Congrats Roger!

This match was very similar to the Max Mirnyi matches you had last year:

Big serves, 7-6, 7-6!.

Great match!

Ljubicic, a fantastic player!

Ducky I like Ivan and all and he probably would have beaten Duck tonight but you can't get riled up over some comments. Ivan is a late bloomer and those kind of stories are nice to see. Still Ivan does need to start earning hardware if he wants to make the Cup. Let's hope he picks up something soon.

Having said that I'm happy that he's up there with the best and I believe he can keep this up as long as he stays clear of injuries and doesn't play too many tournaments. And damn it if they meet again at Nasdaq in early rounds http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/waffen/violent-smiley-010.gif

Haven't seen the match, but kudos to Ljubicic for making it close, I didn't expect that. Usually Federer raises his game in major tournaments and from what I read he did so tonight but Ljubicic still made a match of it.

And for Roger, well really hard to see who could beat him now. Maybe Henman but I think Canas will take him out in the quarters. Probably another final against Hewitt and we all know what's gonna happen then, dont we?

Okay, I don't normally like to post on these issues, but I felt the need to here. RubberDucky, please just stop. Obviously they aren't going to stop, so be the bigger person please. I mean most of the intelligent tennis fans know that Ivan is having a great year. At the same time, most intelligent tennis fans know he hasn't had the overall results from years past to compare with some of the top players. And although, I usually enjoy reading your posts, they are getting somewhat annoying now. It is the same post from every tournament Ivan enters.

Hope Ivan has a great rest of the year, and keeps up his level of play. He has played long enough and done his share and deserves to have a great year, but we don't need you telling us every minute that he is awesome and is having a great year--just as you don't like Roddick fans doing this, why are you sinking to their level? most of us know that he is having a great year, and the ones you are trying to reach will never be reached. give it up. sorry if that offended anyone too much.

Its really a great match :) . Both played very well, Lujbicic with his big serves help him a lot in this match but Roger played extremly well, maybe its the best match i've seen so far this year from him. He seems in the top form again, the backhand, the forehand and especially his volleys today are so good and his speed is incredible as usual. Unlucky Ivan had to meet him, i'm sure he can beat any one at the moment except ROGI. Well if Roger keep playing like he did today, i doubt no one can stop him to get the trophy again. Way to go ROGER, i'm so proud of being your fan

Poor old Ljubo! :haha: Closer than I thought though. But in a way, not so close. Ljubo's best chance of beating Fed is in tiebreaks..and Fed firmly closed the door on him.

Horatio Caine

Once again, a relatively early exit for Ljuby in a MS or GS. Hsowever, he was really unfortunate to face Federer so he should be given the benefit of the doubt. I think only a couple of players can beat Fed on their own godo days. However, I doubt he would have beaten Hewitt, Roddick or Agassi in R4 either.

He will still need at least 100 MS points to have a shot at the MC - 200+ if his miserable GS record continues...

joseluismb

I did get to see the match. It was different to any other Roger match. Even different to facing Andre, Lleyton, or even Andy.

Remember how the atmosphere "felt" when he played Safin in January? Even in the first set, you could actully "feel" or get the feeling that any of these players could win.

It was the same last night. You just felt either player could win in the end! Ljubo started serving first in the first set, and Roger had some problems comming from behind with his serve. Ljubo actually could have broken his servem but he wanted to hit "super-shots" when he was up 0-30 or 15-30.

Anyway, the match was really even. And intense. If looked like those Fed v Marat or Sampras v Agassi matches in which you felt they were playing at a higher level than usual.
