Top Spin is good but it gets old soon. I still waiting for good tennis game with more then 5 atp players on it...why not make it top 50 or 100

It's a great game...;) But it gets boring after awhile as it's too easy once you have it down. :p

There´s also a Sponge Bob Squarepants :hearts: game for the Xbox. If I was you I´d buy one.

Top Spin is by far the best tennis game, so if you want to play a tennis game that's the one. But, like some others already said, the single player game is a bit boring after a while, it doesn't really have you keep coming back like Virtua Tennis did. On the other hand, the multiplayer is flawless, even after a couple of years.

I don't know how the game plays through xbox live cause I don't have live. You will need a broadband connection, you can't use a 56k phone line.

The Xbox does use broadband.

Also, there is a PC demo of Top Spin available:

I don't know what the PC multiplayer is like, never played it or the Xbox multiplayer.

this is the reason i bought my xbox. but now i don't even play topspin. it was totally worth buying because i ended up buying other games (halo and halo 2...and others too) that i play a lot now. my friends and i all get together to play halo 2 and it's rather fun.

i do have xbox live, and tried playing topspin, but there weren't any players online... i tried joining a tournament too but it got cancelled because of lack of people.

I love playing Top Spin...but like others have said it gets old really fast. Mainly, because it is so easy to achieve a "legend" status. However, I still play it everyday because I make my own tournaments to play in, and I like kicking Hingis' ass everyday.

Don't buy an X BOX just for this game, I would also suggest Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005! I don't even like golf but it's really fun to play.

That's if you have a fairly high-end graphics card.

Which costs even more than an XBox. :p

I did the same thing you did, Dario... sold all my PS2 shit to get an XBox. But, that's because my PS2 finally died after months of annoying problems. And yours will die eventually, also. PS2's are so cheaply made... including the new slim ones.

I wouldn't get an XBox just for Top Spin. Online play sucks... you can't play competitively, because there's way too many cheap ways to win. It's only useful if you have some friends who want to play fair games with you. Offline play is fun... but, it does get easy after a while. Plus, the computer serves like retards.

If you're not into sports games or fighting games or Halo... I wouldn't suggest getting an XBox, though. XBox has so few games that I like, personally. But, I needed a console. :p

I've gotta reset my ps2 about 100 times before it'll finally load whatever disc is in it...it just keeps saying disk read error.

i think tennis games are probably one of the easiest to make, its really a lot easier than soccer/us football/basketball games to make. i suppose the market just isn't really there for a company to spend a lot of time on it. a game with the top 30 or so players with decent graphics would go down very nicely with me

I don't know if the market is that bad...

Sega Sports Tennis and Top Spin are 2 of the best selling sports games out there.

Some tennis games today are very well made... it's just very difficult to get the gameplay just right.

if they made it realistic the gameplay would automatically be pretty good. i find that in every tennis game there's such a limit to the amount of shots you can hit. also, far too many games have annoying little additions which make them stupidly unrealistic, virtua tennis 2 being a prime example, although it was still pretty good.

the market in britain would be pretty awful, unless the game was called wimbledon....are you russian or american? or are you like miss sharapova?

Top Spin is by far the best tennis video game out there . It is a game that I play with my friends constantly and for me it never gets tired living vicariously through Pete Sampras . The game was Petes tribute game after he had retired and many avid video game fans will tell you that this is better than any tennis game offered by other video game consoles . There are lots of different options and strategizing thats involved if you want to compete with other great players online . The only downfall, if there is one , is that it won't take long before you can beat the computer on hard mode , but nevertheless it is definitely an enjoyable game to play .

Gamespot .com gives an excellent review of this game and declares it the best teenis game out there

does your POS2 have trouble playing the games with the purple back? my cousins had that problem and sent it in to get it fixed (i think for free) it was a problem with the older POS2's.

Yes, Sony will fix any DRE's for free... due to a lawsuit.

However, you have to pay to send it to them (around $10), and they're notorious for not really fixing the problem either.

If you have a strong enough computer to handle Topspin, I would say it's the best game.

However, I couldn't even get Topspin to start on mine.

Other games...

Virtua Tennis 1 is on PC. I've never seen it in stores, but I downloaded it. :p VT2 (Sega Sports Tennis) is better, but VT1 still isn't a bad game.

