You know, before you ask for a Forum, you should at least start a thread. So, here you go. Karol Beck is having a good year and moving up the rankings. Discuss.

Neil Sedaka is apparently a huge fan.

Oh Karol (By Neil Sedaka, with slight changes by Yonge)

Oh! Karol, I am but a fool,
Darling I love you tho' you treat me cruel,
You hurt me and you made me cry
But if you leave me I will surely die.

Darling there will never be another
Cause I love you so,
don't ever leave me,
Say you'll never go
I will always want you for my sweetheart
No matter what you do
Oh! Karol, I'm so in love with you.

Oh, Karol...

03-19-2005, 11:38 PM
Okay this is just wrong on so many levels. Karol Beck has a thread and none of his fans are posting in it? I'm not even a fan and I've posted here twice.

From the Sunrise Challenger...

Karol Beck/Jaroslav Levinsky def Ashley Fisher/Tripp Phillips 6-1, 6-2.

Gambill/Flip v Beck/Levinsky 6-3, 1-6, 2-1.

I'll put the final result on my homepage in about 30 minutes when the match is over (but I'm not posting in the Sunrise thread anymore because of that rude German girl).

03-20-2005, 01:08 AM
This week at the Sunrise Challenger:

1r: Beck def. Ginepri 6-4 1-6 6-1
2r: Beck def. Gambill 6-3 6-3
QF: Beck def. Andreev 6-1 6-0  :worship:
SF: Beck def. Zib 6-3 6-2
F: Beck vs. Sanguinetti

Beck/Levinsky def. Haggard/Koenig 6-3 4-6 6-3
Beck/Levinsky def. Fisher/Phillips 6-1 6-2
Gambill/Philippoussis def. Beck/Levinsky 6-3 1-6 7-6(2)

03-20-2005, 01:11 AM
Good luck in the final, Karol! :bounce:

2005 Sunrise Champion: Karol Beck :D

Karol Beck def. Davide Sanguinetti 6-2 6-2 :worship:

He had a touch first round but after that he only lost 16 games in four matches :D

03-20-2005, 08:07 PM
Hopefully this win will propel him to do well in Miami :D

03-20-2005, 08:17 PM
I emailed the tournament for photos of Karol  especially for ones of him with the trophy.

hopefully they'll post some on the website or send me some, but I wouldn't bet on it ;)

03-21-2005, 12:55 AM
I got a reply from the marketing director that I emailed!

nice win huh? he said he was a little tired after the match - but now ready for nasdaq, and hopes to break top 30 this year. I will post at least one action shot of Beck later today and within a few days a photo gallery will be available with all-new photos from the 2005 event. Please check back!

really nice of him to email me back! so there will be pictures of him for our viewing pleasure soon! and the news directly from Karol's mouth is even more valuable :D

03-21-2005, 02:29 AM
Awww, that's nice the tournament director wrote back!

Karol must have more fans! He's is so amiable!

I remember during a match of his at LA last year, the Center Court announcer during the warmup said Beck was from Czech Republic. Beck hesitated, finished warming up that point, and gave a huge silly smile and yelled "Slovakia!" The announcer apologized but I don't think the specatators were really paying attn.

Speaking of photos, I have a bunch from IW. Really, I took more of him than anyone else, I have no idea why. ;)

03-21-2005, 05:33 PM
KBF, this must be some type of subliminal magic you have. I think I'm becoming a Karol Beck fan too! His win in Sunrise this week was impressive considering that he stayed in the Doubles and he had to play so many matches on Friday and Saturday. And Sanguinetti wakes up once a year and causes trouble for someone. It would be excellent to see him carry this on into Miami this week (as long as he doesn't play JMG, Robby, or Hasi....:D).

I have a feeling that once more people get a chance to see him, he will have a lot more fans. I'm sure he already has a lot, they probably just don't post here

You should post some of them, if you want. I'm sure we'd like to see them

It's not me, it's Karol! Who could NOT like him? I just don't understand how that could occur

I think that with his win today, Karol will be more than ready for Miami. It would be nice if someday soon he could be seeded at these big events, he's usually very unlucky and draws a top seed really early. Or gets a dangerous player. I've never seen him face a wildcard before! (Other than Ginepri, but he was only a WC because of his late entry)

From the Sunrise website:

"Karol Beck showed up at the Pro Tennis World Open final ready to play – and the backboard-consistency of Davide Sanguinetti eventually fell apart as Beck took the singles title in a clean 6-2 6-2 victory. After the match, 42-ranked Beck said he started the match feeling a little tired from playing two semi-final matches on Saturday – but dug deep to bring out some of his best shots, including a barrage of brutal backhand winners. With a string of tough matches behind him, Beck said he now feels ready to tackle the Nasdaq-100 Open with fresh confidence. Beck felt his toughest match of the week was his first-round encounter with Robby Ginepri, which he won 6-4 1-6 6-1. He also eliminated Jan-Michael Gambill and Igor Andreev before his final win over Sanguinetti.

In 2004, Beck won a personal-best 22 matches on the ATP circuit, and had his best year in the Grand Slams, reaching the 2nd round at Australian Open, 3rd round at Wimbledon and the 4th round at the US Open, all for the first time. After his first-time victory at Pro Tennis World Open, Beck said, "It’s a good win, important win. I hope to stay in the top 50, maybe even break into top 30 this year."

Meanwhile Mark Philippoussis pulled out of the tournament after suffering a back injury in a doubles semi-final match played Saturday evening. The doubles trophy was awarded on Center Court to Rick Leach/Travis Parrott, who played a spirited exhibition match for the crowd against Tripp Phillips and Jaroslav Levinsky. Earlier in the tournament, Phillips had played with partner Ashley Fisher; and Levinsky had paired with Karol Beck. Philippoussis is entered in the Nasdaq-100 Open as a wild card but did not immediately indicate whether the injury would prevent him from playing.

