I still don't quite understand this. Can someone enlighten me please? :p ;)

It adds up total games and the handicap gives more games to the person and subtracts that number of games from the favorite.... it's done to the total games after the match is over

For example in this match the handicap is 6. So if you bet on Roger, you would subtract 6 games from his total. If you bet on Roger to win and Roger won 6-4 6-4, you would still lose your bet. Similarly, if you had bet on Mario and Mario had lost 6-4 6-4, you would win, because 6 games would be added to his total (so instead of 12-8 in games it would really be counted as 12-14, hence why Mario would win the BET even if he lost the match)

I really shouldn't have tried to explain this....I'm sure there's someone who would do a much much better job... did that help at all? :awww:

Then why is it Federer - 6 or Tie + 6 or Ancic + 6?

Isn't Federer - 6 and Ancic + 6 the same thing?

Sorry, I just saw this now.... no, it's not the same thing. Because one, you're picking Ancic to win and the other you're picking Federer to win. If you pick Federer -6, you are saying that even if you subtract 6 games from Roger's total, he will STILL win. If you pick Ancic +6, you are saying that if you ADD 6 games to Ancic's total, he wins (whether he wins the match or not). So you see from the result, because the score was 6-3 4-6 6-4, that adds up to total games:

Federer: 16
Ancic: 13

so the difference was only 3 games, not 6. So it obviously wasn't a tie b/c it doesn't come out the same when you add 6 to Ancic, and Roger doesn't win because when you subtract 6 he only has 10, which is obviously less than 13. So Mario +6 wins because when you add 6, it's Federer 16 and Ancic 19 so that would win, even though Ancic lost the MATCH, he wins this handicap.

Hope this helps
