Ljubcic vs Federer...who will win?

I know there are a few croats here who think Federer does not really have a chance against Ivan because he has been playing well; seems a bit ridiculous to tip Ivan for a win her I feel.

I'd like to see Ivan get a well deserved win, but I just cant see him beating Roger, despite his current form and having pushed Roger on a couple of occasions already this year

You are a fuckin idiot. Tell me which Croats told you that. What a jackass. This guy keeps talking shit on Ivan for 2months and Ivan has done nothing but win...so keep up the good work prick.

and what other player has a chance vs Roger...Roddick?

ohh and yeah...Fulgore is a 11 year old kid who knows nothing about tennis.

As much as I hate to say it.
Roger will beat Ljubcic for the 4th time in a row. And I as well as Ivan will be devastated. :(

Heart says Lubeman (deserves to win after being so close)......But the head says the Fed Express will just have the edge again.

I think it will be Fed, though Ljubicic is improving very well. He just needs to tighten up his forehand a bit and he already has a great serve and backhand. I don't know much about his movement or volleys though.

I've noticed there has been some antagonism over Ivan on my usually mature MTF since his fantastic performance in DC.

I like Ivan AND Roger. But, at this point, I still see Roger with the edge because of his talent and the fatigue/injury rumour attached to Ivan. If Ivan takes it, I'll be super happy for him. But, Roger is in the driver's seat right now.

Best of luck to both professionals! :bounce:

*fingers crossed that all MTFers remain cordial all around tennis fans* :D

I really think it's too bad that Ivan has to play Fed right now. This guy is simply on fire right now, mowing his way through competition. I think Ivan can pull off an upset, but it's highly unlikely. What a shame for Ivan. I think he can beat anyone in the world right now other than Fed.

Yep same here :) would like to see how he plays vs those players.

But I still think Roger is going to win now :) (and that's what I hope as well)

It's a win-win situation for me, with a little tendency towards Roger.

Fed.
I don't think Roger has actually lost a tournament where he has progressed beyond 3rd round, except for Rotterdam 04 and AO 05 since Houston 03.
Other five times he's been defeated, they were all 3rd rounds or before.
(FO 3rd, Monte Carlo 2nd, Miami 3rd, Cincy 1st, Olympics, 2nd, I think....)
So if he doesn't defend his title here, that will be a very odd thing.

It has become a habit hasn't it, every second and third week to see an Ivan vs Roger thread pop up in GM. 4th time this year and it's only March

Good luck to Roger he will need to be extra sharp in this match not like his last match :fiery:

Fed will destroy him I fear...remember Pavel's succession of meetings with Fed last year? Fed will get tired of meeting the bald assassin and put him away once and for all.

Besides - Ljubo rarely makes a MS QF - it would be a miracle if he does today.

Well, according to all the Safin lovers...this is it. Safin isn't left in the draw so Roger cannot be stopped.

Yes, not to mention it's like the only reason he probably will defend his title. :tape:

I think Roger will have the edge once again. Ljubicic must be tired, he has played non-stop since Marseille, right?

I want Ivan to lose, rest for Miami and get into Roddick's, Safin's or Hewitt's part of the draw and let Federer alone a bit. :p

Federer will win...it might even be easier than their last 3 matches this year. He is probably getting sick of seeing Ivan anyway! Not that Ivan isn't thinking the same thing...only vice versa!

why do some people keep saying that Ivan is tired or has an inury??? he beat Berdych easily... how can he be tired?

Action Jackson
03-16-2005, 02:58 PM
Ivan has played a lot of tennis recently, so there'll come a point where he hits a wall from playing a lot and will be sluggish.

maybe Roger is already in a state of mind "I may keep drawing this guy every tourney and he may even play pretty well, but I'll just keep beating him"....if so, then Im afraid Ljubo has no chance ;)

Actually Ljubicic isn't having the problem of drawing Federer often (compare Andrei Pavel's draws last year): this is only the second tournament this year that they are in the same half of the draw, let alone the same eighth. The other time it happened was at the AO, and Ivan lost to Marcos Baghdatis before they could meet.

- I'll make it. I'll continue to play, and in Miami I'll do the ultrasound to see what's wrong with it. Until then, I'll treat it the same: ice and cream"