The crowd of 2,500+ enjoyed a full afternoon of world-class tennis and near-perfect weather, all part of a successful second year of the Super Challenger - and its inaugural year at the Sunrise Tennis Club. We hope you’ll join us next year for the Pro Tennis World Open – the unique ATP hard-court event always scheduled between Indian Wells and Key Biscayne."

Still no photos though :crying2:

Beck stays fresh, tops Sanguinetti

Slovak easily wins final in Sunrise

By Ed Gray

SUNRISE · Karol Beck admitted he felt tired before Sunday afternoon's Pro Tennis World Open's championship match, so he could just imagine how his opponent felt.

Just in case the well-traveled 32-year-old legs of Davide Sanguinetti still had some spring in them after fighting off a pair of seeded-players to reach the final of the ATP Challenger, the 23-year-old Beck developed a strategy to tire them out.

"I was quite tired, so I wanted to play much to his forehand," said Beck, the No. 3 seed in the $100,000 tune-up for this week's Nasdaq-100 at Key Biscayne. "But I also played good backhand to make him run.

"I played good, [hitting] the forehand and backhand at the right time. It was a good match for me. I didn't give him many chances. I'm happy I finished it like I did."

Beck proved to be the fresher and extremely more effective player at the Sunrise Tennis Center, dashing the title hopes of the resurgent Sanguinetti 6-2, 6-2.

"I was thinking it was going to be much tougher because I saw him play a few matches, but I played very good today," Beck said. "I didn't give him many chances to turn the match."

Sanguinetti, who reached the final by defeating Christophe Rochus in Saturday's semifinal round after eliminating No. 1 seed Dominik Hrbaty and No. 7 Alberto Martin on Friday, was never in the match after losing his second serve in the first set.

Beck peppered the court to keep the veteran winner of two ATP Tour titles on the run, which resulted a rash of unforced errors and erratic returns.

"I was very determined before the match," said the victorious Beck, a native of Slovakia. "I knew this was the last match and I put everything into the final."

After rolling to a 6-2 first-set victory, Beck broke Sanguinetti's first two serves in the second set to go up 4-0 before prevailing again 6-2.

"He just played better than me today, no other comment," said a disappointed Sanguinetti, who earned $8,480 for his second-place finish. "He played everything better than me."

Beck was award winner's trophy, a check for $14,400 and the Key to the City of Sunrise.

He is hoping for another benefit of his dominant victory.

"I hope I'm going to get [a] first-time Top 40 [ranking]," said Beck, who entered the tournament ranked 42nd. "I feel confident after this tournament, I'm going to take one day rest and begin preparation.

"It was good preparation for the Nasdaq."

Sanguinetti and Beck had met each other only once prior, that being the last year's Round of 32 at Bratislava.

Beck prevailed in three sets by winning tie-breakers in the final two sets.

Rick Leach and Travis Parrott were awarded the doubles title when Mark Phlippoussis, who had teamed with Jan-Michael Gambill, was forced to withdraw before the match with a muscle pull.

Beck captures Sunrise event

From Herald Staff

Karol Beck wasted little time Sunday afternoon, needing just 58 minutes to defeat Italy's Davide Sanguinetti 6-2, 6-2 to win the championship at the Pro Tennis World Open at the Sunrise Tennis Center.

''I felt a little bit tired but I knew it was my last match of the tournament,'' Beck said. ``I put everything in to it to win.''

The 22-year-old came into the final as the No. 36-ranked player in the world and a heavy favorite after dropping just one set in his four previous tournament matches.

Beck had six aces and broke Sanguinetti's serve four times en route to the victory.

''He just played everything better than me today,'' a disgusted Sanguinetti said. ``I can't tell you anything more than that.''

A crowd of approximately 300 rallied behind Sanguinetti in the second set.

''He was frustrated because I was playing really well,'' Beck said of Sanguinetti throwing his racket after losing two straight long rallies.

finally a photo ;)

another article from the sun-sentinal about Karol's SF win :)

Beck blanks Zib, eyes final

Win sets up match with Sanguinetti

By Ed Gray
Special correspondent
Posted March 20 2005

SUNRISE · The drive to Key Biscayne will be a pleasant one for the winner of this afternoon's title match of the $100,000 Pro Tennis World Open, fueled by a giant boost of confidence heading into this week's Nasdaq-100

Karol Beck also will have a personal milestone riding on his championship clash with Davide Sanguinetti at the Sunrise Tennis Center.

"If I win it's good for confidence, it's good for Nasdaq," said Beck, 23. "If I win, I'll get another 65 points and move closer to being under the top 40 for the first time. So it's good motivation."

Beck, who began the tournament at No. 42, certainly seemed to be motivated during his semifinal match against Tomas Zib on Saturday, advancing to the final with an overpowering 6-3, 6-2 victory. The native of the Slovak Republic virtually handcuffed his unseeded opponent with a strong service game that included 12 aces.

"He was serving much better than me. His serve was helping him a lot. It was probably the main reason it made it easy for him to beat me today," said Zib, who was constantly put on the defensive by the power serving of his opponent.

As difficult as his serve was to handle, Beck's key to victory may well have been his strategy to put Zib's backhand to the test.

"He's not that good with his backhand and I was confident in my backhand, that's why I was playing cross court and also the forehand down the line," said Beck, whose career-best ATP finish was a second at St. Petersburg, where he lost to Mikhail Youzhny to finish his 2004 season.

Beck rarely strayed from the baseline while peppering Zib with cross-court backhands and forehands down the line.

