Seeing as there are so many injuries going on, I for one can hardly keep up with who is injured or why. Maybe it is time to gather up all the wounded warriors of the ATP:

Lleyton Hewitt- toes
Andy Roddick- wrist
Mark Philippoussis- torn ankle ligament
Joachim Johansson- shoulder(?)
Andre Agassi- swollen toe

Any more that I have missed?

Is it just me or does it seem that more players get injured at Miami than at any other tournament?

Seems so, doesn't it? The fifth slam is hazardous to one's health :tape:

 you guys are unfairly pissing on Miami. but it's funny ;)

Bob Larson has a whole section on his website dedicated to keeping track of injuries. it's quite scary to read.

James Blake- severe cramping in thighs (although GWH will nail me for suggesting a cramp is an injury :p )

Thanks for the list TC, although some are slightly outdated plus I don't see Hewitt, Roddick, Mark and Tommy there

Wonder if Robredo will need surgery?

Wonder if Robredo will need surgery?

quite possible...but he's getting assessed by doctors in Barcelona at the moment, so they'll decide what needs to be done I guess...

Players are so weak these days, I mean its the fifth slam, I would be on court trying to win until I had to be carried out by paramedics.

Yes, the 5th Slam oozes prestige and these players haven't shown the warrior spirit that is required for the 5th Slam.

*BUMP*

Following some recent withdrawals from the Australian Open I think it is time to update the players who are sidelined due to injury:

Andre Agassi- back injury.

Rafael Nadal- lack of fitness/ pain from adjusting into insoles, recently had knee and foot problems.

Marat Safin- ongoing knee injury.

Anybody else that I forgot to mention?

Andre is out of AO because he twisted his ankle playing racquetball. His back/hip problem is supposed to be much better.

Anybody else that I forgot to mention?

Anybody remembers Martin Verkerk (shoulder and Pfeiffer's disease) and Sjeng Schalken (out since the best part of two seasons with various problems)?

Perhaps the two threads can be merged?

With so many injuries happening so early in the season and people always wondering what happened to whom, I thought perhaps we could use this thread to keep track of who's injured, who's sick, who's faking ;), and who's not showing up for what.

Wishing good health to everyone this year.

warm-up/AO casualities:

Rafael Nadal (leg) - A leg injury forced the French Open champion to pull out of the Sydney International, the last major warm-up tournament before the Australian Open. Nadal had felt pain in his right inner thigh and said he did not want to risk any more damage with the first grand slam of 2007 less than a week away.

Nikolay Davydenko (foot) - In danger of missing the Australian Open after suffering a possible stress fracture in his right foot. He will undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of damage and whether he can play in the first grand slam of the year.

David Nalbandian (knee)- A knee problem could keep him out of the Australian Open after he withdrew from the invitational Kooyong Classic this week.

Marcos Baghdatis (ankle) - Suffered an injury scare when he twisted his ankle in Sydney during his match against Carlos Moya. He, however, said the pain has subsided and will play at the Open.

Lleyton Hewitt (calf) - The former U.S. Open and Wimbledon champion's build-up has been hampered by a calf strain, which forced him to pull out of the Sydney International.

Dmitry Tursunov (wrist) - Pulled out of the Sydney International before his first match, injuring his wrist during warm-up.

Tim Henman (knee) - The British number two is out of the Australian Open after aggravating a knee injury while practising before Christmas.

Juergen Melzer (illness) - Withdrew from Sydney before his semi-final against James Blake with a viral illness.

Nicolas Kiefer (wrist) - Added his name to the Australian Open absentee list after failing to recover from a wrist injury.

Paradorn Srichaphan (wrist) - Retired from the Sydney International this week with a wrist problem.

Mark Philippoussis (knee) - The former U.S. Open and Wimbledon finalist has been ruled out of this month's grand slam after a scan revealed he had torn knee cartilage in his Hopman Cup match against France.

Thanks for the update Tangerine :wavey:
