After the amazing Fed-Hewitt rally last week I was wondering which other great rallies there have been. Anyone got any memories of some classics?

Sampras vs Agassi 1995 US Open final- 5-4 Agassi serving, Advantage Sampras- set point.

They start rallying, Agassi hitting ferocious inside out forehands into Pete's backhand. Pete defends well, returning them and both players start to run each other side to side with crosscourt forehands. Sampras hits an angled forehand wide to Agassi's forehand which Agassi can retrieve only to hit it into Sampras' hitting zone leaving the whole left court open. Sampras hits a backhand crosscourt winner that Agassi could not touch: game, first set Sampras 6-4 :woohoo:

They made a tv commercial for Nike based on that point later too with Sampras and Agassi hitting balls back and forth until they both have long white beards.

more recently, that point between Hewitt and Gaudio at Masters...Gaudio had Hewitt running everywhere, in for drops, back for lobs, and eventually Hewitt crushes a clean winner down the line after chasing down a lob to the far corner of the court, then high fives someone in the crowd :)

he said it took him about the next 6 points to get his breath back

A great point that came about entirely because Gaudio played a simple putaway volley with as much enthusiasm as my goldfish would, and tapped it into court so that it sat up for Hewitt to run it down.

I gotta say this 45 hit rally involving Hewitt sounds like a doozy. I haven't seen it yet, but should be good stuff! Lleyton is always one of the more reliable players at getting balls back! I'm sure he is up there in some of the more memorable rallies, and will have a long history of them in his career by the time it's over.

Robredo is pretty good himself. That's why they call him "The Magician" in French circles. He can high spin lob out of many dangerous spots and keep himself in the point.

That Heineken web site is great.

I saw the Agassi - Sampras point and it was worth the two minute wait on 56K. Even though the flash screen is small, the point is awesome.

That point in Hewitt v Gaudio was insane! Better than the Hewitt-Federer one imo.

One point that was awesome but had a bit of an anti-climatic ending because Hewitt missed the final shot was in the Hewitt v Nalbandian quarter final match at the AO. It was in the last set and I think the the scores were 5-all. Nalbandian has Hewitt running all over the place and then finally hits a drop shot to Hewitt's backhand side. Hewitt runs it down, makes a great angled backhand crosscourt slice drop shot. Nalbandian anticipates it beautifully and somehow manages to hit it around the net. Hewitt unbelievable scampers from the left hand side of the net to the right hand side of the back of the court hitting the ball which is behind him with a forehand cross court which just misses the line. The crowd looked ready to go nuts!!

I reckon we would see some rediculous rallies between Hewitt and Coria if they played each other a couple times. It's dissappointing that they haven't met in the last couple of years. Hopefully they meet sometime this year. Doesn't matter which surface it's on. We'd see a great battle.