"I feel good from the baseline, so that's why I think I stay on the baseline," Beck said. "I'm not a serve-and-volley player so I stay on the baseline."

funny that he stays at the baseline, but he's much better on fast surfaces.

Here's a Miami Herald article about his two match victory on Friday :)

Beck makes semis

Karol Beck ran into little trouble Friday as the Slovak scored two wins en route to today's semifinals at the 2005 Pro Tennis World Open at the Sunrise Tennis Center.

Beck first knocked off American Jan-Michael Gambill before defeating Igor Andreev of Russia.

''I was playing a very good match. I didn't give him any chances,'' said Beck, ranked 36th in the world. ``I was playing the best tennis I've played in the past 10 days.''

In the earlier match, Beck defeated Gambill in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

Although he was expecting a tougher match in the evening, that was not the case as Beck ceded only one game to Andreev, winning 6-1, 6-0.

''I was very surprised by how I did because I don't really like playing in the evening,'' said Beck, who will face Tomas Zib of the Czech Republic today. ``I know Tomas and he knows me. He's in good shape right now. He's playing good, he's had a good year. It should be tough, but I'm looking forward to it.''

03-21-2005, 05:56 PM
and finally (I promise) an article about his win over Ginepri from the Miami Herald :)

Beck turns back Ginepri

Special to the Herald

Karol Beck of Slovakia posted a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 win against American Robby Ginepri Wednesday night in the first round of the 2005 Pro Tennis World Open at Sunrise Tennis Center.

''I played better and did not make any mistakes like I did in the second set,'' said Beck, who is ranked 42nd in the world, of the final set.

Beck broke Ginepri's serve to go ahead 5-4 in the first set. One game later, Beck took the set after tapping a soft shot out of Ginepri's reach.

Ginepri stormed back in the second set by winning five-straight games, including three in which he held Beck at love. Ginepri finished out the set 6-1.

''I lost my first service game in the second set, and I was pretty upset,'' Beck said. ``Then, I lost the next four games. At the end of the set I was trying to concentrate more, and I am happy that I did in the third.''

Beck found his groove as he roared back in the final set, playing faultless tennis. Beck sealed the victory with an ace.

''I was starting to play better, making no mistakes,'' Beck said.

Uploaded the rest of the Karol photos. :)

The Sunrise website updated with pictures but none of Karol

03-24-2005, 06:53 AM
Karol plays the second night match on stadium court tomorrow vs. Nicolas Lapentti :worship:

The only two times that they've played, Lapentti won... but they were really tight matches AND they were both two years ago... Karol is a much better player now!

Vamos Karol!

03-25-2005, 02:50 AM
Nicolas Lapentti def. Karol Beck 6-1 7-6(8) :crying2:

Karol said he was tired, so maybe that's why. He saved 5 match points in the tiebreak before losing, so he fought hard at least. His trip to the top 30 is going to take a long time with these kinds of results. He's in the top 40 now but might not stay there very long

Bad results in Indian Wells and Miami. I'm very disappointed, but hopefully his results will turn around soon. I was so encouraged by the great run in Sunrise... but

Next up is the clay season, by far Karol's worse surface. But hopefully he'll win some matches and just play better than he did in Indian Wells and Miami. Good luck Karol

Meanwhile I'll try to look for some new pictures of him. Hopefully the Sunrise site will update with some soon.

03-25-2005, 02:52 AM
Tough loss, but it happens. Nico seemed to be playing reasonably well, and Karol had a bad night.

03-25-2005, 04:22 AM
Yeah, the unfortunate thing is that Karol seems to be having quite a few of those lately :(

bad gambler
03-25-2005, 04:25 AM
he'll bounce back - just a minor speed hump

03-25-2005, 05:41 AM
Hopefully since he's out of singles he will play doubles. :)

bad gambler
03-25-2005, 05:43 AM
does he have a partner lined up?

03-25-2005, 07:35 PM
I really don't know, he never has a permanent partner, but he plays with other Slovakians a lot.

Also he has played with Jaroslav Levinsky a lot in the past, who is a very good doubles player. They made the semifinals of Sunrise... so maybe they will partner together here :)

03-26-2005, 03:22 AM
He's not playing doubles  I guess he just wanted to get the heck out of Dodge.

03-26-2005, 03:40 AM
Karol's next tournament, as far as I can tell, is Monte Carlo.

Hopefully he'll take a wildcard into a challenger next week, though. And then perhaps some other challengers. I think he needs to get some confidence.

But what I really wish is that he would try to get a wildcard into one of the clay events before Monte Carlo. He isn't great on clay and could use the practice. I'd like for him to be seeded at the slams from now on. :o

Oh well... good luck Karol! Wherever you play next :) I'll be waiting!

03-26-2005, 03:48 AM
Another Karol pic from Sunrise :D

03-26-2005, 03:53 AM
My favorite Karol pic

03-29-2005, 10:45 PM
 Nice variety of posters we got here

03-30-2005, 03:21 AM
I guess Karol isn't going to be playing before Monte Carlo :(

04-02-2005, 11:20 PM
:wavey: I thought he got his own forum... What happened?

04-03-2005, 08:23 PM
No, they never gave us one

Maybe some day, after Karol wins Wimbledon.

VAMOS KAROL! I'm bored without him playing.

04-04-2005, 02:58 AM
 We have voted for one.

04-04-2005, 03:03 AM
This isn't a democracy ;)

04-04-2005, 06:43 PM
That is mean! :( I know there were some supporters and not only a few ones...

04-05-2005, 03:42 AM
So far not many of them have shown up here, though :(

I know there are many Karol fans in the world... I just need to recruit them.

04-09-2005, 09:31 PM
Karol Beck vs. Qualifier in the first round of Monte Carlo :) Depending on who it is, I like his chances.

But then he plays either Coria or PHM  oh well.

c'mon Karol!

04-11-2005, 03:33 AM
Karol Beck vs. Thierry Ascione tomorrow ;)

c'mon Karol! this is a match you really should win!

04-11-2005, 12:15 PM
Ascione def. Beck 6-3 7-5 :crying2:

This is Karol's 6th straight ATP tour loss. Hopefully he'll turn it around soon, but this is clay...

It's so sad :( He's in quite a slump.

04-23-2005, 01:58 AM
Karol is playing next week in Munich :D

c'mon Karol!

05-03-2005, 04:13 PM
Karol didn't play Munich :p lol.

But he's playing now in Rome, against Gaston Gaudio.

He could really use a win like this, especially on his by far worst surface. But Karol beating Gaston on clay might be asking a lot.

It's 3*-2 30-30 (from 0-30 :() for Gaston now... if Karol loses this it will be his 7th straight ATP loss

c'mon Karol!

05-03-2005, 04:13 PM
ooo he has a break point. :D

05-03-2005, 04:13 PM
okay deuce. lol.

I'll be back to update later :o

05-03-2005, 07:46 PM
Gaudio def. Beck 6-4 6-3 :crying2:

but not a bad showing, I suppose.

although 0/7 on break points shows that the match could have gone a lot better for him... Gaston was only 3/11... so it must have been quite a fight from Karol :)

05-09-2005, 09:38 PM
Youzhny def. Beck 6-3 6-2 :haha:

8th straight ATP loss. Top 30 this year... probably not. :(

He needs to get it together or he'll fall out of the top 100 again

05-10-2005, 02:07 AM
Do not worry grass season is coming soon. at least he will win one match there.

05-10-2005, 04:05 AM
I hope so.

05-20-2005, 12:36 AM
This is not looking good

05-20-2005, 04:05 PM
Karol Beck vs. Juan Carlos Ferrero in Roland Garros :haha:

I love them both, but of course I'll be cheering for Karol... futively?

Maybe he'll play doubles ;)

05-24-2005, 09:15 PM
Karol lost 4-6 3-6 3-6.... not unexpected.

Thank ye Gods the grass season is next for Karol! :)

05-26-2005, 10:40 AM
doubles 1r: Beck/Levinsky def. Chardy/Renavand 7-6(5) 6-3 :D

05-31-2005, 05:04 PM
After 9 straight ATP losses... Karol loses in a clay challenger 0-6 3-6 to Serra :haha:

I don't know why he didn't try to defend his grass title and prepare for the grass court season. Hopefully he'll be taking off to England now.

This has been a TERRIBLE year for Karol. Get it together :o

06-07-2005, 03:13 PM
Karol beat Wayne Arthurs 7-5 6-4 in queens! :D

Next opponent is either Marco Baghdatis or Paul-Henri Matthieu

Please can I help cheer for Karol?

06-08-2005, 04:22 PM
He in 3rd round, defeating Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-2 4-6 7-6(5)

Next is Andy Roddick

06-08-2005, 05:39 PM
of course you can cheer for him ;)

good luck against Roddick, Karol! play a good match.

beating Roddick would go a long way to prove the haters wrong ;) c'mon!

06-08-2005, 06:57 PM
Here are some photos from Queens Club during his match against Wayne Arthurs!

06-09-2005, 03:09 AM
Thanks! :D

btw, it's great to have another Karol fan :)

06-09-2005, 03:29 AM
I'll be getting up early tomorrow to cheer on Karol and watch the live feed from the BBC :D

go Karol :D

06-09-2005, 01:13 PM
Well I have to go now, but Karol has won the 2nd set! :D

It's 2-6 6-3 0*-1 Karol :D

keep fighting Karol! you can do it! :D

06-09-2005, 02:30 PM
He 2-6 6-3 4-6 so close

I suppose at least he got some more wins under his belt for this year which is good and it was a brilliant fight too!

KarolBeckFan, do you know if Karol is planning on competing in Nottingham?

06-09-2005, 02:50 PM
Saw his name on the entry list for Nottingham! I don't think that he will be seeded but all the same, lets hope for a great tournament for Karol!

06-09-2005, 03:59 PM
Yes he's playing ;)

I'm really proud of Karol... 6-4 in the third against the Wimbledon finalist. really good effort from Karol :D

good luck in Nottingham!

06-11-2005, 05:05 PM
Karol's quarter at Nottingham, some real tough names in his quarter:

Karlovic, Andreev, Ljubicic, Hanescu, O. Rochus, Monfils and Kevin Kim!

He plays Monfils in Round 1, winnable and then maybe the 7th seed Olivier Rochus

06-12-2005, 02:55 PM
he can beat any of those players on grass ;)

06-12-2005, 03:18 PM
I hope so, but a lot of them can be dangerous though! Best of luck to Karol though but I am nervous for him! I think he can beat Monfils and Rochus though! Just the possible Ljubicic or Karlovic match up which I am worried about!

06-12-2005, 06:54 PM
Karol vs Monfils is scheduled tomorrow on Court 1. It is first match on at noon. Best of luck Karol!

06-13-2005, 11:35 AM
I'm here to follow the scores but either the scoreboard isn't working or it's raining

06-13-2005, 02:01 PM
Karol won 6-2 2-6 6-3 :D

06-13-2005, 03:32 PM
Yep, quite good for Karol! The next opponent though could be Olivier Rochus or Kevin Kim who beat Srichapan last week. Good luck to Karol whoever he is scheduled to play though!

06-13-2005, 05:52 PM
Tomorrow, Karol plays doubles with Jaroslav Levinsky and they will take on Ashley Fisher and Santiago Ventura :)

06-13-2005, 11:29 PM
They're a good team, hopefully they'll win :D They're playing together in Wimbledon, too.

06-14-2005, 02:40 PM
:D Good to hear

They are 1 set all and have broke opponents serve

Regarding next match, Karol will play Olivier Rochus 8th seed who beat Kevin Kim 6-7 7-6 7-6

Lets hope Olivier is exhausted! :D

06-14-2005, 03:19 PM
Karol wins 2-6 6-3 6-4 in doubles :)

06-14-2005, 08:27 PM
Second match on Court 1 tomorrow! Best of luck Karol!

btw, Karolbeckfan, are you from Slovakia like Karol?

06-14-2005, 09:41 PM
No I'm from the USA ;)

I followed his doubles match live but didn't come on the boards :D good win.

I'll be here tomorrow for his next match :D GO KAROL!

06-14-2005, 09:43 PM
Karol lost to Olivier in Australia in the 3rd round... but this is grass and I think he'll win :D

06-15-2005, 02:37 PM
I think too that he has a better chance on Grass!

Rain has stopped play and the match before Karol's is reaching an end :)

06-15-2005, 03:54 PM
Already been broken and down 0-2

06-15-2005, 05:13 PM

At least he can be fresh and prepared for Wimbly

06-15-2005, 05:36 PM

yeah. and he still has the doubles.

C'mon, KAROL!

06-20-2005, 06:42 PM
Persevere Karol! I watched some of Karol on TV. It is quite tense

06-20-2005, 06:45 PM
they both seem to be playing really well, I wish that Philippoussis would get tired and play badly :p ;)

06-20-2005, 06:55 PM
2-5* :( not a good showing. he'll be really disappointed, and his ranking is really going to drop. I hope his year turns around.

06-20-2005, 06:58 PM
5-7 4-6 2-6

Karol :crying2:

good luck in doubles. play mixed, too!

06-20-2005, 07:35 PM

06-20-2005, 07:41 PM
A picture:

His shirt was really baggy!

06-21-2005, 01:37 AM
yeah I saw that pic, I really like it :D

06-21-2005, 01:38 AM
I doubt he will play mixed, I don't think he ever has.

06-21-2005, 07:33 PM
Karol and Jaroslav play Garcia and Horna in doubles! :)

06-22-2005, 12:26 AM

thanks :D

07-02-2005, 08:13 PM
Is Karol playing Newport?

Disgraceful that I could not follow Karols doubles while I was away although he lost  If he is playing in Newport he has a good chance!

07-02-2005, 09:48 PM
I think he is, we'll know soon ;)

07-03-2005, 01:17 AM
No Karol in Newport

too bad, he would have easily won it.

he doesn't take advantage of his opportunities... pf.

07-03-2005, 04:06 AM
DanEd, this is a fan thread which means that we support him and say things like that.

And to say that players like Bracciali, Morrison, Saulnier, etc., players who have accomplished absolutely nothing in their careers are better than Karol is stupid.

Karol would have been like the #2 seed and is far superior on grass than the rest of these players. Dent would have been the one that could bother him, but that would be unlikely.

07-03-2005, 04:21 AM
I know my post was a joke, i knew you were going to answer me of that way;) right now i am going to erased

btw are not you my friend anymore? you blocked my msn

07-03-2005, 02:57 PM
I didn't block your MSN, I just haven't been on much.

07-04-2005, 02:50 PM
Karol is ranked 47 after Wimbledon, losing 4 places

07-04-2005, 05:53 PM
He's going to drop really fast I think. Hopefully he'll finish this year strong and do better next year.

07-04-2005, 06:29 PM
Yes, I have a feeling this won't be his year.

He will need to be better for 2006 Australian Open, he did well this year!

Which is his next tournament?

07-05-2005, 03:01 AM
I think one of the small hardcourt events.

I'm going to go see him play at Washington, DC this year :D

07-05-2005, 03:05 AM
really? then take a photo with him :D do not waste this great chance for you

I think one of the small hardcourt events.

I'm going to go see him play at Washington, DC this year :D

07-05-2005, 03:08 AM
I will if I get a chance and he lets me. If he's mean to me I'll never recover  lol

07-07-2005, 04:35 PM
Only a few weeks now before I hopefully see Karol in person :D

07-07-2005, 08:04 PM
I hope you see him and you meet him! Have you met him before?

07-08-2005, 03:45 AM
Nope :scared:

07-14-2005, 01:53 AM
So Karol and Slovakia will be going up against the Netherlands in Davis Cup this weekend. Great chance for Slovakia to make the finals! With so many of the top teams out, who knows, they could win ;)

07-14-2005, 02:40 AM
really? tell me its possible rival in semis please

07-14-2005, 09:52 PM
I don't know, I'm just saying. It's a good opportunity.

07-15-2005, 05:59 PM
Good luck Karol! I arrived home from holiday and saw Karol on TV against Wessels. He was down 1-2 in sets though

07-15-2005, 11:24 PM
He lost

oh well... Karol's bad year continues. Hopefully he'll win the doubles :)

07-16-2005, 06:37 AM
Yes, good luck in doubles with Mertinak!

Sunday, singles against Sluiter

Hopefully he'll win at least one!

07-16-2005, 06:48 PM
He won in doubles

07-16-2005, 06:50 PM
Great stuff, Karol/Michal!!

07-17-2005, 02:01 PM
Yay he won the doubles, and Slovakia wins the tie! :bounce:

07-18-2005, 12:48 AM
I can't go to the DC tournament for qualifying now so I won't be there to see Karol practice or anything like that... but hopefully I'll still get to meet him.

