sabatini reborn....

thats nalbandian when it comes to the serve. he will never win a slam with such a huge weakness. and its by no means his only one. for a guy built like a tank he can be unbelievably negative in his general play. personally, of the argentinians i'd rather watch canas, coria and gaudio. canas and coria for their fight, and gaston simply for the ridiculously good backhand.

I know how to read, but Sabatini had a weak serve and won a slam.

Nalbandian can do it, especially the way he normally backs it up.

was only comparing him to sabatini in the serve area. and sabatini was better for her time than nalbandian is. sabatini could play big matches! and the womens' game was very weak at that time. he might win a slam, but i seriously doubt it.

Highly unlikely with that weak serve. He had his chance in 2002 Wimby and 2003 U.S. Open. I don't see it ever happening now. He got absolutely owned by Kiefer.

One match, and after an injury-plagued season where he is trying to reacapture his form. I'm more worried about the state of his mind, rather than his serve, considering he often shows up mentalluy blank in a match.

that is why i said i doubt he will win a slam. two enormous weaknesses. his mind and his serve. no male winner of a slam in recent times has been as poor as him in those areas

That's why he's perfect to set a precedent. ;) If anything, you should realize tennis is all about dynamics, and just because something happened a certain way for a long while doesn't mean it will continue.

if he doesn't make big improvements there, he wont win a slam. (never say never, but incredibly unlikely to)

Just want to make an opinion(I hope it doesn't match anybody's opinion) without offending David's fans or fanatics, oops sorry I'm taking "fanatics" back, but anyway I used to be David's fan(very critical) untill Rotterdam when he blamed his loss on the color of tennis balls, bad lighting. Even if David improves his weak serve he will never win a slam and my prediction his rating will drop dramatically he will become a guy who anybody would like to have in the lucky draw, well he's the guy(I don't even hope I'm wrong). His success in 2002 & 2003 I call "a winning streak". It's over.

I believe that David has the potential to be a truly great tennis player. He really needs to work on the physical side of his game. Not gym work, but more on the court (I can tell he has been working out ;) ). David is mentally fragile and should hire a psychologist to work with him. If he works on these areas, he really is a chance in any tournament.

To me Davis is absolutly comparable to Gaby, in fact that's why i like him the most from all argentine squad, i share the opinion Coria and Gaudio , specially Coria, are the ones to look at if you are expecting big results, but Davis has that "smth" that makes you go from believing (Winbledon) his gonna make it to "nah... no way"... (Rotterdam)... he loses it so fast that it drives me crazy!!!! I hope he gets better in time otherwise he'll waste that great talent he has and my time wathing him!!

Nalbandian undoubtedly has the talent behind the serve to win any tournament in the world. He was 1 point away from the USO 2003 final for heavens sake! Had he got to the final he might have even beaten Ferrero. He is constantly challenging in the latter stages of slams...it is inevitable that such a player makes a breakthrough.

I agree, he has the tennis to do it.

why did she retire at age 26?

Raquel

why did she retire at age 26?
She'd been on the tour since she was 14 and after 12 years of that life, and with her form not as good as it had been I think she just decided to leave the game while she was still near the top rather than slide down because that's the way she was going. Bjorn Borg retired about the same age too. He wasn't on the way down but I think he just lost the desire and wanted something new after years of travelling and it was the same for Gaby.

yes, she said that she was not enjoying tennis anymore and needed time to live things she lost while teen. Now she says that she is very sure about her decision and doesn't miss that life.

Well, my opinion is that the serve isn´t really David´s problem. The problem is that tennis is not his #1 PRIORITY and that he´s not critical enough with himself. For example: I would love to hear him say he´s had a mediocre year but instead he says: "I played good at times and other times not, but Ive been in some not very easy situations, I played sick at Miami and Indian Wells and I didnt´t know it"
I think if he was a bit more demanding of himself he could be top 3, and win more than 1 Slam as he is capable of playing well on pretty much every surface.
