Does anyone know if these two boys of mine are friends?! Because Rogi is always eager to have revenge on or beat Lleyton. He never has anything positive to say.

Boo on Federer

Well has he said anything personal about Hewitt?

I see nothing wrong with him wanting "revenge" - in fact the more fire like that I see out of Fed, the better.

I would see nothing wrong if it was said in the reverse, next time Fed wins one.

I have no idea Nwando  Did Rogi say anything negative about Lleyton or that he just wants revenge?

From what I read, he merely said that he planned to get revenge next match.

Nothing like "that rat bastard better not be in the locker room when I get back" (thankyou Justin Gimblestob).

LOL, there's no need to turn ATP players into WTA ones. I like this tour better. ;) It gives me everything I want and nothing I could do without. :)

lol

Yes, following Tabara spitting at him, or something equally cute.

Not sure if he actually spat at him, or spat in his general direction.

Regardless LMAO...

Note sure I would want to be spitting at a man Justins size, with his short fuse :p

Tabara ain't skeered. I saw how Gimpysnob acted in that match, and I would have done far more than spit at the little shit.

I don't think Roger has any hostility against anyone. He is one of the most liked on the tour. And he gave a very friendly handshake at the end of the match. Not like stevenson.LOL

So Rodger wants to win. Who doesn't?

He never compliments his game or anything. He's always saying something like "I know I can beat him" or "I will get some revenge against him" blah blah, never adding in anything about how Lleyton's just a really good/talented player. People don't like people. There are many people I don't like. I am just saying, it doesn't seem like Roger likes Lleyton. Duh, hell yeah, how do I know?! I don't! LOL! It just seems like it!! That's all I'm saying! He doesn't have to like everybody and everybody doesn't have to like him.

Here's what the players had to say . . .

From Federer's post-match interview:

QUESTION: You played a wonderful game tonight and Lleyton said you will get a Grand Slam in future because you have so many features in your technology and you are still young, but he said you should keep your condition more stable because sometimes you play good and sometimes you play bad. So how do you think about that?

ROGER FEDERER: I don't really--not in a bad way, but I don't really care about what he says. Same as other players say about me, what I say about other guys shouldn't really bother the other guys. I know really what I have to do and why I miss shots. I also--and he knows best why he misses his shots, so we have to clean up in our own boat or house or whatever. But I know what I have to work on and, for me, with my game, it just needs more time and to work hard and until my whatever, my mental, my technique, whatever, is right in place and I think one day if I think everything is in place, I will have a chance to win Grand Slams and I think it's just because he's so strong mentally and physically, he can do this much earlier.

and this was what Lleyton actually said after winning that match:

QUESTION: There are a lot of people saying that Roger Federer plays a bit like Pete Sampras. With an all-round game like Roger Federer, compared to the serve-volley game of Pete Sampras, from your experience playing both players, what do you think are the differences between them?

LLEYTON HEWITT: Well, you know, it's hard to compare Pete Sampras with Roger Federer right at the moment. Obviously Roger is a great player and he's only going to get better and better and, you know, I'm convinced that he's going to win a Grand Slam sooner or later. He plays very well on all surfaces. This year he's been probably a little bit up and down. Obviously he played great before the French Open and great around US Open time onwards, but he has a couple of lapses in there now and then where he has three or four bad weeks in a row and I think, you know, as I said, Pete Sampras has won 14 Grand Slams and Pete is not the worst player from the back of the court by no means, especially when he's at his peak. So, you know, at the moment, I still believe that, you know, obviously the way the Sampras played at the US Open was pretty faultless.

Looks like the problem is in the question, really.

But I guess it's no secret that Federer and Hewitt never will be best friends. Apparently they don't like each other too much.

Therefore I think it's great how they still show respect to each other. And no bashing words. O.K. no high prise words from Roger either but hey what do you expect after having lost such a though and colose match. It's always easier for the winner to give out compliments than for the looser.

I don't find hostility in Rogi's answer (in this interview but don't know in his previous ones) either. Although he's not complimenting Hewitt, I think Roger respects him and if he doesn't like Hewitt, fine with me, I'm not exactly a Lleyton fan. :D
And with Hewitt ending the year numero uno, legion of ATP players have one common thing in their minds, have revenge and topple Hewitt out of that spot next year!

Does it look like Hewitt will never make friends with any of the 'new balls'? He made some comment on Safin and Roddick during an interview of US Open(true in someway, I must say).

Or they all hate each other?

I doubt that the players hate each other. Respect is the word that first springs to my mind ;)

This is ATP, not WTA tour ;)
