9 months, how about that?

Not to mention win 4 straight titles for the 3rd time in 9 months!

HE had 23 straight wins summer 2004, 27 straight wins from US open to AO and now +30 straight wins?

It will be Henman.

7-5, 5-3

Where's jez?

Well done, Tiger Tim.

I am glad he is facing Henman, he needs to fix the past. His record against players like Henman and Nalbandian is embaressing and I am a little obsessed for him to turn every bad record against any player around like he did against Ferrero, Hewitt, Agassi and so on.

He's sick? Oh no, I hope he gets better as soon as possible. That might be a reason for the struggling he's been having the last two matches. Particularly, I didn't think Zabaleta and Ancic played that well to push Federer so far, most likely the three of them played bad and Ancic and Zabaleta took the advantage when given to win a set and so the same about Roger finishing both matches (could have gone either way, both of them).

I can't find anywhere anything about the best win streaks on the ATP tour. Anyone have any info on this? I think Muster and Sampras are up there.

Wow. Another close battle. When was the last time Federer was forced to go the distance in consecutive best of 3 set matches?

That's not fair to Zabaleta . . . he played an awesome match last night and to discount and say that it was because Fed was sick is not right. He pushed him hard . . . and Fed did not like it in the least bit. It was good tennis . . . I didn't see the Ancic match so I can't comment.

Universe Man, from pure memory, I remember that Muster holds the record with 35 straight wins. It was during his clay-court season scourge in 1995. Sampras, Courier, and Agassi are all up there. I believe, and here is where memory starts to fuzz away, Sampras is number two with 29. Agassi had 26 during 1995, as well.

This is simply mind-boggling. How many players have ever done this?

zabaleta played well especially towards the end of the second set and the beginning of the 3rd and he deserves credit no doubt but fed also played quite shitty for a bit, he looked very strange, it was surprising.

I dare to differ. Honestly, as I said, my impression was that none of them played particularly well, they got guts and luck to win the decisive points (Zabaleta and Ancic to take each a set and Federer to finish the matches), and it could have gone either way. I'm not discrediting Zabaleta, he did play quite a few amazing points, but was inconsistent and you just have to agree that Federer was not on his best day, and it wasn't because Zabaleta started to play great tennis, but it was obvious since the beginning. I would say the same about today's match against Ancic. Federer made amounts of unusual unforced errors mainly on his backhand side against Zabaleta and today not only his backhand seemed somehow inconsistent, he missed some shots with his forehand that he usually wouldn't.

I must agree. Dunno if Fed's sick or whatever but there were really surprizing UEs from him in both matches. But maybe he's getting sick of winning all the time? ;) Just kidding.

He shanked a lot of balls against Zabaleta but Zabaleta put the pressure on Fed going for big shots. Zabaleta also fought all the way even when Federer was outclassing him and serving for the match at 5-3.
