David was looking good. How could he go down so badly to Kiefer.
I mean Kiefer is good. But I at least thought David would put up more resistance.

Weird, huh? Did anyone see the match? I looked at the stats and it wasn't pretty.

david was looking good? he was looking like a huge pile of steaming shit against bjorkman. his serve is pitiful!! it is no joke to say club players could smack it back. it is one of the weakest shots in mens tennis! kiefer should beat nalbandian when his head is right. he's just as talented, so i dont see it as a big shock

Many players tank when they play Kiefer.
I can't really blame them though. :o

Kiefer in Indian Wells 2005:

Men’s Singles – Fourth Round
(29)N Kiefer (GER) d (10)D Nalbandian (ARG) 61 63

Men’s Singles – Third Round
(29)N Kiefer (GER) d (8)G Gaudio (ARG) 63 61

Men's Singles - Second Round
(29)N Kiefer (GER) d S Sargsian (ARM) 60 60

First round bye..

This guy has lost only eight games in three matches, against three experienced players, including two Top 10 seeds.. He's red hot.

I agree with you. He's gonna have to work on that serve-and even his nerves-if he's to win these titles.

I was just about to mention the double bagel of the Sarge, and CooCoo beats me to it. Will be interesting to see him against Roger or Ivan.

Keifer played well and David played like shit -no excuses - not just his serve -the whole thing. Kudos to Keifer - he deserved the win - no argument from me about that. I thought Keifer might win this - maybe not as easily as he did - but I am not surprised - sad but not surprised.

Both things happened at the same time: David's worst match I have seen in a year and Kiefer played excellent ... by the way, it's true: he can't keep serving like that, not if he pretend fast courts to remain his stronger venues...

wowow, I'm shocked. I thought Nalbandian had that match won even before it was played.

Kiefer has been on a hot streak- starting with the win over Marat in Dubai. He is very dangerous when his game is on and can play well from most areas of the court. While I am not totally surprised by Kiefer winning I am surprised by the scoreline

I think it will be a tough match for Ivan or Roger in the quarters. We shall see.

Nalbandia has only won 2 titles, what's up with him? Is he going to win another title?

Once he puts his head in the match, yeah, he will...

He really could if he stops letting little things like "background noise" or whatever get in his way.

INCREDIBLE!!!! :woohoo:
When I came home, the first thing was going to the computer and I had to rub my eyes when I saw the result because I couldn't believe it!!! :)

Just looking at the stats Kiwi didn't even serve that good, just around 50%, had almost no aces at all, but still he hardly allowed any break points and he was winning MUCH more 2nd serve points than David. That's really seldom that Kiwi does that when his serve is not that on fire, it's a good sign for me.

Damn, now I'm really proud that Kiwi won this match beating another top 10 player. :clap2: :clap2:

It's really great that he has made it to this Quarterfinal after all that what happened to him during the last months...

:) Kiwi :smooch:

Kiefer is doing good so far this tournament and this is nice for him, but he should better concentrating on getting results the hole year, in more Masters, in Grand Slams, on clay. He is yet makes waste of what he could play, but good is that he is playing more well since last year.

Neely!!! I've been thinking about you as I've watched Kiefer's victories pop up on the scoreboard. He's been on fire!!! He is really the very hot player of the tournament. I'm very happy for you!

Unfortunately, he's about to run into a renowed fireman here so he may get doused.

Kiefer doesn't have that many successes and wins like other players, so I'm glad he made it that far and gets a good spotlight match against Roger :)

Kiefer will never really play well on clay I suppose, but if he is not facing a total clay specialist or top players every time, I have hope for him to do significantly better than last years (which actually isn't hard to achieve at all). He still has to improve in so many other tournaments before that he shouldn't give clay any of his main priorities at the moment IMO. He should better concentrate on winning a few rounds in Wimbledon this year. Nobody asks if you made it to the 4th round or maybe even a quarterfinal on a clay TMS, the first thing that pops up on your player profile is "Wimbledon quarterfinalist", "Wimbledon semifinalist" etc. and nobody will give him credit if he made it to 4th round or a quarterfinal on clay. But well, I'll take any wins of him, no matter where they come, but I just don't think much on them will be coming on clay. ;)

Good win Kiefer :yeah: I don't think that he will beat Roger, but you never know.
