I guess he didn't want to be bageled

Anyone else think that he gave up the minute he lost serve when he was serving for the 1st set? All his history against Ferrer probably defeated him and he didn't have best of 5 to rely on.

Shame on you, Nalbo. Ferrer is nothing on the hard court. How do you manage to lose? If Coria beats Dent, you should ask Coria for the advise.

I really don't know. It's not David's style to just give up. I would, however, like to read the post-match report and see what really happened. Your theory may be valid.

David is clearly not up to playing matches. He's playing like a qualie out there.

Same here. I'll be back here tomorrow looking for jazzitas translations from the local press in Argentina.

You'd better bet I'll be interested in knowing what happened here.
In my opinion, he needs to put the racquet down for awhile and get his head together.

Wasn't we saying the same thing last year on Rosies yahoogroup? His serve has been dog awful for ages. But he doesn't seem to be doing very much to improve it. He just keeps entering the tournaments and losing to the guys he should be blowing away in straight sets.

I think we've been saying it to the point of exhaustion, in my opinion. Until he does work on that serve-and his nerves-opponents will continue to beat him soundly. The way he's playing now is not what's winning matches. He needs a change in strategy, or he will get left behind.

I'm as surprised as you by the result. But look at what I have just found in GM. It's been posted by Alfie.

http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/story?id=312290

from ESPN spanish web site.

"No me molesta para jugar, pero hay días que no me levanto bien", reconoció y aclaró: "es una hepatitis o algo así".

"It doesn't bother me to play but there are days i wake up feeling not good", he acknowledged and added: "it's hepatits or something like that"
I really hope it's not serious. And that he can overcome the virus very rapidly.

Well, there are diferent forms of that disease. Usually, that's a virus that is cured in a few days, with a special diet and some appropriate meds. But there are more dangerous forms...and I'm sure it's not David's case. :)

Choupi

It's a virus Sophia. And I've heard that there was some kind of epidemic in some areas of Argentina. But that the cases weren't too serious.

well lets hope it will be the same for David then, with some couple of days/week rest he will be able to play well again.

well lets hope that what he will do....he has been playing well..at times...I mean some of his shots have been brilliant so its all there....he is just unlucky...but with all the things that have happened....I guess his immune system is low so he is prone to picking things up...lets hope he gets himself well for the summer....

Yuck....I guess it would depend on what version of the virus he has. Maybe he needs to get more than two week's rest. That's awful.

He'll be fine. Have faith girls. He needs to rest and take care of himself. He'll be back in MC in great shape. And we'll be there to cheer for him! :)

He cannot have hepatitis! A friend of mine had it and couldn't move from his bed in a month, that's not david's case, he's still playing tennis. It's something different.

There are different kinds. If it's not hepatitis, then....it may be mono. I don't know. They are similar in symptoms.

I'm a bit concerned now..if it is really hepatitis , i mean that's a serious thing.

Whatever is that he has ...he definitly needs to rest.

I know. If it's hepatitis, then two weeks is not adequate for the virus to leave his system. It may take longer....

He sounds pretty optimistic if he wants to come back in two weeks...Maybe he's been having this since the DC, he had some problems before the match. Remember he started training a week after Coria?

He sounds really optimistic...but if it hepatitis two weeks are nothing.

I heard storys that took years to fully recover.

But if he is that optimistic,it can't be that serious.

Claudia, David may well have taken care of that aspect of his health, but this particular thing right now may not be treatable that way. We really don't know the full story...
I hope Jazz can pick up some information from the Coria match today.

Oh shit - not Ferrer  Means David will lose before we even get to see him on TV here as our coverage doesn't start til Monday
 I am impressed Rosie. What do you predict for the rest of the season? If we would know his results in avance, we would suffer less