I highly suggest getting a used Dreamcast and Sega Sports Tennis. Dreamcast's are only $15 now at EB, and the game will cost less than $10. It's arcadey, but still very fun. Especially with friends, it's a blast.

Tennis Masters Series 1 sucked hard, but it was pretty at least. I haven't played TMS 2003. I'll probably get it for $5 some day for XBox if I can find it.

There's the US Open/Roland Garros series... those aren't very good.

The best tennis game for PC is probably Nintendo 64 emulated Mario Tennis. Although, the graphics are all fucked up on replays with any emulator, it's still fun as hell. Or, just buy an N64 for less than $20. :p

Or Super Tennis for SNES.

I was thinking of getting a PS2 or Xbox for my birthday but everyone has turned me off now :yeah: Thanks for letting me know before I made the mistake :)

I still have an old Sega Megadrive and have 3 tennis games for that... my favourite being 'Grand Slam The Tennis Tournament'... it had weird arse substitute names for real ATP players (former players now coz obviously the games outdated).

I might think about downloading some tennis games for my PC. I can't buy any decent games to play on it because my stupid laptop doesn't handle anything

Is there ever going to be a Tennis Game with more then 8 real players...Top Spin has 8 i think... it would be great if they had the top 50 or 100...then some young guys who might be moving in the top 100. and game with the real ATP calander or something like it... on Top Spin you have to win bunch little ones to play GS or TMS and they are not even called that...well all that has to do with naming rights and shit so i guess there will never be tennis game with all real tournys and players

but if it ever does..ill be the 1st one to get it..

Leena
03-08-2005, 05:49 AM
Top Spin has 8 men and women, I think.

I doubt there ever would be a game with that many players... they'd have to pay to get the rights to them all, and it's really not worth it.

I think the most I've seen in a game was the WTA game on GBA. It had 24 or 32 WTA players.

If the gameplay is fun, I really don't care if there's real players.

Or, do like other sports games do, create the players somewhat like the real players, and let us edit their names in. Tennis Masters Series had this, but you couldn't tell who all the players were.

You probably have a dirty lens. The PS2 is far from air tight, and dust gets in there like nobody's business.

Cleaning the lens will likely be a temporary fix.

Also, both your lasers are weakened pretty badly. It will only get worse and worse as time goes on.

"Tennis" for the Game boy was a good game. But the best tennis game ever made is without a doubt "Snoopy Tennis". Do a search on google for this game, to get some reviews. It is very realistic, and may take time to get use to the controls. Butonce you get the hang of it you will be hooked. Snoopy is the only game that dethrones "Super Tennis". And that is a pretty hard thing to do..

As for 3dimensional games, Top Spin is up there. But Smash Court tenis 2 is much more realistic. It is almost like a sim. And the player selection is much better. In Smash court 2 you have Serena, Kim, Safin, Roddick, Hewitt, Justine, Capriati, Fererro ect.

1. Not alot of real players
2. When in Career Mode. Your start a Tourny at QF.and only play to 3games in a set.
3. No real tourny
4. No calandar..or seasons..once u get to #1 GAME OVEr..unlike other game where i can play till like 2030.
5. Only 100 players(92 made up)..Points instead of Money....no entry just some stuiped ranking.

it's just great, closely followed by Mario Tennis, you're just sitting there thinking RUN WARIO RUN, that guy is so slow, then he'll do a tumbleroll off the court, and the umpire seems like he yells out bullshit instead of deuce, it's classic. Well worth the money

Topspin is great, but after a while it gets a bit easy, you just end up playing entire matches where the only shot you hit is one of those big power shots

I wouldve liked it if they had some music in the game, ie music that changes in response to the situation that the match, or even the point currently being played, is in.

Sampras tennis on Megadrive is still great fun

Which player plays better on top spin , Guga or Pete ?

I think Guga plays much better on clay and at the australian open , but he's not bad on grass either . He has a great top spin shot and can create some crazy angles but his lobbying skills and volleys are poor . The best way for Pete to beat Guga is to serve and volley and to use the drop shot on the return of serve and approach the net . As funny as it sounds the drop shot return of serve is pretty effective if you can use it well .