07-18-2005, 09:10 PM
Karol is 10th seed in Indianopolis he has a bye and could play

Jonas Bjorkman
Lukas Dlouhy

good luck whoever Karol!

07-19-2005, 01:08 AM
He'll smash either one of them

07-20-2005, 05:30 PM
I twill be be Jonas

07-21-2005, 01:51 AM
Congrats for the nice 2 set win over Bjorkman, Karol! Makes my day nicer after the joke loss Hrbaty had earlier.

07-21-2005, 02:22 AM
6-4 7-5 :D

Finally a good win for Karol in singles.

Keep it up! :bounce:

07-21-2005, 08:46 AM
Yes! That's brilliant for Karol!

07-21-2005, 08:51 AM
Next is wildcard Rajeev Ram

this is Karol's quarter

I like the look of that but I will not try think ahead

07-21-2005, 08:50 PM
He has started well, leading 3-1 in the first set

A good start I'd say!

07-21-2005, 09:24 PM
Shit, not good

Karol won the first set 6-2 but now finds himself down a break. ARGH

07-22-2005, 01:34 AM
6-2 6-4 for Karol :D

nice win... and vs. Bastl in the next round. Great chance to make the semis... maybe this will turn his career around! :D

07-22-2005, 09:52 AM
Yes, I hope so

Possible Roddick in semi finals maybe but I don't think we should look ahead yet.

07-22-2005, 07:28 PM
Karol Beck def. George Bastl 6-4 7-5 :bounce:

Keep going, Karol! :D

07-22-2005, 07:29 PM
I'm so glad he won this one, in 2 sets also :)

07-22-2005, 07:58 PM
brilliant win against George! Has Roddick won yet to make a Roddick vs Beck semi?

07-23-2005, 12:13 AM
Roddick lost!

This is an AMAZING opportunity for Karol! I'd love to see him get his first title but I would really love it if he made a final this season after all the trouble he's had.

C'mon Karol! You can do it! :bounce:

07-23-2005, 12:19 AM
I shall be glued to my tv tomorrow at 2:30 for sure now! If Karol plays it smart, his variety, quickness, and intelligence should hopefully be enough.

07-23-2005, 12:20 AM
They played once this year, and Karol won. I'll look up the score now. I think it was three sets in the Sunrise Challenger.

07-23-2005, 12:23 AM
Karol won that match 6-4 1-6 6-1.

I actually spoke to someone who ran that challenger, and he told me that Karol played that entire tournament amazingly, and that the 1-6 set was the only one he lost and he just simply didn't seem to be there.

They also played once two years ago and Karol also won that match 7-6 6-4.

07-23-2005, 12:27 AM

Good stuff.

I actually remember the Sunrise result now that you mention it. I think I had been blocking that event out of my mind because of Dominik's loss to Sanguinetti.

Where things could maybe get dangerous tomorrow is if Karol really lets Ginepri control the rallies, and if his serve is on fire big time. Hopefully neither will happen.

07-23-2005, 12:38 AM
Karol is a better returner than Roddick so I'm not really worried.

07-23-2005, 09:01 AM
This is so good for Karol! I really think he has good chances against Ginepri today and he will play Dent or Rusedski in the final! Lets hope Karol will improve his season now!

07-23-2005, 09:03 AM
Here is a photo from yesterday on The official tournament website. It is a bit small but I quite like it: :)

07-23-2005, 10:40 AM

Ugh that sucks :(

But let's focus on this week for right now and hope for the best :o
Well said.

Karol is the first match on

07-23-2005, 07:15 PM
Stupid rain.

Karol looks pretty sharp so far. Hopefully they'll be back on court soon.

07-23-2005, 08:10 PM
Karol takes first set 7-5

07-23-2005, 08:41 PM
Now he has been broken in set 2

If he makes the final I have checked head to head with Dent and Rusedski

Dent - Never Played
Rusedski, 2004 Los Angeles, Hard, R16 Karol lost 6 3 3 6 6 7

A little off topic, do you think we can ask for a forum for Karol or should we wait till he becomes a bit bigger?

Sorry to jump ahead!

07-23-2005, 08:46 PM
I've asked for a forum before but no one will give him one. I still doubt they will.

7-5 2-6

focus, Karol!

07-23-2005, 08:50 PM
hmm ok! Maybe if he has a good 2006 and at the end of 2006 we can ask then.

Come on Karol!

07-23-2005, 09:03 PM
2-2 in the third set :scared:

c'mon Karol!

07-23-2005, 09:06 PM
3-2 Karol

I have to go

cheer for him for me, GO KAROL!

please let me return to see that you've won!

07-23-2005, 10:21 PM
Karol

Unfortunate as hell, but still a great week and great for his ranking.

07-23-2005, 11:02 PM
 Karol lost

Good luck against Hrbaty in LA

07-23-2005, 11:12 PM

07-24-2005, 02:57 AM
Sigh. Unfortunate loses for both Dominik and Karol in Indianapolis, and now they play each other in the goddamn first round in L.A.?!

07-24-2005, 02:13 PM
I know, it sucks. I think we'll be on different sides for that one, hrbatyfan ;)

07-24-2005, 04:20 PM
I know, it sucks. I think we'll be on different sides for that one, hrbatyfan ;)

Yup! But I hope they both have good matches.

07-24-2005, 10:22 PM
Me, too. I just hope Karol has a better one ;)

07-24-2005, 10:28 PM
We shall see :p

I hope they play Monday, as on Tueday I won't be able to follow it.

07-25-2005, 04:05 AM
They'll play on Tuesday... This is so bad that they have to play each other. Anyway, I wish the one who plays better wins the match. Hopefully, it's Dommy ^^ But good luck for them both!!

