CORIA DRAMATICALLY INCREASED SERVE (SPEED) !!!!!

what do u think about that? do u think that it will help him much to reach is aim to become number 1 player in the world?
i think he will get some more free points now. that will help him a lot. he does not have to work for every single point now anymore (when he is serving).
in davis cup guille served 210 km/h and scored 8 aces ON CLAY where as his opponent, i think it was berdych who is a very strong server just scored 3 aces. and after the game he said that he did not serve too hard because he does not want his shoulder problems to come up again.
despite of the facts guille said in interviews that he thinks he really improved his serve. i think thats true too, i saw every match of guille in 2005.
i think this is pretty good for guille and also pretty good news for his fans and supporters.
i think he never served over 190 km/h in 2004.
do u think this has something to do with his new raquet or do u think he changed his serve movement that he does more strengh training mb?
i do not know it thats why i ask u.
i hope my english is not too bad.
have a nice day and never stop supporting guille. :)

Yes I was at the match against Berdych and he served INCREADIBLY well. Many of his serves were of 200kph or above. He was able to hit 2 aces in a row, something he hasn't been able to do too much. He later slowed down, serving not as hard but still well. He said it was because he didn't want the slight pain in his bicep (nothing to worry about he said) to bother him.
So yeah I'm really happy about his improvement in his serve and I'm sure it will help him in some way :)

He improved his serve, sure, nobody wants to argue that, but in Davis Cup serve speeds are well known to be (more or less heavily) "inflated" because of the Getronics systems, so don't believe EVERYTHING what you get from this Davis Cup system compared to other ones that are normally used on the Tour.

BTW, I remember Coria serving way over 190 km/h in 2004 already, too. But of course not regularly. Maybe one, two, three serves... something like that... the whole match.

Yes Neely, that's true. But aces don't lie ;) And I've seen him play last year in february and this year in march (live) and the diference is huge. It is certainly faster and stronger.

Don't worry, I'm sure this is still to come :p

can roids make you serve faster?

if serving faster means that he will be serving only 20% serves in like Grosjean, then that is not good.

Was he getting many serves in?

BlackSilver
03-09-2005, 03:44 PM
Coria is serving faster since the beggining of the year, very fast, but his % of first serve fell significantly. If he can hit something close to 50% of first serve AND return to his level of 2004 he can think in being number 1.

Depending on the type of steroid, they can help you in any physical manner. And they can definitely boost your serve power.

However, I'm fairly confident that every successful athlete in the world takes some form of steroids.

didnt coria still get broken quite a lot in his match against berdych. i don't know if it'll help him, i agree with tennislurker, his % will probably drop and his 2nd serve isn't exactly on a par with most of the top 20. but time will tell, maybe if it works rafa can follow the lead

Coria has definitely improved his serve-- Ive noticed that as well. Im sure he is still tweaking his serving style and it'll take some extra match experience for him to adequately adjust his game to his serve. I think its a positive development and a much needed one --he'll be able to preserve his fitness better.

Another bullshit post to stir up trouble . . .

Your comment is out of line . . . your logic takes a huge leap from some decent serves to steroids . . . if he were taking steroids they certainly didn't help him in Australia, now did they? He did really well on clay, his best surface but even still his first match was not a stunning performance.

You don't like him and that's cool but there is no evidence whatsoever at this point in the season that he is doing anything like that.

Everything Coria does is amazing. Even if his serve slowed down and his percentage went down for no clear reason, it would be because of some complicated strategy that only Coria himself can understand. Us peons are in no position to judge his greatness.

My shoulder is bothering me today. This could very well be from serving last night, but I prefer to think of them as sympathy pains.

Something I think most people are afraid to say. I think some athletes may not actually take steroids as in banned substances steroids, but there are so many other enhancers out there that even if they are not banned, they are still enhancers. I say let them all juice up:)

I don't get the joke . . .

I don't understand how accusing someone of taking drugs illegally 'cause it sounds funny and cute and might be amusing (or becasue you don't like him). Yeah, this a non-important forum that really doesn't go anywhere but that's no excuse. That is one hell of an accusation and it's not right. You could be talking about any player and it wouldn't be right . . .

yeah, he also takes one drug for the drop shots and another for lobs....

I wish he would also take some drugs for serve and volley game, so he might have a chance in Wimbledon. But I have heard that nowadays those are scarce in the ATP Tour...