07-26-2005, 12:38 PM
Beck and Koening had a fun practice on Monday. Beck looked good but I'm not too sure about Koening. Koening was very kind and relaxed and kept complimenting Beck on his good shots. Beck, on the other hand, was pretty serious and quite. Although he did have a conversation with an Asian entourage that was on court before them. (Lee maybe?)

Saw only some of the doubles match but Erlich/Ram was pretty hilarious. Ram is just a goof ball laughing and retrieving net-cord serves. After the match, Beck and Robby had a formal handshake with a serious nod. :p

07-26-2005, 06:44 PM
Having seen Karol and heard about people's encounters with him, I get the feeling that he's a very shy person. I think he comes off as being serious but it really just timid.

I don't know for sure. I'll ask him next week :D ;)

07-26-2005, 07:01 PM
I hope that you see him KarolBeckFan

Tell him he has lots of fans who like him! :yippee:

07-26-2005, 07:35 PM
I will ;)

His match follows Spadea's who is up 2-1 in the third set.

07-26-2005, 08:32 PM
Karol should be on now I think but I I am having trouble with the scoreboard, I don't know if it is just me. Anyway good luck Karol!

07-26-2005, 10:19 PM
4-6 1-6 :crying2:

i hope he does better next week when i can actually see him.

07-26-2005, 11:20 PM
Here's to hoping Karol and Dominik don't draw each other again.

Hope you have fun in Washington D.C.!

07-27-2005, 02:07 AM
I probably won't if he loses like that :p

I hope Karol plays doubles so I get a better chance to see him play two matches :p

07-27-2005, 05:12 AM
Don't cry KarolBeckFan... I'm sorry he lost. Hope he has a great tourney next week. Is Dominik going to play there too?

07-27-2005, 06:56 AM
I don't think so. I don't remember :p

07-27-2005, 06:58 AM
He is. Hopefully they'll play doubles together.

07-27-2005, 09:18 AM
Awww  it was a little too one sided and sad to see Karol out after last weeks good run but I hope with loss early he can do well next week for you KarolBeckFan

07-27-2005, 04:42 PM
He is. Hopefully they'll play doubles together.

I hope so too :D But their names are still not in the doubles entry list yet. Anyway, we'll see. Good luck to both of them in Washington next week!

07-27-2005, 11:25 PM
You don't have to be on the doubles entry list to get in.

07-28-2005, 05:00 AM
Matej Bocko (SVK) d. (WC)Chris Wettengel (USA) 2-6 6-4 6-2

that makes my day :D

I'm glad he won a match, even if it is against an unranked player :D lol

07-31-2005, 01:38 AM
Ugh, Karol's draw for Washington is terrible!

He has a bye in the first round, so hopefully I can catch him practicing one of the first few days. In the second round he likely plays Ginepri who beat him two weeks ago, and then in the third round against Hrbaty who beat him last week! Argh!

I hope he plays doubles too, but I'll be there cheering him even if he goes down 0-6 0-6 in his first match.

Go Karol!

I'm leaving for Washington tomorrow morning. ;)

07-31-2005, 02:50 AM
Have a great time!

Tell Karol and Dominik hello for all of us.

07-31-2005, 10:39 AM
have fun KarolBeckFan

07-31-2005, 06:17 PM
Enjoy your time in DC ^^ ooohhh, we'd love to see some pics of Karol and Dominik too :)

It's bad that they might have to play each other in the third round, but I hope at least they make it to the third.

07-31-2005, 11:59 PM
Awww bad news about the singles draw!!!But I do have some good news Karol is playing doubles with Tomas Berdych!!In there first round match they play Paul Goldstien and Scott Oudsema.Good luck in the doubles and singles Karol!

08-01-2005, 02:58 AM
I'm in DC! :wavey:

If I get pics they probably won't be very good ones, because I don't have a good camera.

I hope that Karol is on an outside court... tomorrow everyone I want to see is playing on the center court, and that's too bad... it's not as close to the players. I'm also excited about the doubles because there probably won't be as many people there and I'm really excited to see Paul and Karol on the same court!

I hope to catch some of Karol and maybe Dominik practicing tomorrow... you never know. Maybe they'll even practice together! I'll keep you guys posted. :wavey:

08-01-2005, 07:08 AM
Photos of Karol at Mercedes-Benz Cup.

Hope you can take better photos KBF. (Grrr at the fence. :o) Have fun at DC! :wavey:

08-01-2005, 10:14 AM
Have fun KarolBeckFan!

Thankyou liS@ for the pictures! I think that the fence can give a nice effect!

08-02-2005, 04:56 AM
I had a GREAT day!

I met Karol today and got a picture with him! :bounce: Hrbaty was nowhere to be seen though.

It was GREAT! :bounce:

You can see my full (and really long) report in the Legg Mason forum! :wavey:

Hope you guys are well!

08-02-2005, 05:01 AM
Great photos, liS@! :D Mine won't be nearly that good, my camera was something really cheap that I picked up on the way up here... I was just hoping the photos I got of the players with me would turn out okay. But far away photos will suck because the camera has no zoom.

Still, I'll post them if they aren't too bad, but it isn't digital so I'll have the develop them. I broke my digital camera

Do you mind if I save the Karol photos to my computer when I get home? I don't do anything with them except look at them, so no one else will get them.

08-02-2005, 05:15 AM
Haha no problem KBF. I'm surprised you even want them. :p Can't wait to see your photos with him! How did he respond? He speaks good English, no? I'll go have a look at your report.

08-02-2005, 08:49 AM
OMG! I'm so happy for you KarolBeckFan!

I will go and read your report!

08-03-2005, 03:34 AM
I watched all of Karol's doubles match today :bounce:

My last day at the tournament will be tomorrow, and my priority is going to see Karol's match. I'm also going to try to catch some of Dominik ;)

I'm going to post about today's doubles match in the tournament forum, if you're interested.

08-03-2005, 05:01 AM
Sounds like a good win for Karol/Berdych.

KBF, would you mind if I posted your match reports on the Beck webpage? (view sig) Thanks. :wavey:

08-03-2005, 09:14 AM
wow, I like your site liS@

08-03-2005, 06:10 PM
Hahaha, thanks GF, it's not much at all. All from ATPtennis.com, etc. Got anything to contribute? :)

08-03-2005, 10:46 PM
Awww no Karol lost 3/6 4/6 to Robby. This really sucks!!Well im happy that he won his doubles match with Tomas!.I hope now that Dominik can win his match!

08-04-2005, 12:28 AM
Ugh, sorry Karol.

08-04-2005, 06:19 AM
liS@, you can do that if you really want to. ;)

Terrible loss today, terrible. Karol's year is going pretty badly. Hopefully things will improve soon. I want him to be top 20 sometime.

Still, no matter what he does I'll always be here to support him! ;)

I posted a little about today's match in the tournament thread... but not much really. There isn't much to say about it, other than Karol played really poorly.

08-04-2005, 05:21 PM
I'm so sorry for Karol and Dominik :sobbing:

08-04-2005, 05:24 PM
:crying2: Sorry for you karolbeckfan that you did not see Karol win but at least in doubles

08-04-2005, 05:28 PM
also to liS@, on your thing which says Karol 2005 atp calendar, it says Karol is due to play Paris Masters, is this for sure because I am going to Paris this year and if so is the truth, I may be able to see him :)

Unfortunately, I have nothing to contribute to your site. I was at Queens this year with a friend who won a competition in a newspaper and Karol was playing against Wayne Arthurs but my friend wanted me to go with him on Centre Court with him so I missed Karol play

08-04-2005, 08:04 PM
GF, I am just assuming he will play all the GSs and TMSs because his ranking is high enough. Although I'm surprised his not tired with all that traveling--looking at his schedule, it seeme like he has played every week. But how can you be tired when you lose early in the week? :tape: But no, I haven't heard anything about his future plans.

Sorry about missing Beck play. You'll catch him next time, then you better drop me a line! ;)

Karol and Tomas lost their doubles match last night

On to Montreal! Hopefully he'll have more success there.

08-08-2005, 11:39 AM
It is confirmed that the qualifier that Karol will play is Noam Okun.

He plays today, Good luck

08-08-2005, 11:41 AM
 Karol and Noam have played once at Indy last year which Noam won in straight sets. Please get revenge Karol!

08-08-2005, 04:23 PM

08-08-2005, 10:35 PM
Yes this is great news im very very happy that Karol won!!!!But David is next and let me tell you,David is a very tough player!!!So good luck in that match Karol!!!It's going to be tough!!!!!

08-09-2005, 12:31 AM
This is great!!! Both Karol and Dominik did win!! :D Good luck to Karol against Nalbandian. Another good match to watch :yeah:

08-09-2005, 01:02 AM
Do you get all the Slovakian matches on TV? :p

You're lucky if you do.

08-09-2005, 04:05 PM
Actually nope...But I was lucky to get a chance to watch Dominik play Henman coz they only show the matches on center court. I'm not sure about tomorrow though. Hopefully, Dominik and Karol will play on center court so that I could get a coverage, but it is unlikely :sobbing:

08-10-2005, 12:19 AM
Neither of them are on center :(

Both are on court 5  Dominik 3rd match, Karol is the 4th...

good luck to both! :bounce: I'll still be at work during Dominik's match probably, but I'll most likely be back in time to follow the live scores for Karol's match. GO KAROL!

08-10-2005, 11:43 PM
Stupid rain. Karol's match may not even get played tonight.

08-11-2005, 12:24 AM
They moved his match to court ten

08-11-2005, 03:31 AM
Oh!! KarolBeckFan... are you following the live scores?? They are sooooo close! Great job Karol  I really wish he wins!!!

08-11-2005, 03:55 AM
Karol Beck def. David Nalbandian 7-6(1) 6-7(3) 6-3 :D

Thank god! He had match point at 7-6 5*-4, and blew it. I thought the match was over but he managed to pull it together and win! :D

:bounce: Karol :bounce:

08-11-2005, 07:37 AM
YAY! :bounce: Possibly Karol's best win all year :yippee: :yippee:

08-11-2005, 11:44 AM
I think the win over Haas at the Aussie was a bit better, because he was down two sets to none before coming back to win ;)

Today Karol plays Davydenko @ 3pm (again on the last court  ). I think it's a winable match for Karol.

Go Karol! :D

08-11-2005, 11:52 AM
I think the win over Haas at the Aussie was a bit better, because he was down two sets to none before coming back to win ;)

Yes, I think it was that or the one he just won :D

Good luck against Davydenko!

Is it the 3rd round now?

08-11-2005, 02:25 PM
Wow geat job Karol :worship:!!!Thats a very good win!And I think if he can beat David than he can beat Nikolay!!!But who knows....Good luck Karol!Oh ya Gambillfan it is the third round, and lets just hope he can make it to the next round!

08-11-2005, 05:23 PM
Congrats to Karol and you guys!!! ^^ This is so awesome! You know people in the OOP yesterday were betting on Nalbandian and they were so sure that Nalbandian would win. They even said Karol was useless. I was so mad at them. I'm so happy Karol has proved it that he's not. I really wanna laugh at those ill people. Anyway, good luck to Karol against Davydenko.

08-11-2005, 07:27 PM
even said Karol was useless
Glad Karol proved them wrong :yippee:
